During a hunt for special people, the soldiers ran into a freak. They gathered the best hunters to catch this kid, but they were getting wrecked. This kid is way faster and tougher than any other special. He dodged the bullets and wiped out the soldiers with insane skill nobody had ever seen before. The captain froze in shock, wondering where this monster came from. In this world, there are several types of specials.
The immortals, shifters, superhumans, and the mages. This guy right here is Yugangik, the only mutant who mixed two insane powers and became a total anomaly. Years ago, monsters invaded the world and nearly wiped out humanity. Then, a group of specials showed up with powers way beyond any human limit. Thanks to them, humanity survived the attacks. But once the danger was gone, the nation turned on this group because they didn't need them anymore.
They had to go into hiding and live disguised among normal people. 20 years later, Yugangik was living a normal life, thinking he and his family were ordinary. But in the middle of shopping at the market, his dad drops the bomb that he's immortal. The craziest part is the kid just accepted it like it was nothing. But there's still one condition. He can't tell his mom because in the worst case, they could end up divorced.
A little while later, the two finally get home, and no way, they start making out right in front of their son. Like I mentioned before, this woman is from the shifter class, and since they awaken at 18, the MC definitely wasn't far from awakening himself. A bit later, his mom asks what he wants for his birthday present, but the kid says he doesn't want anything, and he's already grateful she raised him. hearing that the two just stand there all happy while Guangik thinks he definitely has some pretty special parents.
Even so, he wanted to know why they hide their identities from each other. A few minutes later, the kid was already lying in bed thinking that according to his dad, he's going to awaken as an immortal in a few hours. Earlier, he'd already talked to his dad to find out if he felt any pain during the process. But he knows very well that last time he awakened, it wasn't exactly a fun experience, which means the guy isn't a normal person anymore.
Back then, after awakening, Guangit got completely ripped and out of nowhere, his mom shows up in the bathroom asking what he thought about it. Apparently, his senses are sharper now. Plus, he thought he was going to pass out while awakening. Anyway, he won't have to go through all that again. The scene cuts back to the present with Guangik thinking he hasn't noticed any difference since becoming an immortal. But right then, he noticed a change because his hearing is now extremely sharp.
Besides, he wanted to know if he'd be able to hide this from everyone else. Heading to the dinner table, his dad tells him to start preparing for the civil service exams, but his mom disagrees. He's old enough to go to college. They keep arguing about it and the MC thinks immortals usually get jobs related to the government. His dad is probably trying to push him into one of those spots, but his mom definitely has a different plan because right now he's stronger and that's all thanks to her blood.
There's more shifters can do besides physical strength and to be exact, it's instinct. Right now, he can't tell the difference, but in the future, there'll be situations where it'll matter, and that's why he'll go to college to get into a company, but it's not just any place since he'll be able to train his abilities there. And back to the present, the two decide to ask the MC what he actually wants to do. He answers that he wanted to join something called UDT.
Basically, it's like this world's version of the army. And at first, his mom didn't seem too thrilled about the idea. On the other hand, his dad found it interesting, but he still can't do it right now and has to go take that stupid public exam first. If he passes, he can go straight to where he wants. And thinking it all over, Guangik agrees. With that, his dad had already lined someone up to help him. And a while later, the kid was already off traveling to meet this person, thinking that at first what he wanted wasn't to be a soldier.
In that world full of countless portals, there were all kinds of mysterious resources. But in the end, all that's history now because humanity is still recovering. His mom didn't want him fighting in those battles, so he decided to honor her wish and his own at the same time. And that's how he ended up becoming a soldier. With that, the scene shifts somewhere else and some random guy was talking with the MC's dad. This is the guy who's going to train the poor kid who, after meeting him, is caught off guard by his looks.
Even being an immortal, the guy's pretty jacked. And then our hero explains the whole situation with his parents. From what his dad said, he came here to study for the public exam. And judging by the guy's looks, he's probably an immortal, too. but he still wanted to know why they're heading up the mountain, but it hits him the second he gets there because the place looks like straight up hell. The instructor asks if he knows the concept behind how their bodies heal wounds.
First off, a healthy immortal has strong healing power. Plus, the senses matter, too. And basically, training both of those will boost his regeneration. With that, the MC seemed to get it, but he still wanted to know what any of this crap has to do with his training. Ever since he got there, he thought he'd be studying with paper and a pen. and hearing that the instructor asks what he's even talking about since he's about to sign up for the immortal special forces.
Of course, the kid had no clue about any of this because his dad never mentioned it. And that's when his hellish training officially began. The teacher said it was basically the same as becoming a soldier. Guangik thought his father had really sent him to special forces prep and the teacher asked if he was going to keep standing there. The protagonist figured that once he passed, he could do what he wanted anyway, so he agreed.
Soon after, the teacher handed him shorts and told him to change if he didn't want to ruin his clothes and to take off his shoes, too. A little later, the protagonist came back, changed, and faced a course covered with blades. He told himself it was fine. The exam was just a lot different from what he'd imagined. Then, the teacher ordered him to move, and screams rang out. He kept yelling at him not to loosen up. If an enemy was chasing him, would he stop to rest?
Then, after a while, the MC made it through the blades, his legs sliced up. The teacher said he had even dodged a few metal pieces in the middle. That kind of physical training wasn't bad at all. The others couldn't do that. Then he checked his legs and said his healing was impressive, too. His regeneration would get faster each time. He shouldn't dodge the blades. He should step right on them and make the cuts deeper.
He could even chop something off if needed. The protagonist thought this guy was insane. The mentor told him not to overreact and ordered him to run again. The protagonist could only think, "What kind of lunatic is this?" Then he said he was an immortal, so this won't kill him. He needs to get up and keep going. Run. The protagonist asked how long this was supposed to last, and the teacher said first, he had to get used to the shock.
