- What I'm about to show you completely changes how you build a Shopify store. This store was built almost entirely with AI. I didn't have to pay a developer, buy an expensive theme, or write a single line of code. And in this video, I'll show you exactly how to build a store just like this, even if you're a total beginner. By the end of this video, you'll have your own custom store that's live and ready to take orders.
So how is this even possible? Shopify now lets you connect an AI called Claude Code right to your store. You just tell it what you want your store to look like in plain language, and it builds the whole thing for you. With this setup, there are only two things you'll pay for. The first, of course, is Shopify, which I've actually got a really good exclusive deal for that I'll tell you more about in just a bit. The second is Claude Code, which is $20 a month, but it does almost all of the work for you, so it's absolutely worth it.
And don't worry, even though you're building the store with AI, you can still edit everything yourself, just like a normal Shopify store. The setup I'm about to show you is honestly the simplest way to get a great-looking store built and online. So let's start by setting up your Shopify store. And to set up your store and follow along step-by-step with me, I partnered with Shopify to get you a special deal. You'll get a three-day free trial, and then your first three months for just $1 per month.
To activate this special offer, go to this link on screen right here, or click the first link in the video description. Once you go to that link, you'll be brought to this page right here. Start by entering your email address down here. Once you've done that, click on this arrow to continue. And then to start your free trial, go ahead and create a password. After that, click on Create account. And then on this page right here, you'll have to enter your payment information to claim the special deal.
On the left side here, you'll see that today you'll get three days for free, and then it's going to be $1 per month for three months, and you can cancel at any time. So to claim the special offer, go ahead and enter your payment information right here. And once you're finished, click on Subscribe for $1. All right, so now your free trial has been activated. On this next page, you'll see options for different plans. When you're just starting out, I'd recommend going with the basic plan.
So let's go down here and click on Try Basic. Then we'll go down here and click on Not now. On this page here, click on I'll do this later. And with all of that done, you'll arrive in your Shopify dashboard. All right. So now before we can get started building your store, there are three quick tools that we need to get set up on your computer. Now real quick, let me explain what each one of them does so everything makes sense.
The first tool is called Node, and you can think of Node like a little engine that runs quietly in the background and lets our other tools work. The second one is Claude Code, and this is the main tool that we need because it's the AI that's actually going to build your store for you. And the third tool is the Shopify CLI, which is basically the bridge that connects your computer to your Shopify store. So when you put it all together, Claude Code builds your store, the Shopify CLI hands that work over to Shopify, and Node keeps everything running behind the scenes.
So let's go ahead and start by installing the first tool, which is Node. So let's open up a new tab here in the top. And then you'll type in nodejs.org. Then I'll press enter on my keyboard. Then let's scroll down here and click on Get Node.js. And on this page here, you'll see a few different ways to instal this. I would recommend scrolling down to the bottom of the page and finding the pre-built installer. In my case, I'm installing this on a Windows machine.
If you're using a different operating system, go ahead and click on this and change it to your operating system here. In my case, I'll stick with Windows, and I'll download the installer here. Once that's finished downloading, I'll go to the top right here, and I'll open up the installer. I'll click on OK. And once the setup wizard opens up, click on Next. Accept the licence agreement. Click Next again. And again. Then here, I'd recommend just leaving everything as default.
Click Next again. And then here you'll see an option regarding tools for native modules. I would just go ahead and leave this box unchecked. For the setup we're doing, you won't need this. Click on Next. And click on Instal. And now the setup wizard will go ahead and instal Node.js. Let's give this a few moments to complete. And once it's done, click on Finish. Okay. So now you've installed Node, which is your first tool.
This is something you set up once, and it just runs in the background. You're not going to interact with it at all, but it's going to be really important later on. So now let's move into installing our second tool, which is Claude Code. Like I mentioned earlier, this is the AI that's going to build your Shopify store for you. All right. So the first thing that we actually have to do here before we can instal Claude Code is sign up for a Claude account.
So let's go to the top here and we'll type in Claude.ai and press Enter. And on this page here, let's scroll down and enter your email address right here. From there, click on and Continue with email. Then here you'll be sent a verification code. Check this email address right here and find that verification code. So I'll go ahead and check my email here. And in some cases, you may get an actual verification code, or you might just get this link right here.
It'll say sign into Claude.ai. In my case, I'll click on this. We'll check this box right here and click Create account. And then on this page here, you'll see the different plan options. I mentioned in the intro of this video that you'll need the Pro plan for this setup. And the reason for that is because Pro includes Claude Code, which is what we need to build your Shopify store. So here you can either go with the yearly plan or you could go with the monthly plan.
