Antigravity A1 - This 8K 360 Drone Blew My Mind transcript

Inspiration can come from many places. For me, it's the mountains. It's nature. This is the Anti-Gravity A1. Designed to completely refine how we capture the world. It was a freezing morning in January when I received it. Nothing ever wakes me up that quickly, but it was far too early to ignore. Curious, I got up and went to check it right away. "Check your car." it said. Without hesitation, I headed outside [music] and that's when I realized something wasn't quite right.

Sitting quietly in the trunk was a [music] strange package. So, let's unbox it. Inside was a letter and beside it technology like I had never really encountered before. A controller, a drone, and a pair of goggles. Two plane tickets and a note that read, "Two places, three tasks. Task one, Bali. Showcase the A1 over the green landscapes. Task two, Italy. Film fast-paced action shots in the snow. Get out of your comfort zone.

Task three, teach a beginner how to fly. Good luck. Anti-Gravity." And so, the next chapter started with an 18-hour flight to Indonesia. Guys, check out the crib, by the way. How sick is that? And it's just so nice and peaceful here. I don't think it's going to be peaceful for much longer once I start flying the drone. For anyone who is unfamiliar, this is the Anti-Gravity A1, the first of its kind crazy 360 drone. This really really intrigued me because never before has anyone put a 360 camera in a drone, I don't think.

And I feel like the possibilities for creativity with this are going to be endless simply because you're going to be capturing 360s. You're going to be capturing everything but from the air. The A1 can shoot in full 360 in 8K and weighs only 250 g with a standard battery. To get the drone in the air, all you need to do is double tap up on the controller and the propellers will start. You can just look around. You can literally just see everything around you in 360, which is crazy.

And then all you need to do in order to fly is just pick a direction. So say I want to go this way, point, and then hold the accelerator. And we're gone. And if I want to go up, I just point the joystick up and we'll fly over the trees. And if I want to look around, I just use the thumb stick because I don't actually have to worry about framing anything. I just need to sort of worry about flying it. It kind of feels like I'm flying FPV, but it's not FPV.

The menu system and when you're actually looking into the goggles, you can see pretty much everything in flight, the return to home so you know where you are. Super super clear. I think everything is very well placed. It's kind of like not in your way, either. Like you've got all your settings in the right places and you're not sort of just distracted by things. See if I can get low to these trees now. Now because I'm flying in cinematic mode, no, normal mode actually, that means the obstacle sensors are on, so we're not going to get any crashes.

We do not want to hit any power lines. It's usually with like FPV goggles, the pilot only has like one view, for instance, whereas with these goggles, whoever's in front of me, like you guys are now, you can actually see what I'm seeing. So for anyone who's like a beginner drone pilot, I would say all your attention and your concentration can just be on flying the drone. But, yeah, that's the first attempt flying. That's so cool.

This is my first time, by the way, using one of these like hand joysticks to use the drone. And I quite like the fact that everything is just so close to your your thumb in terms of you can literally access all of these buttons from just your thumb. And it did take a little bit of getting used to, you know, figuring out where the record button is, return to home, things like that. And I think after a good like, I'd say, 20 minutes, if you are kind of not new to drones, you can get the hang of this pretty quickly.

And I think it makes it so much easier with the accelerator. It's just a point and go kind of drone, you know? The more that you fly, you just think about flying it and getting it back safe as opposed to I need to get like these really cool shots. You just need to figure out the flight path as opposed to I need to get this flight path and then I need to get this camera movement. Something that I did notice as well, which I quite like, is the fact that when you're landing, these little feet here just deploy like so.

So, when you land on something like grass, for instance, your propellers aren't actually touching the surface and they're not hitting the grass. Because there's a lot of space up here, I want to attempt a little drone flight path. So, potentially fly the drone kind of through the room and then through the bedsheets, maybe, and then out the two double doors and then into the jungle whilst I'm sitting on this sort of like raised outdoor bed.

I think that would look really, really cool. Maybe it'll be safe to shoot it in normal mode. Wouldn't advise shooting this in sport mode unless you are an expert drone flyer, but honestly, it's the first day in Bali. I don't want to crash it. So, what's going on? Drone is set. So, you guys can see the menu at the moment. What I'm going to do is we've got FPV mode and we've got free mode. I'm going to shoot all of this in free mode and then we're going to shoot in 8K 24 FPS.