Little by little, his pain limit would rise. This blade field was meant to prepare him for battlefield panic from extreme pain or passing out. The teacher asked why his body still hadn't gone into shock, and whether it really hurt. Guangek yelled that it did. He realized he was a werewolf first and an immortal second. Werewolves were tough, so even if he ran on blades forever, he probably still wouldn't go into shock.
He asked to do something else, but the teacher only asked how fast he ran 50 m. He answered about 6 seconds. The teacher said this course was about 50 m, too. If he could clear the blade field in 6 seconds, he'd count as a real candidate. MC agreed and warned him not to take it back later. In his head, he figured he had said 6 seconds for an easy run, not going all out. Still, even if he couldn't shut off the pain, he had to ignore it as much as he could.
Then, he decided to sprint with everything he had. He was sure he could finish in 6 seconds. Then he charged straight through the blades. When he stopped, he felt sure he'd made the time. The teacher called him cocky, then yelled for him to do it again. He'd forgotten to start the timer. Later, the teacher gave him a collar for the second lesson and said he'd need to put it around his neck. The protagonist said it already felt awful and asked what they were doing this time.
The teacher explained that once he pushed the button, the collar would start choking him. He was told to put it on and pull it tight. Really tight. Was he seriously going to quit that fast after running across blades? Guam click crouched down and asked if he could just practice by holding his breath underwater. The teacher asked if he really thought that was enough. This was about building endurance while being strangled.
If he blacked out in a fight, he was done. Just like with the blades, the goal was to push through as fast and hard as possible. After a horrible year of war, regular people had learned ways to fight them, so they needed to learn the opposite. He said they used to train by hanging from trees, and compared to that, this was easier. The protagonist asked what it took to move on to the next lesson. The teacher said there were no special conditions.
If he stayed conscious for 5 minutes, he passed. And if he tried to take off the collar or grabbed the remote, he'd get a hole in his chest. After that, the protagonist said he was ready. The teacher pressed the button and said they were starting. Before long, the protagonist's body started shaking from lack of air, and he reached for the collar. The teacher smacked him with a stick and barked at him to take his hands off.
He said the protagonist could last longer, but if it was that hard, then quit. The protagonist kept wondering when the 5 minutes would end. To him, it felt like way more time had already passed. He was running out of air and thought he was about to black out. Then the collar suddenly came loose. The teacher snapped, asking why the hell it had turned off. Maybe the batteries had died. The protagonist gasped that he had almost died.
The teacher reminded him that he couldn't die. Guangik said he never passed out, so they weren't doing that again, right? He was sure it had been over 5 minutes. The teacher said yes, 12 minutes and 47 seconds to be exact. MC remembered him saying the best time before this was 8 minutes. How was he supposed to explain that? The teacher told him not to stare like a kid who just found a new toy. A little later, they went back to the house and the teacher said he could rest for today, but first he had to eat.
The protagonist said, "Wow." So, they actually fed him here. The teacher replied that he couldn't train well if he was starving. Besides, it would wreck his stamina. The protagonist asked if he could help, but was told to sit down. He figured that was fine since he couldn't cook anyway. Soon, the teacher set a plate in front of him. He asked what was in it. The teacher asked if he really wanted to know. A little later, the main character stood by the water, ringing out his shirt and thinking that next time he'd cook for himself.
When he got home, he was absolutely asking his mother to teach him to cook. No, first he needed to talk to his father. He wished he could call right then, but he had no phone. Climbing up the rock, he complained about how tired he was. All he wanted was bed. Then he went inside and after killing a mosquito, asked why they didn't have any lights. The teacher said bugs swarmed bright lamps, so darkness had its perks. Then he looked at the sleeping teacher and lay down beside him.
The teacher said this training was supposed to dull his sense of touch. For them, touch could trigger anxiety more than for others. It would feel strange at first and he might not sleep well. Then he glanced at the student already asleep and just said, "Oh well." The next day, he woke the student and said breakfast was ready. The MC stared at the food, sighed hard, and wished him a good appetite. The teacher said immortals burned a lot of energy, so he needed to eat properly.
The protagonist asked what today's training was. He answered, "Cliff diving. He'd learned to hold his breath in the air before impact." MC said, "So, this was like yesterday. Immortals had to watch out for shock from heavy hits and from passing out." The teacher confirmed it and told him not to forget. When your legs are hurt, your movement gets worse, so you have to protect yourself with your hands. If an enemy tries to finish you in one hit, block first.
For example, if they're aiming at your head or legs, he said knives were a bigger threat than guns, and swords or explosives were even worse. Guangek said he got it, though he wondered why the example sounded so old. The teacher told him to eat faster so they could start, and he spent the whole day training. The next day, he was already on the bus home. He called his father and asked if he had really sent him to the right place.
His father asked what happened, and he said the teacher made him jump off mountains. His father said that was fine. He was immortal since he was so hard to kill. Pushing his body like that was the best way to find his limits. The protagonist thought he'd only just learned how unbreakable his body really was. His father praised him and told him to go home and rest. The protagonist asked what kind of exam he was even preparing for.
His father said the teacher would handle that and that he'd call later. Guangik knew pressing him more wouldn't change anything, so he decided to just rest today, take a shower, play console games, eat his mother's good food, and sleep in his own bed for about 12 hours without mosquitoes. Honestly, it sounded perfect. when he his mother handed him his suitcase and said she and his father had decided he still needed to prepare for university.
The protagonist stared at his stuff in shock. His mother said she knew a teacher who lived nearby. He'd stay there for a couple of days and the man would teach him everything. The protagonist got a bad feeling. Sylvia said she'd pick him up in 2 days. He asked if she still wasn't going to tell him what kind of person was waiting for him. She said being smart wasn't enough. His body needed training, too. That's when it hit him what was really waiting ahead.