Once you've made your choice here, click on Get Pro plan. And then from here, just fill out your payment information, scroll down and click on Subscribe. Now once you subscribe, Claude is going to continue walking you through its onboarding. And part of that is this screen right here, where it lets you instal the Claude desktop app. One thing to know here is that this part is totally optional. The desktop app is just a separate app for chatting with Claude about anything you want.
And since you're now on the Pro plan, it's a nice way to get the most out of what you're paying for. So I'll go ahead and instal this. So in my case, I'll click on Download for Windows. And then in the top right here, we'll see Claude Setup.exe. We'll go ahead and click on this. And it will instal the Claude desktop app onto your computer. In my case, I actually already have this installed, so it doesn't walk me through the full setup wizard.
But all you have to do is just follow the steps in the setup wizard, and then log into the Claude account that you just created. All right, now with that done, let's quickly check in with where we are. You've got your first tool fully set up, which is Node. And now you just created your Claude account and signed up for the pro plan. There are a couple things left to do with Claude code that we'll handle in just a few moments, which means that we're not fully done with setting up Claude code just yet.
But don't worry, we'll come back to it a little bit later to finish everything up. For now, it makes more sense to move into our third tool, which is the Shopify CLI. So let's move into that next. Now, before we instal the Shopify CLI, there's one small helper tool it needs in order to run, and that's called Git. The two of them just work together. So we'll quickly grab Git first. So let's go to the top right here, and we'll type in git-scm.com and press enter.
And then I'll scroll down right here and click Instal for Windows. And if you're using a different operating system, you'll see the different instals listed right here. So I'll click right here to download the latest version. And I'll open it up here in the top right. And once this window opens up right here, I'll click on Instal. And we'll wait for the instal process to finish up here. I'll go ahead and uncheck this.
And click finish. Okay, now we need the Shopify CLI itself. We're going to instal this in the terminal, which is just an app where you can type in commands. I'm on a Windows machine, so I'll be using PowerShell. But if you're on a Mac, you'll use the Terminal app instead. And you can open that by pressing Command + Space, and then typing Terminal. So either go ahead and open up PowerShell on Windows or Terminal on Mac.
In my case, I'll press the Windows button on my keyboard. And then here at the top, I'll type in PowerShell. And I'll open this right here. And then here, we're going to type in one simple command. I'll type npm instal -g @shopify/cli@latest. And if you want to just copy and paste this command instead of typing it out, I've put together a full guide that's linked down in the description below. And this isn't just for this command only.
For every command and every step throughout this video, that guide walks you through it with all of the commands ready to copy and paste laid out in the exact order that they show up here in the video. So I'd actually recommend opening up that guide in another tab or on a second monitor if you've got one and keeping it open as you follow along. It'll make the whole process a lot easier. Once you have this typed in, press Enter on your keyboard.
And this is going to take a few moments to instal. Okay. And with that done, the Shopify CLI is now installed. You may see a few different lines of text appear right here, but don't worry. These are completely normal and they don't mean that anything went wrong. To make sure that it did instal correctly, let's quickly double check. In the terminal here, I'll type shopify version and press Enter. And if you see a version number appear right here, that means that it has installed correctly.
All right. Now we have the Shopify CLI installed. Now we have one more thing to do here within PowerShell. We're going to fully instal Claude Code now. To fully instal Claude Code, there's two different commands depending if you're on Windows or Mac. And you'll find both of those commands in the guide down below. I'm on Windows, so I'll be using the Windows command. That's going to be irm https://claude.ai/install.ps1, space, then you'll use this pipe symbol here.
Space again. Then iex. Then we'll press Enter on the keyboard. And we'll wait for this to instal. And right here, once it's done, you should see that it says Installation complete! Once you see this, go ahead and close out of PowerShell or the Mac terminal. And then right after that, you'll want to open up a new instance. And here you'll want to type claude. Press Enter. Right here, it gives you a simple onboarding starting with choosing the theme here.
I'll just press Enter to go with dark mode. For here, we'll go with Claude account with subscription. So just press Enter here. And that should automatically open up this page right here. Just click on Authorise. Click on Copy Code. Then go ahead and open up PowerShell or Terminal again. Then we'll paste that code right here. I'll use Control + Shift + V on my keyboard. Then press Enter. Once you're logged in, press Enter to continue.
