Sorry for interrupting the Puerto Rican Day Parade 2026, one of my favorite videos I always get to record here in Chicago, but I do have to remind you that we are giving away this 2000 FXDL Dyna over on my Patreon. Today, we are going to the Puerto Rican Day Parade in Humboldt Park. We're currently on [music] Madison and Kilbourn, about to get uh some gas in the neighborhood of West Garfield Park. [music] And it's beautiful out here, it really is.

I'm going to try to make the intro as short as possible on this one and just get into it quick for [music] y'all. I mean that, too. There's so many speed bumps on side streets here on the west and south [music] sides.

Even on the north side. It's just all over the city. They put speed bumps all over the damn place. Might as well jump them, you know? Like I said, we're to the neighborhood to the south of Humboldt Park right now in Garfield [music] Park. Pretty much have to head straight north to get into Humboldt Park. In the summertime, CPD almost always has a unit just sitting right here in the middle [music] of Garfield Park's business district.

Basically monitoring any type of issue that comes up within this super active couple block area. You know what we got? A Suzuki or what is that? A Honda? That is a Honda. My boy is rolling. Oh, that's kind of cool. The Juneteenth flag and [music] Puerto Rican Day flag. Oh, look at the spider crew out front. Got you faded. There was actually just a mass shooting there a couple [music] weeks ago. Oh, looks like they're having a graduation day party in the park.

Not a lot of people came, though. Or maybe it's just early on. I don't know. Stop the beef ave. I like the mini bikes. Love it. A lot of people getting ready to go over to the park. This is how you know you're starting to get at least towards the park. You'll see the neighborhood slowly change from [music] a more African-American community within Garfield Park to a more Puerto Rican community, which is Humboldt Park.

And you might be wondering, why do they even do a parade all these years? What are we celebrating? What are we doing here? Celebrating the more than 5.8 million Puerto Ricans that call the USA home, and the 3.2 million that are still on the isle. Obviously, Puerto Rico is a US territory, [music] and as far as a country we have close ties to, I don't think there's one that has closer ties to us. Got the top down Mustang.

The boys! All right, that's the OG 650, yeah. That's the old school, man. That's an air-cooled one. What up, baby? What up? I'd be SURPRISED IF I DIDN'T. Look at the sound in this CRV. Holy [ __ ] WE'RE right on the border here at Garfield Park and uh Humboldt Park, so you'll see a decent [music] amount of African-American and Puerto Rican culture coming together. So, every year, June 14th weekend, the annual parade, amusement parks, and entirely the entire the entire heart of the neighborhood, Humboldt Park itself, is closed off for amusement rides, vendors, and it is just a full weekend to celebrate the heritage of Puerto [music] Ricans here in Chicago specifically.

Humboldt Park has been the destination for Puerto Ricans and migrants for decades here in the city. Why? Great homes, [music] affordable housing, and pretty decent schools. I can't say they're the best schools, but yeah, pretty decent schools. However, every single year, this parade and event gets a pretty bad rap because there's always at least one act of violence like at a mass scale, whether it's a multi-person shooting or just gang retaliation back and forth.

Oh damn, that's that CRV we just saw. He must have some electrical problems, [music] huh? Nice bike. Get some air through your gills, 197. The culture in Humboldt Park is very unique as well. You see lots of stretched out seats, FZs, lots [music] of DRZ 450s, 650s, and a lot of these a lot of the jerseys, bright colors, sound systems, JDM cars. Like, the motorsports culture cannot be underestimated when it comes to importance within this neighborhood.

I can only imagine the the amount of enforcement and headache that CPD has to deal with with these flat cars and people hanging out of them and openly drinking and driving. That's probably their biggest citation this week is DWI or something like that or open container. I think as long as no one gets killed, CPD can call this one a success. But uh it's very early in the day and we're going to have to wait and see how that [music] ends up.

However, right now, this is one of the kind of safe spots for riders to hang out, chill, listen to music cuz obviously, if you go down to the main strip, they're going to have a problem with it. >> [music] [music] >> Super easy got the same transit van as me. So, if you see the Puerto Rican flag over Division Street to the west and then there's another one way down there to the east and it basically covers all of Humboldt Park's business district here, which is home to so many different cafes, bars, restaurants, yo, yo, and just Puerto Rican culture here in this neighborhood. This neighborhood consistently is in the top 10 most dangerous neighborhoods in the city, [music] but I like to think that events like this break that stereotype pretty well.

You know what? For the most part, every single time I've come here, it's been nothing but love and acceptance, even though I'm not Puerto Rican. >> They They do it >> Yo, yo. They love me just for putting Chicago on the map and putting motor sports on the map and showing everyone here respect and love and it's always been good. Yo, what up, baby? How are you guys? Good to see you, huh? Humboldt Park is pretty known for well-known gangs like the Satan [music] Disciples.

I did a music video for a pretty well-known Satan Disciple way back when out of a pretty notorious part of this neighborhood, Grand City, and I won't really mention too much more than that. I've since stopped doing rap music videos here in the city as I just don't know if it's the smartest thing to do, so I [music] just don't do them anymore as far as like features in rap videos. They say being a rapper in Chicago is the most dangerous job in the city because you represent [music] your sub block, your clique, your gang and uh yeah, it just it's become a very dangerous job.

But, let me take off my helmet. I'm going to get something to eat, get something to drink, chill for a little bit and save some GoPro battery. Some cool live music going on in the middle of Division Street. We got food coming, drinks coming. Going to let a couple of the GoPro batteries charge, but I'm just walking around enjoying this, man. Really kind [music] of trying to immerse myself in Humboldt Park's culture. I've always enjoyed coming here.

It's been a part of Hood Eats since episode two or three, like really early on, [music] so I've been riding here and a lot of the locals have known me here for a long time and I love it here. It is fun. One of the nastiest boosts in the city. Give that thing some gas. Boy is just trying to get through. Rolling two cars deep. Jump out, boys. All four doors. And jump out girls. So, you do you really do have Satan Disciples and Latin Kings operating in this neighborhood, which do make it so dangerous, especially when they get reports for a person with a gun at a big uh gathering like this. I feel like those are the forgotten victims a lot of the gang wars, man. You drive around a lot of these violent neighborhoods long enough, you'll see a lot of young guys in wheelchairs like that, whether they're paraplegic, they got hit in their spine, nerve damage, anything like that. It is a massive designed by I forgot who Humboldt back in the late 1800s. This park quickly became the largest park on the west side. Take a look at it.

There used to be an alligator that lived here called Chance the Snapper, instead of Chance the Rapper, and he lived in the pond that is on the property [music] of the park. He's writing all the cars tickets, not the bikes. But if a car [music] is still parked there, he's just giving them a ticket. We're with the pack, baby. WE'RE WITH THE GANG. WOW! THIS DUDE'S GOT AN AIR HORN on a drill. Look at this thing. He's got a whole ass rideout going on up here, bro.

There's a decent amount of homeless population here on the west end of the division. Look at this. Loud night for them, man. The speakers, cars, bikes, rideout. Oh, yeah, it's a party. And every year, I was here last year, and right at this gas station right here at the corner, multiple people were shot. So, you definitely have to keep your head on a swivel, and you definitely have to be aware [music] of who you're surrounding yourself with.

If you're watching me when I was on the Kings block, like I was on the Kings block, but I wasn't around the group of Latin Kings. But, I wasn't in the mix with them. You know what I mean?