There had never been any university prep at all. Damn family. Then he reached the right floor. Looking around, he said the place looked like a gym. Had they really turned a parking lot into this. Just then, Jay walked up and asked if he was Suhi's son. He said yes, though he had no idea why his mother had sent him here. The teacher said Sui told him to study with her for 2 days. He needed to train his body along with his mind.
The protagonist thought he couldn't even tell his mother the truth. It was seriously unfair. Ever since he was little, his mother's way of raising him had been simple. If he messed up, she made sure he paid for it. until he learned responsibility. After 20 years, that way of thinking was already part of him. Fighting back wouldn't change anything. One look told him there was no escape. Then she tossed him a device and that alone made him nervous.
He said he was already getting a phobia from being handed stuff like this and asked what it was. She said it measured different body stats. He had to wear one on his wrist and another on his ankle. He asked if she was going to train him and she said they were starting with tests. First, he had to run. So, he got on the treadmill and started running. While checking her phone, she said she'd heard he'd been training. His heart rate looked decent and he was holding up well, but then she asked if that was really all he had.
He wondered why she was mocking him. Jay sighed and called him lazy, saying, "Kids these days life too easy." The protagonist thought they didn't even seem that far apart in age. Then again, immortals and werewolves aged slowly, so maybe she was older than she looked. He asked how long he was supposed to keep running, and she told him not to stop. They'd begin with cardio and slowly rebuild his whole body. She said she'd remake him from head to toe.
He replied that he didn't need a second mother. She laughed and called him funny, but he wasn't joking. By night, he was still running. She kept telling him not to stop, saying if he did, he'd shame his ancestors. Then she checked the time and said 14 hours, 4 minutes, and 30 seconds. The protagonist realized she really meant to make him run all night with no break. At least his last training had breaks. She asked why he didn't trust his powers.
Without training, he was just an amateur. He needed to watch and remember. They'd do those stretches later. He thought, "What kind of crazy move was that? Who can bend around like that?" She explained that he needed more flexibility. Logs are always at a disadvantage. He wondered when he'd ever need that, but if he tried to ask, he'd just choke. Even with werewolf stamina running that long left him gasping. Jay asked the time and he answered, "14 hours 10 minutes." He figured he should keep track in case she asked again.
Watching the video, listening to her, and remembering everything made this brutal, but he was still keeping up. He remembered the teacher saying he'd learned to shut out his senses, but that alone wasn't enough. If he blocked out too much, his movements got slow and messy. He had to silence only the extra noise in his head. Then his other senses would sharpen. In other words, he had to use his senses for more than one thing at once.
He thought about tracking time, memorizing moves, and listening to the teacher all while running. That meant he was handling four things at once. Running alone already pulled at his focus. Memorizing the video and listening to the explanation weren't the same job. If he stopped focusing on keeping time, the rest would get easier. After a while, he shouted 24 hours. The treadmill finally stopped and he yelled that he was done at last.
Jui checked the timer and said he wasn't stupid after all. Then they moved on to stretching and she told him to loosen up. Flexibility mattered a lot. He had to remember everything. She'd show the move once and he had to copy it. Then she demonstrated and he was stunned by how flexible she was. She told him to start. He tried copying her, but she warned him not to push too hard. His body needed time to get used to it.
He had to repeat the same motion every day and slowly bend farther. Basically like stretching a muscle over time. He wondered why he had to go slow. If he pulled the muscles little by little, wouldn't healing just return them to normal? Then what was the point? With immortality, torn muscles would heal fast anyway? He only had to put up with the pain for a bit. Then he suddenly forced his back into a deep arch. And the teacher shouted, "What the hell?
Was he crazy? She told him not to do that. Why had no one taught him to listen to his elders? He just asked if he'd done it right. She sighed and admitted, "Yeah, he was incredible." Then Jui called it there and said it was time for dinner. He looked at the meal and said, "A whole pig?" She said, "Yes, it was all for him." Then she showed her own portion. He thought, "One for each of us?" She told him to eat well. He needed to learn how to store energy for later.
He asked like a bear before hibernation. Then they ate and she told him not to clean up after. Just toss everything into a pile. Training only 2 days a week wouldn't be enough for his goal. He agreed. And the food tasted amazing, even if it was just seasoned pork. Maybe it was because he hadn't eaten anything that good in 24 hours. She told him to finish every last bite. If he left anything, he was done for. He said he was raised not to waste food.
Then she told him she was leaving, and once he finished eating, he should go straight to bed. Later, sitting in the room, he thought this still beat sleeping in the forest with mosquitoes. At least he could use his phone here, unlike in the village. Maybe he should call his mother. When he did, she asked if everything was okay. He thought, "Wow, now she's worried after sending me here." He said he was fine. And she replied that she'd already told her a hundred times not to go easy on him just because they knew each other.
So, she was worried, but also asking for harsher training. Was she being too soft? Then she said, "Dad was back and had to hang up." He was left wondering if his mom was worried at all. On the second day, he noticed something. Immortal training was insane, but werewolf training was all about forcing your body past its limit. How many kilos could he lift? What? That weight was ridiculous. at least three sets. Knowing your limit and pushing past it was the key to learning.
On top of that, their training used all kinds of methods, machines, and electronic trackers, too. That was the conclusion he got from these sessions. The teacher said his reflexes were terrible. Then she pointed at a barbell and told him to lift it. He thought 20 kilos on each side, 60 total with the bar. Lifting it wasn't the hard part. Werewolves were usually about three times stronger than a normal man. She told him to pick it up and follow her.
Now he had to run. Seeing the beam over a small gap, he asked on that. He thought, "Was this another insane run over a drop, she said balance mattered. He had to find his center and his physical ability would handle the rest." He asked if she really thought that would work. She said he'd keep doing it until it did. He figured he'd need to move sideways. The beam was long and only half as wide as his foot. He asked what happened if he fell.