Press Enter again. Press Enter to trust and lock in your workspace. And now you're logged into Claude Code. And just like that, we have all three of your tools installed. Now comes the fun part. We'll connect Claude to your Shopify store and actually start building. So let's do that next. From here, let's go ahead and minimise this PowerShell window. Then we'll close out of this tab. And close this one here as well. And we'll go back over to our Shopify dashboard.
Now the very first thing that we need to do here is add our products. That's because Claude needs a product to build your store around. It's going to design your whole store, including your homepage and your product pages, all based on what you're selling. So we have to give it something to work with first. And this will work regardless of what you're selling. Whether you're dropshipping, selling something you make yourself, or running a clothing store, for example, the steps are all exactly the same.
So decide on what you want to sell now, and let's add it in. From here, let's go over to the left-hand side and click on Products. Then click on Add product. And the first thing we'll do here is add in a product title and description. You can write these yourself, but you can also just let AI do this for you. So for example, right here, you could open up a Claude chat, and then you could ask for something like this. Give me a short and clean product title and description for this product.
And then just drag and drop in your product image into the prompt. In this case, I have this red t-shirt here. We'll go ahead and send this. And then we'll wait a moment for it to come back with the result. And as you can see right here, we now have a title and description. If you're not happy with the first version, you can go ahead and give it some feedback right here. But in my case, I'm happy with these. So I'll copy over the title, paste it in right here, and then copy and paste in the description as well.
Next, scroll down to the Media section. And this is where you'll add in your product photos. For your photos, you've got a few options. You could take them yourself. You could generate them with an AI image tool like ChatGPT. Or if you're dropshipping or you don't have any, you could use a stock photo or existing photos of your product online. In my case, I already have my product photos ready. So I'll drag and drop them in right here.
With that done, let's scroll down to the pricing section. You can set this price for whatever you want. In my case, I'll go for $19.99. Below this, you'll see options for inventory and shipping. If you'd like to, you can go ahead and adjust these now. I'll set my inventory for this product at $100. And for shipping, that's something you'll have to adjust a little bit later. At the bottom here, you'll see options for variants.
This is for if you have options like size or colour. Since I'm selling t-shirts in various sizes, I'll want to turn this on. So I'll click add options like size or colour. Click on Size. And then I'll add a size. I'll add small, medium, large, and XL, then I'll click done. If you have other variants, you can add them in right here, but this works for me. And if I scroll down here, you can see that you can actually change the price for your different variants as well.
And if you have specific images for each variant, like for example, if this were colours, you could add them in right here so it reflects the actual product variant. I'll go ahead and quickly adjust the inventory for the variants as well. Then scrolling down, we have our category metafields. You can adjust this if you want to, but I'll just leave this as default. And then at the very bottom, you'll have some other SEO-related stuff.
I wouldn't worry about this for now. So if we scroll all the way back up to the top, and our first product is almost ready to go. But before we save it, there's one more thing I want to do, and that's add it to a collection. Collections are just a way to group your products together. So if you're selling a bunch of different things, like t-shirts, hoodies, and pants, you can keep each type in its own group. It makes your store a lot easier to organise down the road.
So over here on the right-hand side, let's find collections. Click on Add collections. Click Add new collection. And for the title, I'll name this t-shirts. For the collection type, I'll set this to manual. And right here, you can also upload a collection image. In my case, I'll click on add image. And I'll just use the image of the t-shirt we just uploaded. Click on Done. And click Save. And as you can see right here, the product is now in the t-shirts collection.
And then as you add in your other products, you can do this for each one and create its own collection the exact same way. Now let's scroll up to the top and click save. And now we have successfully created our first product and collection. So now I'll go back over to the products tab on the left. And if you have more products, you can go to the top right and click on add product and repeat the process I just showed you.
I'll go ahead and do this for my other products that I want in my store. All right, so now all of my products and collections are added in here and they're ready to go. From here, we're able to transition into actually building your store. Before we bring in Claude Code, there are two quick things that I want to show you that'll make your build go a lot smoother. First, let's go over to the left-hand side here. Scroll down and click on Online Store.
And from here, you'll see your store's current theme, which is the horizon theme. Right now, it's completely empty because we haven't adjusted anything just yet. But we'll come back to this shortly. Now from here, it's time to think about what you actually want your store to look like. Maybe you already have a store that you love that you want to use as inspiration. Or maybe you've made some mock-ups of your own. But if you're not sure where to start, let me show you the easiest way.
Scroll down the page right here. And you'll find the Shopify theme library. You can go through all of these different themes and pull out different sections of them depending on what you like. So for example here, I'll scroll all the way down and click on visit theme store. And since I'm building a clothing store, I like the look of this one right here, so I'll click into it. Click on View demo. And then I'll maximise the window right here.
