And [music] no, we're not just riding this thing around town for half an hour and then reading some spec sheet back to you. We are timing the unboxing process, verifying the weight, measuring motor temperature, testing the loudness with a decibel meter, measuring the lux with a light meter, and even seeing how annoying [music] this thing is to carry it around. And yeah, we're in the deep end of performance metrics, and you are watching Electric Scooter Guide, where we [music] have tested over hundreds of electric scooters.

And after doing this for years, we have learned that the spec sheet rarely [music] tell the full story. So, of course, we're doing all the basics for you guys, such as acceleration, top speed, braking, [music] handling, hill climb, range testing, and best of all, real-world unfiltered ride impressions. My job is really to make [music] sure that you can maximize every single dollar that you spend. Without further ado, let's get to [music] it.

All right, let's unbox the Yumi Raptor. Even unboxing has its metrics. We're always going to be timing how long it would take us to unbox and assemble the product, including clean up. And we're going to be surfacing any difficulties to the clean [music] up process. Usually, an electric scooter should take about 30 minutes. Let's get the timer started now. They're using a high-quality non-flaking foam. There's no odor, doesn't flake anywhere, and it's very protective [music] of the scooter inside.

Very nice. Feel like they may have over-wrapped this. Way too many Saran wraps. Little air pump, a caution warning. Little stem bag that's included. [music] There is something in here though. There's a tool kit and a remote in here. And a harness, mirrors, phone holder, charger number one, charger number two. So, this is one of the first scooters I've seen that [music] includes two chargers by default. Some scooters you can upgrade to two chargers so you can double up the speed when you need to.

It's about two amps for each charger. So, when you double up, it's four amps. Very nice [music] pamphlet, social media, and links that you should know. Comes with the manual and contact us information. Warranty card and setup information. We're done with the box. So, put the put the box away. The scooter is finally set up and I verified that everything works. The total time is about 44 [music] minutes. All right, it is time to do some testing.

Got a lux meter right here. Got a decibel meter to measure the motor [music] loudness and the horn loudness. Trusty measuring tape and we have infrared sensor right here. With this, [music] you can be like a real-life predator. Have a seat there. No, no, not not that kind of this kind, the cool kind. All right, we'll be testing the motor loudness with all the modes. So, starting with eco, standard, [music] and then turbo.

Eco mode, motor loudness. 46 decibels. 46 decibels is very quiet. It's more like a background noise. Something like your fridge [music] running in the background. Or like a light rainfall. Standard mode, let's go. 58 decibels. [music] 58 decibels is equivalent to a normal conversation that you would have with someone such as [music] my current volume right now. Turbo mode, let's go. 73 decibels. [music] 73 decibels is equivalent to a coffee grinder or an old washing machine.

Pretty darn loud. >> 1 2 3 4 >> Now, let's test the horn. The horn is [music] 83 decibels. It is the loudest thing on this electric scooter, which kind of makes sense. All right, now it's time to test the brightness of the headlights. This thing actually has four different headlights, one on top, one on the bottom, and two little ones on the side. The one [music] on top is really, really weird. Don't know if you can see it on the screen, but it's projecting a perfect rectangle.

And that rectangle is super bright. I'm going to test the super bright rectangle [music] first. 4,500 lux. This is by far the brightest thing I've ever tested on this channel. The last brightest thing that I've tested was around 2,000 lux. This is crazy bright. And then the one on the bottom, which is [music] a very generic light, about 1,280 [music] lux. About the normal level of a light. When I put my hand in front of it, I can actually feel the warmth coming from this light.

Photosynthesis. All right, the website says this scooter is 102 [music] lb. We're going to put this on a real industrial scale and see how much it weighs in real life. >> [snorts] >> Definitely, definitely not light. It is 101.65. It is actually just a little bit lighter than the official weight. Next up is measurement time. Handlebar width, 29 in. It's actually a very, very wide handlebar. Handlebar height from the deck, 41 in.

Deck length, [music] 22 and 1/2 in. But if you count the super comfortable kick tail, it is now 29 in. The wheel base [music] is 42 in. Ground clearance, about 7 in. And once I put my weight on it, barely 6 in. [music] Stem angle, 11 in. Wait, 11°. Stem angle is just about normal, like any other scooter I've seen. There are some key features I would like to highlight. Let's do this shotgun style, really, really quickly.