She said it was only 3 m, so it wouldn't be serious. Still, he should never leave himself open. Werewolves put a lot of value on keeping their bodies unharmed. if he got injured in a fight, he'd be at a disadvantage because their bodies don't heal like immortals. He sighed and accepted it. There was no way around training. While she watched shows behind him and told him to be careful, he remembered he was also immortal, so broken bones would heal fast.
That meant he could keep going even if he fell. Then he started moving, his senses fully sharpened. By feeling the pressure of his sneakers on the beam, he could find his balance. Werewolves already had good coordination, though not like an immortal controlling every sensation. Still, he thought he could do this. It might even be fun. At least he wasn't running on blades. Then he said he'd cleared the task and she told him to do it two more times.
Watching him, she thought the board was only 4 cm wide and 50 cm long, yet he made it on the first try. Then she said she was raising the difficulty. After that, she stretched a steel cable over the gap. He stared at it in horror and asked if he was supposed to run on that. She said yes and called the exercise single line. Compared to this, a wooden board was kid stuff. She had doubted he could do it based on his stats, but his natural talent was pretty solid.
He asked if she'd at least put mats below. She said the mats were still hard, so he needed to be careful. If he grabbed the wire while falling, it would slice his hands. He asked if he had to do it with the barbell again. The teacher said to try it without the weight first. He thought, "Try." So later, he'd have to do it with the barbell anyway. He wasn't scared. Compared to immortal training, this felt easy, but the actual difficulty was insane.
It kept getting worse. The wire was tight and barely shook. And at least there were no sharp rocks below or wild winds to throw him off. With mats under him, too, maybe it wasn't so bad. He decided to go for it. Then he started losing balance and thought maybe he should have gone slower. Small soft steps with a light bounce. The teacher watched him more closely than she watched her shows. She made him keep running that way with the barbell for the rest of the day.
Next day, Ju said they'd meet again next week. He bowed and said, "Yeah, then got into his mother's car. She asked if he was curious why she'd sent him there, and he said, "Of course." She told him she couldn't stand watching her son get beaten around. He needed to learn to use his body better. Right now, he was too weak. He thought weak. If his classmates heard that, they'd laugh to death. Still, the only answer was more training.
It would help when he entered the special forces, just like the skills that village teacher taught him. Later, he thanked his mother for the meal. She stared at the stack of empty plates and asked if he hadn't been eating. He said the last four days taught him how good her food really was. Then, he asked if she could teach him to cook. since these days guys who can handle a kitchen are popular. He wanted to learn for his future wife.
She agreed it was a good idea, then added that maybe he should start by becoming handsome first. With that body, he looked more like a pig. He said she was as sharp as ever, and she said she meant it. He should stop dreaming about some perfect werewolf body while eating all day and start watching his shape. He answered that first he still wanted to learn how to cook. He remembered mentioning a dish from a show during training and the teacher's eyes had lit up.
His mother finally agreed and he thought that solved the cooking issue. As for next week's training, would it be the same or something new? Whatever came, he could handle it. The teacher wiped off the knife and said it would be a little tougher than last time. Okay. 4 days later, he met the village teacher again and he said the last training had only been prep for the real thing because it wouldn't be enough to pass the exam.
So, blade running, strangling drills, and cliff jumps all became required. Every session ended with that same cliff jump. After another leap, he noticed the pain was lighter and faded faster. Now maybe the werewolf training was helping. The teacher shouted that if he was done, he should climb back up. The problem was this is only the basics. The teacher said an immortal special power is regeneration. Even if someone shoots him, the bullet won't pass through his body.
It'll bounce off, but blades are a whole different story. A cut off limb takes a long time to grow back. The protagonist said he'd be more careful, but the teacher warned him that small, focused attacks are the most dangerous, so those are what he has to avoid. Then he swung the knife, and the protagonist thought he looked like a straightup killer. He asked why he pulled out a knife. The teacher snapped that it was a dumb question.
This was the next step of blade training. Now he had to dodge a real sword. The teacher kept slashing at him over and over, and the protagonist twisted every way he could to avoid it. The mentor explained that the point wasn't to escape untouched. It was to avoid deadly wounds and settle for minor ones. Finishing without a scratch was pointless since he'd clearly been training elsewhere. The teacher told him to slow down.
The protagonist could only think, "How am I supposed to dodge this?" Then a blade stabbed into his chest, and the teacher yelled that if someone aims for his thighs or calves, he has to take the hit on his shin instead. Of course, dodging is still better. The MC thought, "What the hell?" No matter how he moved, he still ended up getting hit, even in the butt. In the end, he just kept running through those blades. The teacher noticed he was healing fast and said they'd keep going.
After a while, he explained that anemia is one of an immortal's biggest weaknesses. The MC asked, "What now? Am I supposed to carry blood bags around?" The answer was simple. First, stop the bleeding. Then, the mentor suggested a break for lunch. The protagonist asked if he could cook today. When he asked if ramen was fine, the mentor shut that down. A little later, Guangik served up spaghetti with meat sauce. His mother had told him that if he wanted to make something edible, sauce would save it.
After tasting it, the teacher said it was good. The protagonist joked that he was glad his taste buds still worked. Since immortals have stronger senses, especially taste, he'd really hoped the teacher would like it. The teacher replied that cooking counted as training, too. Training to dull those taste buds. Not long after, they started again, and he said they were adding something new. His body had already gotten used to blades hitting muscle.
So, the next moment, the knife went straight into the students body, and he said it was time to toughen up his insides, too. He had to learn to stop internal bleeding. Organ regeneration takes much longer, which is why this kind of training matters. The MC was stunned. He couldn't even dodge, and he definitely didn't see that coming. He asked how he was supposed to deal with that. The answer, learn to cover his tracks.