And now I'm able to scroll through this theme and take screenshots of all the different sections that I like. So for example, here I could take a screenshot of this hero section. Then I could scroll down here. And I like how this product display looks right here. So I could take a screenshot of this. I could also click into a collection right here. Scroll down and click into this t-shirt right here, which is an example that I'm using on my store as well.
And then I could take a screenshot of this product page as well. So whenever you see something you like on one of these themes, just take a screenshot of it. You can mix and match from as many themes as you want. Then I'd recommend saving all of your screenshots into a folder because then we can hand it off to Claude Code to use as a reference. This way, it knows exactly what you want to do. exactly what kind of look you're going for.
So now that I have all of my screenshots compiled together, I'll just go up to the top here and I'll close out of this tab. Then I'll scroll back up to the top here. And I also want to quickly show you exactly how I've organised all of my assets for my Shopify store, because a little bit of tidiness here makes the rest of the process much easier. So I'll open up this folder here on my computer. And here you can see exactly how I'm organising everything.
The first folder here is my product photos, which we've already used. Then we have my store inspiration images. Right here you can see everything that I've screenshotted. I have my hero section, my homepage customer reviews, my homepage product display, an our story page, and then a product page. So you can have a more or less of these screenshots depending on the types of pages and sections you need within your store.
But this is how I've organised everything right here. I'll go back here. Then I have my store logo. I just created this using Canva. I have a version with a background along with a transparent dark and light version. Go back once again. And then the last folder I have here is my homepage images. These are just the lifestyle photos that I want around my store. For me, these are just stock photos that I pulled from a free website called Pexels.
But in your case, you could generate these with AI or you could take them yourself. It's totally up to you and is dependent on your store. So with this process right here, we can hand everything off to Claude Code and it can build our store using real assets and real inspiration from themes on Shopify. Now your folder structure doesn't have to look exactly like mine does, but I wanted to show this to you just in case you find it helpful.
All right. So now our products are in. We've gathered our inspiration and all of our assets are organised and ready to go. So now it's finally time to bring in Claude Code and start actually building our store. So let's head over there and get into it. So I'll start by minimising this folder right here. Then I'll go ahead and open up Windows PowerShell again. And this will bring us back to Claude Code. The first thing we'll do here is type /exit and press Enter.
This will bring you back to your regular terminal. Now we'll make a fresh empty folder so everything that we do lands in one clean place. Let's type mkdir my-store-build. Then press Enter. Then type cd my-store-build. Then press Enter. Now you're inside of that folder. Now we'll connect Claude to your store. We'll do this by copying your store's theme onto your computer. So let's start by typing in shopify theme pull --store.
And then we need to find your Shopify store's domain name. To find yours, let's go back over to our Shopify dashboard. Then go down to the bottom left and find settings. And then here at the top, you'll see your domain name. Just go ahead and highlight this. And then copy it. And then go ahead and open up the PowerShell or terminal again. Now we'll click back into it here. Press Space. And then paste in that domain name here.
I'll use Control + Shift + V. Press Space. Then type --live. Then press Enter. Then it should automatically open up this tab right here. You'll need to log into your Shopify account right here. So go ahead and enter your email address. Click continue. Then enter your password. Click Log in. And then here it's asking you to confirm this code. If we go ahead and open up Windows PowerShell again, you'll see this code appear right here.
So that tells us that we're logging into the correct device. So I'll switch back over here. And we'll click Confirm and login. Now with that done, we can go ahead and close out of this tab. And we'll close out of our settings. Now let's go ahead and open up PowerShell once again. And you'll see this message right here. It says that your theme horizon has been pulled successfully. That means that Claude grabbed a copy of your store's current theme and it pulled it right into your folder.
So now your whole store is sitting right here on your computer. And that means that Claude can finally see it and start working with it. Now there's just one more thing to set up before we build the store. Claude can see your store now, but it doesn't automatically know all the details of how Shopify works. So let's give it that knowledge. Now paste in the next command, which you'll also find in the guide below. And I'll press enter on my keyboard.
Now let's go ahead and hand Claude everything it needs to design your store all in one place. Remember that Shopify store assets folder that I put together and showed you earlier? We're going to drop a copy of it right into your project. First, let's make the folder for it. Let's type in mkdir inspiration. Then press Enter. This creates an empty folder called inspiration inside your project. Now, since most of your images are picture files, we'll grab them using your file explorer.