We go back. Okay. So now, super easy. So you see on the right here it says, "Please ensure surrounding area is clear." All right, look around. Nothing around for the drone to crash into. We go up to start the motors. Once the motors are started, push up. Point updated. >> And we're in the air. Okay. We're going to go through the door. >> [music] [music] >> I think it works. Not going to lie, I was nervous about that one.

The next morning we packed up and drove 3 hours at south towards Canggu. Our friend actually invited us over to stay at his villa for the day, but Bali weather had other plans. It's just started to rain. I'm kind of like hiding behind this wall here because the wind is so so strong. Uh and I wanted to test out the anti-gravity in these really windy scenarios, but I'm kind of concerned this might be a bit too windy. Uh I'm in two minds whether I should take it off. >> [music] >> As you can see, the drone actually held up pretty well in these strong winds.

There are a few times I got this red warning signal, so I decided to bring it home before anything went wrong. Then later on in the day, to my surprise, this happened. It's going to happen any minute. Yes. Oh my god. It has been a roller coaster. Like it's been an absolute crazy time of my life since starting YouTube. I just wanted to come on here and just make this raw video and say thank you guys so much for all of your support.

You guys are amazing and thank you all for just changing my life and letting me do the things that I love. I think I've had probably around 10 to 12 hours sleep past I think 2 days since leaving Bali. And I don't know how I'm alive right now. And we have made it to the mountains in Italy. Not going to lie, I've missed these views. I really have. I've missed the views of the mountains. I've missed the snow. Dare I say I've missed the cold.

The mountains are a good fit for me. Like, this is my happy place. Like, you guys know I make a lot of ski content. I love being in the mountains. I love these views. I love everything about it. And I'm feeling very overwhelmed, very grateful actually, now I'm here and staring at this view because I've gone from one side of the world to the other and my content and my camera has taken me there. So, feeling very grateful at the moment.

Oh my god. A bed. Okay, so my task, film something extreme. [music] Something that I've never done before, okay? And I wanted to challenge myself. You guys know that I ski, but I don't ski on like a professional level. But, I know someone who snowboards on a professional Olympic level. In the anti-gravity case, I wanted to run through with you guys kind of my setup and how I transport this around, especially, you know, when I'm traveling.

Again, I've taken a few things out of this like the the big charger, [music] because that can really take up some room. But, literally, super simple. Got the controller. Got the goggles, the actual drone itself, which I keep in this hard case, which Antigravity have kindly provided. And then we've got the batteries. Got three batteries in total. And then we've got the neck piece, well, I call it the necklace with the battery, which actually powers the goggles.

Then in this top pouch right here, I keep all of the little accessories. So, we've got lens cleaning [snorts] wipes in case any fingerprints [music] go on the lenses. We've also got spare propellers. Quite a lot of spare propellers came with the drone. And yeah, just like all of the little bits and pieces that, you know, I might need all live in this little like top part. And then that is basically it. And then the entire bag just like that is super light as well.

I can just [music] carry this around with me like so. Super simple. And it's a nice gray design, super sleek. As of right now, [music] I'm going to relax a little bit, and then going to go out for dinner, cuz I'm so hungry, and then I'm going to do [music] some editing, and then be up early for the shoot tomorrow. No, it's a You've had a lot of practice over the past few days. >> [music] [music] >> When editing footage from the Antigravity A1, it gives me the option to choose from five different perspectives: front, rear, left, right, and overhead. You can also create key frames between them, which makes shots like this super fun and easy to accomplish.

So, you can actually track your subject by clicking the cross icon and then dragging over the area and the drone will follow the entire way. So, if you want to go up into the sky, you just point, you look at the sky, and then you just press the accelerator. Oh, god. It's straight to the ground. Boom. I'm kidding. All right. He's about to Oh, he landed at Sick One. I've flown a drone at night with this thing before. Crazy experience, holy.

So, overall, I would say the Anti-Gravity A1 truly exceeded my expectations. And if I'm being honest, I've always loved action cameras and I've always loved FPV, and this feels like the perfect fusion, I would say, between those two worlds.