If the enemy had sharp senses, then he needed to hide his energy. Still healing, the MC asked if that was the reason he got stabbed. The mentor asked if he wanted to learn how to hide his presence. The protagonist said yes. 2 days later, Kuangik arrived at the gym and called out that teacher. he was here. He asked what they were doing today and Jiwayi said they'd be playing survival. Then she fired a shot and said this was a special gun with modified bullets and gas, so he'd better dodge.
Right after that, she started firing and the protagonist tried to evade each shot. She yelled that the gun was dangerous. One hit and he'd be done. He had to avoid her shots and find cover first. If there was none, he had to move too fast for her to aim. Running in one direction was a bad idea. He had to keep shifting side to side and stay unpredictable. Even while backing off, he had to push every muscle to change direction fast.
He needed to use his flexibility to slip past the bullets, though a few still grazed his arms. The teacher shouted at him not to let them hit. Even one bullet could take him out, and if he couldn't fully dodge, he should offer less important body parts instead. The MC thought that even if he had to slow down, just like in immortal training, some lessons only clicked after two sessions. The fighting styles of immortals and werewolves are built around what their bodies can do.
Neither teacher was really teaching him to fight. They were teaching him to stay alive. Immortals have to watch out for blades and never let cuts get too deep. Guns are less dangerous, but shotguns are a bigger threat. Werewolves, on the other hand, deal with blades more easily because their bodies let them react and counter fast. Shotgun blasts are easy for them to dodge unless you get close. Then it's over since they can't regenerate.
Werewolf techniques are all about never getting hit. After a while, Zui said they were done for the day. Looking around, the protagonist wondered how they were supposed to clean all this up. Then she told him to get up and start running again. As he lifted dumbbells, he thought plain physical training was way better than the kind where he had to get hurt. All of a sudden, he felt a terrifying aura behind him and it made him fall off the copper cable.
She looked at him and asked if he felt that. He asked what she meant and she said it was the deadly energy of the wild. He begged her not to do that again. His heart nearly jumped out of his chest. She said he'd get used to it over time or he should keep something similar near him so it would be easier to handle. Then she said they'd continue. And that was the start of his brutal werewolf training. Funny enough, after 2 days, he stopped falling off the beam.
He also started to understand, even if not perfectly, how to deal with that deadly energy. She never stopped giving off that pressure. And thanks to the immortal's sharp senses, he learned to read it somewhere between the fifth and sixth sense. He tightened his lower abdomen and endured. It was the only way he could handle it. This was how the immortal and werewolf training started taking turns. His sessions with the village teacher were still pure hell.
They included healing internal organs and getting used to arrows, axes, and spears. He even had to step into traps on purpose, and those were especially dangerous. The teacher warned that if he stepped into one, the pain would be awful, and if he didn't get free fast, he'd stop thinking straight. The main character asked if that meant long-asting pain was dangerous. The answer was yes. Immortals often just tank damage in battle, so he had to get used to pain because it ruins clear thinking.
That's why he even had to take poison. Werewolf training wasn't much different. He had to put lead weights on his wrists and ankles, adding more over time, though most days he mainly dodged bullets and ran on the beam. On top of that, he trained with dumbbells to build muscle. Still, some things changed. His father left on a 10-day business trip. Then, Si asked what if she missed him, and her husband kissed her, saying they'd video call every day.
The protagonist thought he was acting like he'd be gone for years. The teacher handling his immortal side also changed things up. Instead of just stabbing holes in him, he started teaching hand-to-hand combat and blade use. He said, "Using a gun is easy. That part's simple." And if you ask the protagonist whether training was hard, he'd say, "No." Thanks to his werewolf body and natural physical talent, he picked things up right away.
The Shewolf taught him how to use firearms, too. Hand-to- hand fighting, she said. He could learn on his own. Just watch a video and copy it. Guns were different. You need the right feel for them. Or so she said. But as a half breed with the immortals five strange senses, he got the hang of guns easily, too. Just like that, two months passed. Later, his parents were watching TV when his father asked if he'd been training.
The MC said, "Yeah, but after a week without that deadly training, his body almost felt itchy. Had he really gotten used to pain? His father said he was a tough guy, just like his son." His mother said that was good. Yung-ho said he actually took after her more. She answered that he was still their boy, smart like him. The MC thought they were being loveydovey again, so why didn't he have a little brother yet? Then he went to the bathroom, looked in the mirror, and wondered why he didn't have a partner either.
At that time, Soulhai got a phone call. She said she was meeting He-Man's mother nearby. Her husband asked why at this hour, and she said the woman had a child in senior year, so she was probably worried about a lot. He agreed that time of life is a real headache. Then his phone rang. Guangik shouted that he couldn't find a hairdryer. Then he came out of the shower, looked around the room, and asked where they'd gone.
Then he checked his phone and saw a message from his father saying the exam was tomorrow. He had already passed Sununyong, but it still felt strange. Some guys had asked why he didn't go, but honestly, he didn't care that he got good grades. He never planned to go to college. His path had been set 9 years ago, the day the huge black hole called Hughes Gate opened. Back then, he'd been trapped under a collapsed building.
And after seeing that person's back while they fought off countless invaders, he decided he wanted to become someone like that. He figured his mother would be upset if she knew. On the day of his awakening, she told him she wanted him to live a normal life. He wondered where she'd gone. At that moment, she met Jui. The teacher asked what excuse she used this time. She said she lied and claimed a neighbor's child had an exam.
Then they sat at a table and the teacher asked if she really wasn't curious. Su Hai asked about what and she said her son. She never even asked how he was. She replied that the only thing that mattered was that he was at least half human. Though sometimes for a half breed born from a human being half human and half werewolf is already a lot to deal with. That's what scares her. So she avoids asking and tries not to think about it.