Next, we'll type explorer Space and then a period. Press Enter. And now your project folder will pop up in a window here. And then you'll see the inspiration folder that we just created right here. Let's go ahead and enter this folder by double clicking on it. And then I want to go over to my Shopify store assets folder that I showed you a little bit ago. I have that right here on the left hand side. So I'll right click on it.
Click Open in new tab. I'll open that right here. And then I'll just copy everything right here. I'll switch back over to the inspiration folder. And then I'll paste in everything right here. And that's it. You have your homepage images, your product photos, your store inspiration images, and your store logo all within your project here. And now Claude Code will be able to see everything. Okay, let's go ahead and minimise this here to get back over to PowerShell.
And from here, let's go ahead and type in Claude. And then press Enter. Press Enter again. Press Enter one more time here. And here you'll see the option to turn on the Claude in Chrome extension. You can choose if you want to turn this on. But in my case, I'll just say no since we won't need it. And press Enter. And there we go. We've now opened Claude Code right inside of your project. Now from here, you might think you just tell Claude to build you a store and just go for it.
But we'll do this in a smart way, in a way that actually gets you a great result. Instead of just giving it one giant command, we're going to have Claude explore your store first, ask you a few questions about your brand, show us a plan, and then build your store one section at a time. So then we can look at each piece as it comes together. It's honestly a lot like working with a real designer. So we'll start with our first prompt to kick everything off.
Go ahead and go over to the guide linked in the description, and you'll find an initial prompt to give to Claude Code. I'll go ahead and paste in the prompt right here. And then you'll see the prompt right here. This is basically just giving Claude Code a few initial instructions and some guidelines. The one thing I want to mention here is to make sure that you change out your brand name. Right here, you'll see I changed it to Metics Fashion Store.
And if you're pulling this straight from the guide, this will be a placeholder. Feel free to adjust this prompt however you want. This is basically just a starting point. So I'll press enter to send this. And now Claude, it will start by reading through your theme and your inspiration folder to understand what it's working with. Give it just a moment, and it's going to come back and start asking you about your store.
So the first question that it's asking me here is about the visual style. It's letting me know that the inspiration mock-ups that I gave it from the Shopify theme I used as an example are very loud with the blue and yellow colours. But it's saying that the Metics logo and product photography that I included are clean and neutral. So it just wants to know which visual direction to build in. In here, it'll give me a few different options that I can select.
And I'll press Enter to go with the first one here. Now it's asking me which sections I want on the homepage. I'll press Enter to select the hero section. To go to the next one, I'll press the down arrow and then select shop by category. I'll also include featured products, reviews, and story. And if I want to include anything else, I can type that here. I'm happy with everything here and I don't think that I need anything else.
So I'll go down to Next. Press Enter. Now it's asking me about the fonts I want to go with. It's asking me if I want to keep the Inter font. I like that choice, so I'll press Enter. All right. Now the next thing it's asking us here is how we want to preview each section as we build it. We have three options here. We have the local dev server, an unpublished preview theme, or static mockups. I'd recommend going with the local dev server.
That name does sound a little technical, but don't worry about this. It actually is really simple. All it means is that you get a private live preview of your store that runs right on your computer, and only you can see it. And as Claude builds out each section, the preview updates all on its own. So you actually get to watch your store come together in real time. So I'll press Enter to go with the local dev server. And then I'll press Enter to submit my answers.
And as it begins building, you'll most likely see this appear. It'll say that this command requires approval. This will most likely happen quite a few times during the build. And in most cases, you'll just go down and press Yes, and don't ask again for this specific thing. So I'll press Enter. Now you'll have to sit through this process and work with Claude as it asks for permission to do certain things. And when it does ask you, just go ahead and approve those commands.
Okay, and then after a couple minutes, Claude will come back with a couple requests. In this case, it's asking us for our Shopify URL. This is the same URL that we found earlier within our Shopify settings. And then it's also wanting us to confirm the plan. It says here that once we confirm, it's just going to build the hero section and have us preview it before it moves on to anything else. So here I'll paste in my Shopify URL.
And then I'll say, go ahead with building the first section. Keep in mind here that you're able to communicate with Claude Code using plain English. So if you have any questions or yours comes back with something slightly different, you can work with it to figure out what you need to do next. So I'll press Enter to send this. And it will begin building out the first section of our Shopify store. And just like before here, you'll have to sit through this process and step in if it needs any approval.