[music] First, this is using a half twist throttle. This is not a full twist throttle. I would have preferred a thumb throttle. This one works just [music] as well. You just need to get a little bit used to twisting the other half of the throttle, but most of the time you can put your hand on here and not be unsteady. Number two, [music] this LED system right here, a little bit too tacky, a little bit too on the nose, um but I think at night it does look pretty damn cool.

Number three, this thing has four freaking headlights. There's one [music] over here, super bright, one normal headlight down here, and two tiny ones here. You You can light up what's in front of you like a Christmas tree. The [music] suspension is super soft. I can one foot bottom it out. Like I don't even need to put my entire weight on it, [music] and I can just go like that, and it bottoms out. I think this is fine for city riding for like a 200 [music] lb person.

The handlebar is just a little bit wider than what I'm used to. I'm [music] very used to 27 in, so I do like to put my hand a little bit closer to the center. The handlebar is also adjustable. It's [music] not like fully adjustable, but you can move this thing up and down. The next thing is everything resets when you start [music] the scooter. The speed mode that you're in resets. The dual drive mode resets. So, every time you get into [music] the scooter, you kind of need to click a bunch of buttons.

It's a little bit annoying. I really hope that the mode that you select and it persists through multiple sessions. The scooter came with a bunch [music] of freebies that I didn't install on the scooter. I like a nice clean look, so I didn't really install that. Next is kind of like my [music] grip, also one of their marketing points as well. You need a key, an NFC [music] key, to turn on the scooter and also turn it off.

If you lose this, say like you're out there riding, >> [music] >> there's no power button that you can click and manually input a password to turn this thing [music] on. If you lose your NFC key, you're screwed, right? You lose your backup key, you're screwed. One cool thing about the backup key is you can go to [music] the bottom of the insert the key, turn it, and pull out the key. Now the scooter is ridable with full power.

In the event that the monitor [music] is broken, you can also do the same thing, but you'll be locked to like mode one, and you can kind of [music] sort of limp home. >> Okay, it's time for the speed test, acceleration test. This is about 1/8 of a mile, completely flat, highest speed mode turbo. 3 2 1 go. >> [panting and snorts] >> Decent acceleration. Woo! Oh my gosh, this is freaky. It's pretty fast. Pretty stable.

Woo! Going down. Okay, we did 0 [music] to 10 in 1.46, 0 to 20 in 3.01, 0 to 30 in 5.21 seconds, completely flat. That is amazing. 0 to 40, 9.8, 1/8 of a mile in 9.80 seconds. Very very good speed. All right, top speed run. 2 >> [music] >> 1 go. So, this is less about acceleration, but more about top speed. At 40 mph. 49. 50. 52. All right. Time to look at carve-ability. I think the carve is feels very good. The carve is pretty good.

It doesn't feel like it wants to kind of come back. As soon as I start to lean, it feels like if I don't intervene, the scooter is just going to keep leaning until it falls. Okay, we're going to talk about turning. After putting in quite a bit of mileage on the scooter, I think I understand it a lot more. With this scooter, the geometry and the tires, it allows you to effortlessly lean at a very sharp angle and maintain that lean.

I can just tell you straight up for this [music] scooter, it feels like leaning hard on this one feels very, very effortless. It just keeps wanting to lean harder and harder. Takes a little bit [music] to get used to that. Once you go into a hard lean, you really have to pull the handlebar back. But once you get used to that, turning [music] is very, very good on the scooter, especially at a roundabout. I could be standing up straight and just leaning the scooter over and it just keeps wanting to turn.

It's a very interesting geometry for a hyper scooter. This one really loves to maintain that turn. Wow. So, yeah, this one has [music] a really, really peculiar lean angle, which I am beginning to love more and more. Okay, over here, we're in turbo mode and we're going to try to make a U-turn right here and see if it's possible. Oh, nice. We made that one turn without getting off the scooter. About a half the width of the sidewalk.

The geometry of the Yumi Raptor 2 is actually very, very good for low-speed balance. If you ever run into like a crowded area and you need to dodge some pedestrians, go go at a very slow pace, um, this scooter is very doable without getting out of dual wheel drive and without getting out of the turbo mode. So, Okay, so Yumi has sent me two scooters. This is the second one with slick tires. Basically, road use city tires.

I've experienced a little bit of vibrations with the knobby tires, but just to show you, I am on turbo mode, dual drive. This is the fastest scooter can go. 2 1 My god, it is so smooth. >> In fact, I'm going to go as far to say that this is the polar opposite of the knobby version that I have never seen such a smooth scooter at such a low vibrations when it's close to 60 miles per hour in free spin. So, if you're like me, and your most of your commute is on city streets, get the slick [music] tires and you're going to thank me later.