Right then, Yan Ho got a call from the teacher and asked if he was serious. His father snapped, asking if he should rip his limbs off and dump them in the Pacific. The teacher answered, "He really had no idea. It sounded like the call was never meant to let them know in the first place. He's an irregular." Then Ju said he doesn't need to stand out. It's enough if he can protect himself from some crazy scientist group.
It was hard to believe a group like that had ever existed, but it did. Its members tried crossing normal species to make an irregular. So, he said yes, and they failed badly. All they got were weird monsters with both parents' strength. From those tests, they reached one conclusion. If a normal person and an immortal werewolf had a child, the special blood would weaken and eventually disappear. The teacher said she was lucky.
Her son was a real diamond. Then Yanho asked if that made him weaker than a quarter blood. He thought his blood showed strongly enough that he'd at least count as half. The teacher said it was the opposite. He'd never seen a genius like her son before. He even taught him how to hide his presence. Meanwhile, Jui added that his skills were impressive. He's smart and already learned to control the wild deadly energy. After hearing all that, his parents said if this was some kind of joke, they wouldn't laugh.
The teacher insisted their son was gifted. Jui called him a genius, and his parents said that sounded about right for their son. The next morning, the protagonist said good morning to his mother and asked where his father was. She said he'd already left for work. After washing up, he sat at the table and looked at all the food, wondering what the big meal was for. She reminded him that today was important. Right. Today was the civil service exam, but Kangik's training wasn't about studying.
It was about staying alive. In truth, this was a special hiring test where the new blood would go wild. After eating, he thanked his mother for the meal. In the hallway, he started putting on his shoes. His mother asked if he was ready, and he said yes. He knew everything so well he could dream it. He remembered getting his ankles smashed and his organs jabbed. Then she warned that if he failed, his dad would be disappointed.
He looked at her thinking she had it all mixed up. She didn't want him becoming a civil servant, but she also didn't want the exam to be wasted. She was trying to support him while still worrying. Worrying like a werewolf. He told her not to, reminding himself that he was immortal, too. Then she added that if he failed, he'd be seeing her in the ring. That brought back a memory he wanted gone. She told him to just pass if he wanted to avoid that.
He said he definitely would. Then he called the elevator and listened to music through his headphones. For him, music was the best way to calm his nerves. With an immortal's excitement, he started humming until the doors opened, and Kang Hi Min stared at him in surprise. She told him not to sing when he proposes to her. Being handsome doesn't make him a singer. He asked why she even cared. She stepped into the elevator and asked if he was finally going to confess.
He said no, and when she asked why, he reminded her he'd already told her a hundred times what his ideal type was. She jabbed him in the stomach and said, "Girls with looks, a good body, and brains aren't easy to find." When they reached the first floor, he got out and told her not to say stuff like that. She had no idea what kind of neighborhood they lived in. Apparently, she wanted to gift him a pair of iron bracelets.
He also disagreed about the brains part. She forgot to mention greed. Outside, she ran after him and told him to wait, but he said not to follow him. At the bus stop, Himin asked where he was going. He said to take the civil service exam. She asked something back, but he brushed it off, saying those guys really know advertising. He told her he was busy and she should go to school. She reminded him she was a senior and would start college next year.
He congratulated her and told her not to waste her life drinking once she got an ID. She shot back that he was only a year older. He asked if she could really feel that age gap. Heyman said he didn't get it. Right now she's at a girl school, but in a normal university, a wild pack of wolves could go after a beauty like her. He told her to worry about studying instead. As he got on the bus, she suggested they should date and he could tutor her, too.
A smart guy is attractive after all. He asked who was supposed to be whose boyfriend. Then he warned her not to scare off his future wife. She answered by sticking out her tongue and flipping him off. He thought their high kick lady hadn't changed at all. Soon the bus reached the stop. As he entered the building, he checked the time. 7:50, way too early. The exam didn't start until 9:00. So where was he even supposed to go?
He greeted the receptionists and one stood up to ask what he needed. He said he was there for the special employment exam. A man walked over and asked if he was taking the test. He said yes. Then the man asked to see his application. The protagonist wondered why the guy was looking at him like that. After he introduced himself, the worker checked the list and told him to take the elevator to the ninth floor. When he got there, Guangik wondered if this was really the place.
Pakdam asked if he was here for the exam. He said yes, and she asked for his application. After checking it, she said everything matched. Then she told him to keep walking until he reached the door at the end of the hall. That was where he needed to go. He thanked her and thought this was way too much trouble. Maybe that's just how immortal exams work. Then he stopped at a door marked special employment exam venue. He wondered if the room was soundproof.
He'd expected chaos and blood everywhere. Holding the exam right in the center of the building made him think, "So this is the world government's power." He told himself to focus. He wouldn't even be shocked if knives flew at him the second the door opened. Maybe dodging them was part of getting in. Whatever waited inside, he was sure it would be torture, just like training. Or so he thought. Inside was just a classroom full of single desks, and the worker said he was the first one there.
Looking at him, the protagonist thought about the bald guy. The worker called him over and asked for his application. He thought there had been cures for baldness ever since materials from the white hole were found. Sure, they had side effects, but there were cheaper choices, too, so maybe baldness was just a style now. The worker called out, "Young man," he handed over the papers, wondering why everyone kept treating him like a fool.
The man told him his number was 48, pointed to a desk, and told him to sit there. This was nothing like what he'd imagined. Training never involved rows of desks and chairs. Still, who knew what would happen once the test began? Maybe even that bald guy would pull a knife. Better not let his guard down. He had to stay ready for anything. After a while, the room filled up. The worker stood and asked if anyone hadn't brought a pen.