And once it goes through all of that, I'll meet you at the next step. Okay, Claude has now built our hero section. But before we can actually see it, we need to switch to the live preview. So let's scroll up right here. And you should see this prompt here. Let's highlight this. And we'll open up a new PowerShell tab. And if you're on Mac, you would just open up a new terminal window here. Let's start by stepping into our project folder.
Type cd my-store-build. Press Enter. And then paste in that command. Press Enter again. And now it's going to ask you for your store password. You may think that it's asking for your Shopify account password, but it's actually asking for something else. Let's go ahead and switch back over to Shopify here. And here with an online store, you'll see this. Click on Edit password. And you'll see the auto-generated password for your store right here.
We'll just copy this and then reopen PowerShell. Then just go ahead and paste in that password right here. And press Enter. And right here, you'll see this link. Just go ahead and copy this. Switch back over to your browser. Open up a new tab. And paste in that link. Press Enter. And then you'll get a live preview of your store here. And here's where we can start making changes. If you see anything here within the preview that you want to change, you'll just go back to Claude and tell it to fix it in plain English.
And right now you can see the only thing it built out was the hero section. So it did exactly what I told it to do. And if there's anything you want to change, like the images, the wording, the size here on this hero section, you just tell Claude in plain English the changes that you want, and it can adjust it for you live. And when you're happy with it, you simply tell it to move on to the next section. So for example here, one quick change that I want it to make is that whenever I actually come to the website for the first time, everything just kind of appears on the screen at once.
I want there to be a nice easing animation to all of the assets on screen. And then whenever I scroll down, I think it would be great if the new sections would kind of slowly fade in. So I'll switch back over to Claude and ask for that change. I'll go ahead and open up my PowerShell. Switch back over to my Claude code tab. And then here I'll request the change. I think the hero section looks great. I'd like the text images and sections to have a clean easing animation when they appear on the website.
Right now, everything loads in very quickly and doesn't look very polished. So as you can see here, I'm just using completely plain English. I'm not typing in codes or commands. I'm speaking to Claude like it's a designer. So to request this change, I'll press Enter. And now it's going to go through and make those changes for me. And if it needs any input or has any questions, it'll ask me the same way it did earlier.
All right, and now Claude has finished making those changes. Right here you can see that it says to refresh the preview and see how the animations look. And if I need anything else changed, like the speed and the stagger timing, I can ask for that request here. So I'll come back here and I'll refresh this page. And yeah, take a look at that. Whenever I refresh the page here and I arrive to my store for the first time, you can see now the text and the images and everything kind of moves when I arrive.
I think that looks way better than everything just remaining static. So that's the exact process with working with Claude to build your store. You receive the first version of your store and then slowly make your changes. This is the exact workflow that you'll use for customising your entire store. Now with that done, I'll switch back over to PowerShell. And now I'm going to tell it to move into the next section. This looks great.
Go ahead and build the next section in the same style. And now Claude will go ahead and build out the next section of my store. And now the next section is done. I'll switch back over to my store here. I'll scroll down and check it out. And that looks really clean. The one thing I'm noticing immediately though, is that the icons it gave this are not actually matching the category. I'll go ahead and let Claude know to fix this.
I'll say this new section looks great, but the icons don't match the category. Give this section a quality check. Send this. And we'll wait for that revision. Okay, it's gone ahead and made those changes for us. So let's take a look. And yeah, I think these icons do look a lot better. We can always go back in and refine these a little bit later, but this allows us to move on to the next section. So I'll say, let's move on to the next section.
And I'm noticing here that we're building the featured product section next. If you remember earlier on in the video, we added in our products first. So here I also want to make sure that Claude keeps in mind that we have products existing already within our Shopify store. And I want to make sure it actually uses those products. So I'll say, my store already has three products within it. For the featured products section, make sure you actually use the three real products.
I'll go ahead and send this. And we'll wait for that to come back. And now our featured product section is ready for review. I'll switch back over to my store. I'll refresh the page. And I'll scroll down. And here we can see our featured products. And I think this looks really good. So now we have three sections made. It's time to move on to our fourth and final section. Open up PowerShell here, and I'll say, looks great.
Let's move to the final section. Send this. And now our final section is ready for review. Switch back over to my store. Refresh again. Scroll down here. And now we have our customer reviews. Right now the names, the text, and the images are all placeholders. But we can update this later down the road. And below this, we have the story section. I think this also looks really solid here. And now if I scroll all the way back up the page, I think everything comes together very well between all of our sections.
The store looks really polished, professional, and it only took me a few minutes to get set up after all of the initial configuration. Now within Claude Code, I want to do one quick thing. I'll tell it, all of the sections look great. Do one last pass for quality and make any potential improvements so the store looks as polished and professional as possible. And I'll send this. And this is basically our final quality pass.