Getting the right tires for the correct ride is so important, and it just showcases here. All right, so these are the slick tires. We're taking them out for a ride. 35 38 No vibrations. Absolutely no vibrations. Wow, it is so smooth. Buttery and smooth. Holy sh This is so smooth. Same suspension but different tires. My goodness. This is so smooth. 40 41 coupled with the dampener I feel 45. Very smooth. No vibrations.

Zero. Woo! Such a night and day difference between the knobby tires and the slicks. And they narrowed it down to the tires. They just said, "Hey, the tires are not really balanced. You know, they're knobby tires. So, why don't you give the slicks a try?" And they sent me a slick unit. My gosh, it is just the smoothest ride. I'm constantly going over 40 and it doesn't even feel like 40. I am in love with these slicks and the way that they tuned the suspensions.

It is so good. Oh man, this is so smooth. Coupled with the integrated stampener my gosh, going at 40 is child's play. And this thing can hit 50. But what from what I can tell, is zero vibration, zero wobble. It's going up to 46, 47. All right, welcome to the scooter hill. This is a rather short hill, but pretty aggressive around where I live. We're just going to see what the top speed is. This being a hyper scooter, it should not see any slow down at all. 2 1 go. 24 25 30 already 34 36 37 still climbing.

We're at the end of the hill. Woo! All right, this is absolutely crazy. There's no slow down at all. All right, we're going to be doing a few deceleration tests. That means we go up to 15 mph and we slam on the brakes and we see how quickly it takes to stop us. First one took about 1.97 seconds and it's about 18.64 [music] ft. This time it took about 0.88 [music] seconds and it's about 10.81 ft. That is a very very impressive stop. 15 to zero in 1.01 seconds 11.81 ft.

[music] Pretty darn good so far. These are two piston hydraulic disc brakes. In my testing, they stopped me roughly around like 1.1 1.2 seconds from 15 mph to a dead stop. The rotors are 160 mm. So I think this is more than enough for good everyday riding and even spirited riding. Our range [music] test first checking, there's a total of six bars on the battery. I don't know if you can see it here. We used one bar and we have gone about 9 miles on the odometer.

If this is actually the case, we can go about 40 miles and I'm going at my current pace, which is around 35 to 40 mph. That is extremely fast. I'm basically following suburban traffic. I'm 210 lb right now. Today it's about 50 to 60 degree day, very cool day, very pleasant, virtually no wind, no wind at all. The elevation on the path that I'm doing, you're probably going to see about 400 ft elevation change. Let's keep going until we burn down all the battery.

This is going to be a long day. [music] All right, range test checking. Just had two bars drop and now we're at 12.3 mi. So, it's definitely being super optimistic. Okay, [music] 50% battery. We're looking at 20 mi, exactly [music] 20 mi. And I've been going at 35 mph with bursts of 45s. Okay, we're doing low battery acceleration test where at 50.4 V. It looks like we have two bars of battery [music] left at two, one, go.

Oh, still very punchy. Woo! Still going up to 40. Woo! Very, [clears throat] very impressive, especially considering that it's just two bars left out of six bars. All right, this is the end of the range test. We're at 29.1 [music] mi and the scooter is basically just crawling right now. So, I'm just going to call it 29.1 [music] mi. Really, really good considering that I was going 35 to 40 mph the entire time. Considering it has a 30 amp hour battery at only $1,500, this makes it one of the longest range electric scooters I've tested.

[music] The most scooters around this range only last about 20 mi or less. If you are a [music] little bit slower, if you use one wheel drive, if you're a little bit lightweight than me, you can easily do like 40 to 50 mi range with zero issues. Ride safe and be protected, wear a dot helmet. This is the Alpine Stars Supertech M10 helmet, very good for the summer, has a lot of airflow. It is dot and [music] ECE approved, so very, very safe.

So, after all the testing, is the Yumi Raptor 2 actually worth it? [music] The Yumi Raptor 2 really stands out in range, acceleration, and turning. The Raptor 2 [music] can go up to 53 mph easily and is one of the few scooters in this price range that can actually do it. Aside from that, the Raptor 2 comes with the app control, four front headlights, super comfortable kicktail for a performance scooter, adjustable handlebar height, backup key ignition, and a full color LCD [music] display.

It also has a very good low speed balance and ergonomics, as well as powerful snappy [music] hydraulic brakes. I would say what you get is pretty darn good.