The protagonist raised his hand and the man looked at him like, "Who is this guy?" Of course, Guangik felt something was off, but there was no one he could complain to. What had started as exam prep had turned into brutal training instead. Since this was his path, he decided to give it everything he had because he truly wanted to pass. They announced the exam would begin in 10 minutes. He'd arrived first and had already spent 50 minutes sitting there in shock.
At this point, he was sure everything about this place was wrong. Then the teacher handed him a pen, and he stared at it, thinking it looked like a normal marker. If he asked them to explain it again, they'd probably think he was an idiot. He also noticed everyone in the room looked unusual. Some of them could have gone straight into idol work, but one guy stood out more than anyone else. His hands were incredible. He looked like he could model for an ad.
When their eyes met, the guy looked away, and the protagonist hoped he hadn't gotten the wrong idea. A few examiners then started setting up screens around each test taker. One of them announced that everyone would now get their exam sheets. He figured the screens were for hyper sensitive immortals. That also explained why the desks were spaced so far apart. Then someone asked if he was late, and the examiner said his number was 50 and told him where to go.
The examiner added that the guy had overslept. The protagonist thought that if there were another test, he wouldn't rush either. He'd expected the immortal exam to be easy, but had to take that back fast. Grabbing his head, he wondered if he could quit. Maybe running from knives would have been better. Then he read the first question and thought, "What? Wasn't someone just whining about how hard this was?" The answer was obviously four.
If he weren't a special race, choices two and three might matter more, but with a wound only the size of a 101 coin, it wasn't that big. If the weapon was thrown, the first thing to do was stop the bleeding, just like his teacher taught him. Otherwise, he'd go into shock. First, stop the bleeding, then find shelter. That was exactly what his teacher taught him. After all those knife drills, he finally got why. If you stop the bleeding fast, a small wound won't threaten an immortal's life.
Then he moved to the second question and wondered what kind of test this was. He remembered his teacher always warning him not to let shock set in. At the core, immortals still work a lot like humans, so the right answer was three. Then came the next question. He can't avoid the knife swing. What should he do? Easy. Throw out his hand. He'd heard way too many times how important it was to protect your moving force. So, he knew this answer, too.
Then, a movie he saw long ago came to mind. It was about a poor guy on a quiz show who answered from things he'd lived through. The poison question, that was his area. This test was really asking what the takers had gone through in immortal bodies and how much they understood. His own knowledge was basically built from surviving hell. Between his teacher's advice and what he'd been through himself, the answers came naturally.
So, this whole time training had been studying. Then he flipped the page and saw one more question that needed a written answer. How do you kill an immortal? The answer felt obvious until he peaked past the screen and realized he was done. How long had it been? The examiner said there was still an hour left. Was he seriously that fast? Then the examiner announced that anyone finished could leave and should keep the answer sheet with the test papers on the desk.
A little later, the protagonist walked out and saw Darham the nuna with the square glasses from the entrance. She asked if he'd read the note on the first page. He said yes. She handed over some papers and told him to leave his agreement. He figured if he messed this up, the old force would hit him with some scary consent form. Then she asked if he was a half breed. He said yes and took that like a good sign. He thanked her, still wondering if he'd really been cleared.
Later, the examiner sorted through the answer sheets and reading the protagonist response saw suffocation, freezing, burning, dismemberment. All of them are dangerous to an immortal, like passing out when the airway is blocked, being frozen with liquid nitrogen, and being burned. Because full body burns can stop an immortal from functioning and dismemberment since regeneration in that case isn't certain. There are endless ways to kill an immortal.
In other words, this question has no single right answer. Most immortals are too confident in their durability. So, you have to think about every deadly weapon and situation. How many ways does he know to hurt an immortal? That's what the last question was really testing. An immortal body can heal, but death is still real. If you understand that, you can lower the chance of dying even without memorizing every method.
I heard he was born from a human and an immortal. He may lack physical talent, but he's smart. I checked his first impression review. Didn't seem like an immortal. Arrived before everyone else. Stared into space for an hour and even came to the exam without a pen. Half a month later, a message came to the MC's phone. After reading it, he told his mother her son had passed. She was thrilled. Then he showed her the screen and said he hadn't just passed, he got first place.
Sullef called her husband right away, said they got first place, and suggested cooking beef to celebrate. The protagonist asked if he was really allowed to. Sometime later, Yonho came into the apartment and announced he was home. The protagonist rushed over, excited to greet him, but stared at the bags in his hands. His father told him to at least act happy to see him. Then they sat down to a feast, and his father said he never doubted him.
The protagonist grinned and said, "Of course, whose son is he?" His mother laughed and answered, "They obviously." He said the questions were way easier than he expected and thought his teacher was amazing. Then his father added that now the results were out, the interview would be next. Sui asked what department he might join, and his father said he wasn't sure. Most likely, he'd start an estate company under the Ministry of Administrative Security.
The protagonist felt like his mother didn't notice anything because his father acted normal, but to him, it sounded like he was dodging the real answer. Why do the government and old force pick immortals? What do immortal public workers even do? He had a lot of questions, but none got answered. So, he asked his father for interview advice and got told he didn't know anything about it. Not long after the excitement of getting first place on the written test, another message came with the interview date.
The interview would be in the same building. As for advice, his father still gave him nothing useful. All he said was to show his individuality and answer clearly. On the way out, the protagonist thought there was nothing to do now but let the strongest win. His mother followed him into the hall and wished him luck. He turned, thanked her, and headed for the elevator. Looking at his reflection, he figured this outfit was so good he could walk straight into show business.
Right then, Haymon came over and asked if he was standing there admiring himself. He joked that they were running into each other way too much lately. Was she following him? She said she was only passing by. He told her that even on a weekend, she'd be better off studying than wandering around. She shot back that if he became her tutor, he could level up his license. He kept walking and said he was busy. Then she called after him that the suit looked good on him.