I like to do this at the end of a store build, just so that way Claude can catch anything it may have missed and make any potential last minute improvements. Now, once again, we'll wait for this to finish up. All right. Now, as you can see right here, Claude has gone through and done its final quality pass. It looks like it changed a lot of stuff on the back end and just polished up some stuff. To check out the final result, I'll switch back over to the store, refresh.
And everything here looks about the same, but I'm really happy with the final result. Now, I want to send another prompt and change out some other miscellaneous things. And I'll just simply list those out for Claude to create. So here I'll say there's a few more things I need you to do. First, create polished product pages for my three products. Polish my store's header and make sure it includes my logo. Create a footer at the bottom of my store.
That includes my policy links. And overall, polish the rest of the store aside from the homepage. So right now what I'm noticing with the store and the reason why I'm setting this prompt overall is because if we look at our header here, this is just the default header that comes with the Shopify Horizon theme. And so I want this to be customised to fit the rest of our store's aesthetic. And then at the very bottom of the page here, I'm noticing that we don't really have a footer.
And as well as that, if we go into one of the products here, this looks pretty good, but it could be a bit more customised for our store. So I'm going to send one mass prompt here just because these are very small fixes. And I'll let Claude go through and make the changes. So I'll go ahead and send that prompt. And we'll wait for that to come back. Now Claude has gone ahead and made a few of the changes I requested and gave us an update here.
I scroll up. It says here that the policy links will only appear once you create policies in the Shopify admin settings. If we add them there, they'll show automatically in the footer below. So that's good to know for now because we'll take care of that a little bit later on. So right now pretty much Claude just wants us to take a look at the header and footer and see what we think. So at the top here, I can see now that my logo is actually included.
And then my home catalogue and contact pages are listed on the left. And notice here as well that it looks like it changed the text on the banner. And if I scroll down to the bottom, our footer looks a lot better now. And then yeah, when we add in our policy links, they'll appear down here later. So overall, it's looking a lot better. So here's what I'll say to Claude next. I'll say all changes look good. I think I want to remove the banner at the top.
Yeah, I'm thinking that I actually don't really like this banner here at the top very much. So I'm going to tell Claude to just get rid of it. And as well as that, I don't really like how the home catalogue and contact pages appear here on the left. I kind of want them in a hamburger menu. It's where we can just click on it and then all the pages will appear. So I'll include that change as well. Also for home catalogue and contact, let's move those into a hamburger menu.
Send this. And we'll wait for those changes. Okay, so now it looks like all of those changes have been made. I'm excited to go ahead and take a look here. So on our product page, I like this a lot. It's now in like a slideshow. So I can click through here and see all the different images. And before, all the images were just kind of scattered on the page. So already that looks really good. And then here, the banner is now gone.
On the left side here, we have this hamburger menu. We also have our products down here as well to look at. And I also want to take a look at our catalogue page here. Nice. So it's gone through and done some polish on this page here. We have this nice banner. Then we have our products below. And we'll also take a look at our contact page. We have another really cool banner here. And then our contact form. Now, if you want any other changes to your store, or for example, if you want new pages here, if you want anything reordered, or any changes going forward, you now have the principles and you understand exactly how to do it.
So with all these changes done, I think I'm ready to go ahead and finalise our store's theme, and then move into some of the backend settings. So here's the next thing that will tell Claude. I'm ready to publish this to my live theme. Send this. Now Claude's going to go ahead and work through that request and let us know if it needs anything from us. And now Claude has come back and told us exactly what we have to do next.
Let's scroll up here. And here's the next steps. We need to copy this command right here. Then we'll switch over to our other PowerShell tab. This is where we were previewing our theme. Inside of here, we'll press Ctrl + C on our keyboard. Then we'll paste in the command. Press Enter on our keyboard. And now it's going to upload this theme that we just created to our Shopify store. But it's not going to be published yet, so we can still make some final changes manually if we need to.
So now with that done, let's go ahead and minimise out of the PowerShell window here. And now we can go ahead and close this preview tab as well. Go down and click on Online Store. Then scroll down the page. And here's the theme that we just uploaded. On the right side, click on Edit theme. And then right here, I'm able to edit the Shopify theme just like I would for any other Shopify theme. Just because we built it with Claude Code doesn't mean that we can't manually change things on our own.
That's one of my favourite parts about building my Shopify store using Claude Code. So for example here, if I want to change out the text within this hero section, I just click into it. And then on the left hand side, I have all the different settings. I can easily change the text here just by double clicking on it. And I could remove the text. And I can add it back in as well. Scrolling down, I have even more settings.
And I can also change out the image as well if I want to. And you can also reorder your sections as well here on the left. So for example, I can grab this section, and I can move it down. And that changes the entire format of my homepage. I can undo a change here in the top right. And if I want to add in a new section, I just go between a section here and click on this blue plus. I have all sorts of other sections I could add in here as well.
One thing that I do want to quickly check before we move on to some of our back-end settings is how our store looks on mobile devices. You can do that by going up here to this mobile phone icon. You click into it. And you can see that your store is actually already optimised for mobile devices. So regardless if somebody visits your store on desktop or mobile, it's going to look good. But I would recommend going through all of your different pages and all of your different sections and making sure everything looks good on both desktop and mobile.
Once you're happy, you can go to the top right and click on save. And we'll go ahead and exit this for now by going to the top left. Let's go to the bottom left here and find settings. And let's start by changing our store's name. Click right here. And let's go ahead and edit the name here to say Metics Fashion Store. We'll save that. Then on the left side, let's find payments. I would recommend setting up Shopify payments here.
You want to do this so that way you can actually get paid for your products. Just click on Complete setup and go through the steps. It's pretty straightforward and only takes a few minutes. After that, let's go down to shipping and delivery. Right here, you'll see your shipping profile. Click into it here. And here you'll find your shipping zones. I'd recommend for most stores just offering free shipping. So in my case, I'll go ahead and just delete the express shipping option.
And then for my standard shipping, I'll edit this. Click on edit shipping option. I'll change the name to Free Shipping. I'll go down and find the offer free shipping button and make sure this is turned on. And for the order amount, I'll just set this to $10. If you want, you can change the rate type here. You can change the price if you want to. But since it's going to be free anyways, it doesn't really matter. And you can also change the transit time as well.
I'll set this to five to eight business days. Then in the top right, click on done. And below this, you'll have your international shipping zones. I would go through here and configure the exact shipping settings for international shipping and depending on what you want to offer. But if you don't want to offer any international shipping, you can go to the top right here. Click on these three dots and just delete this zone entirely.
So for my store, I'm just offering free shipping within the United States, which is where I'll operate my business. With that done, go to the top and click on save. And then on the left, find taxes and duties. Right here, you'll see that the Shopify tax service is automatically active and you're able to adjust the regions where you're going to collect taxes. In my case, I'll just be worrying about the United States. So I'll click into this here.
And I can see more information regarding the tax status for this country. If you're unsure about any of this, I'd recommend talking to a tax professional. With that done, let's scroll down and find our policies. And here are the policy pages that we talked about earlier. We have a few of these that we need to configure here. Let's click into return and refund policy. And for some of these policies, you'll see this option to insert a template.
This is a great way to get started and get your policy pages up and running. I would recommend scrolling through these and seeing if anything needs to be changed. Like for example, here you have this placeholder that says to insert return address. So you need to delete this and actually enter your return address here. Once you're done, click on publish. And then go through and set the other policy pages for the rest here as well.
And one thing you may notice here is that the shipping policy doesn't actually have a template available. That's because you need to create your own shipping policy. You can just use an AI like Claude for this. Just let it know your exact shipping policy, the regions that you're offering shipping to. And it's going to be able to write a shipping policy on your behalf. So here I'll just put write your shipping policy here and publish.
And for most businesses, you don't need to worry about the legal notice. However, once again, I don't really know the specifics of your business. So if you're unsure about this, I would definitely just talk to a professional. And the last page that I want to show you here in settings is your domains. So right now you're currently using the default Shopify domain. And long term, I wouldn't recommend using this. If you want a professional domain, you can connect an existing domain here in the top right.
Or you can buy a new domain through Shopify. Click on buy new domain. And then here I could change my domain to meticsfashionstore.com for just $16 a year. So long term for a professional online store, I would highly recommend getting a .com domain just like this. Now once you're done here, let's go to the top right and close out of this. Go back over to Online Store on the left. Let's go down and find our theme here.
Click on Edit theme. Let's scroll all the way down to the bottom. And here we'll see our policy pages. And with that final step done, we're ready to publish our store. Go to the top right and click on Publish. Click on Publish here. And then here, click on Remove password. And just like that, your store is online and open to everyone. To see your store, click on View store. And there we go. Our store's theme that we created in Claude Code is transferred perfectly.
You've now got your Shopify store fully up and running with Claude Code.