He turned and said he already knew that. After a while, he reached the right building and stopped by the waiting room for applicants. Looking around, he thought everyone seemed to be trying too hard. Maybe he should have read more interview stories. Then he noticed the same princel lookinging guy who had sat next to him during the test. Their eyes met again, and the guy shut his eyes right away. The main character was left thinking, "What was that about?" This time, he decided to sit farther away from him.
After a while, Quanic was called into the office. Inside, he noticed a man with ghost white skin and flame colored hair. He even thought the guy's code name had to be Candle. And beside him was Darham, who said they'd met before, right? He realized she was the Nuna with the square glasses from round one, so now she was one of the interviewers. She asked why he wanted to apply to their company. He knew saying his father made him do it would get him tossed out, so he had to come up with something.
He said he wanted to test his limits through such a hard exam and also chase a dream. The man asked, "A dream?" He answered that he wanted to fight for their people and the country. Then came another question. What would he sacrifice for a comrade in battle? He said it would depend on the situation. The man pushed back, asking if that meant he wouldn't sacrifice anything. The MC replied that he'd look for the best way through a bad situation, though he knew that might sound a little bold.
After that came a string of supposed easy questions. Darham asked if his mother was in the water with a girl, who would he save first? He said he'd save both. He was a strong swimmer. Then the man asked what he'd do with one bullet left and two targets. The protagonist said he'd shoot one and stop the other by throwing the gun at him. Come to think of it, maybe his answers weren't that normal after all. Anyway, the interview ended.
A few days later, he was lying in bed watching a video. His mother came in and said he'd been slacking a lot since the interview. Didn't he have plans today? He said he did. She asked if he remembered what would happen if he failed, right? Then she asked who he was going with. He said by himself. He wanted to spend the day resting. So why was she warning him to be careful there? Werewolf instincts were dangerous. If they took over, things could get ugly.
The protagonist asked, "What kind of ugly?" She said, "Usually a beating." He asked, "What else?" Then she said, "Rape." Did he know why people tell stories about werewolves crying at the full moon? One werewolf lost control of his instincts and started howling under the moon. It happened on a full moon night, so if he can't control his urges, he should go outside and scream. It helps. The main character argued that from the news, the real problem people are magicians and superhumans.
Besides, he'd never heard anyone howling at night. She said there was another way to control desire. He asked what, and she answered, "Self-control." He remembered that after he awakened his powers, his mother often took him to the mountains. Maybe that had been training. Then she added that the second method was stress relief. Burn off the extra energy with exercise. The real issue was still release, though. That's why she kept telling him to get a girlfriend.
At this rate, he'd grow moss. Or maybe that wasn't it. Maybe he was just born likely to mess up. Maybe he liked boys. The MC snapped that he didn't. She grabbed her head and complained. A whole month living together during orientation. What kind of company was this? They'd probably accepted him, so maybe he should stop worrying about the assignment for now and do what he really wanted. Like his father said, he remembered being congratulated for passing the final exam.
While handing him the papers, they told him to read everything carefully. If he had any questions, he should ask a 5-week internship orientation. What could they possibly teach for more than a month? And during the internship, they even have to live together. The pay is 65 million a year for an intern, plus training costs, bonuses, fun expenses, daily support, and even a job with a nearby apartment after it ends. He wanted to be a soldier, but this company was insane.
It felt like it was breaking Korea's whole job market. Dirham asked if he had any other questions, so he asked whether he could show the papers to his parents. She asked if his father was an immortal. He said yes. Then she calmly told him that if he wanted to see his mother behind bars for the rest of her life, sure, he could tell her everything. That would be a memory, too. He was amazed she could say something that awful so sweetly.
That alone told him he definitely couldn't tell his mother. Still, the offer and the attitude were tempting enough to melt anyone's heart. He said their son wanted to try becoming the head of a corporation tied to the Ministry of Administrative Security, and his father asked if that was so. He said young people with bright futures, the ones who would lead the country, should aim that high. Meanwhile, he was really just thinking about working for a company that valued his talent, not the money or the apartment.
His mother stood up and said he spoke well. He grinned and asked if that wasn't all thanks to his wise father and amazing mother. He added that his mixed blood helped too. She said she was glad he was her son and judging by how his lines didn't annoy her, that was saying a lot for a werewolf child. He figured everything was fine. The two bloodlines had mixed well inside him. Werewolves have hard to control instincts, and immortals have sharp senses.
A werewolf's instincts can get extreme, and some immortals are way too sensitive. He's neither of those. The internet helps him handle his instincts, and he's still young. As for immortal sensitivity, he can sleep anywhere and eat anything, so he wasn't worried. No matter where he went or what he did, he trusted himself completely. A while later, he got on the bus and looked out the window at people trying to escape the heat.
Summer, at least this huge company bus had air conditioning and kept them out of the blazing sun. Only immortals were on board, even though plenty of seats were empty. It was time to head to trainee orientation, and one look around told him who was pure blood and who was mixed. Pure blood stood out right away. They had a different feel to them, something he could sense with his sharp instincts. Looking at Janum, he thought that Prince was a pure blood, too.
And somehow he was sitting next to him again. People started talking on the bus, and he realized some of them were already getting friendly. He remembered his father telling him to make more friends and not judge people by how they dressed. Sometimes someone who seems bad at first is actually decent, and the opposite happens, too. Then his father messed up his hair and said he'd grown up. He answered that he was already taller than him.
His father said that wasn't the point. Then asked how he'd been sleeping. He said he was fine and his father was glad. At that age, he'd had terrible insomnia. Everything else was okay, but the noise from the house next door kept him awake. Quang asked how he dealt with that since no one can go without sleep forever. Werewolves use self-control to manage their instincts. So, how did an immortal handle extreme sensitivity?
His father said he tried earplugs, a sleep mask, and even only using a microfiber blanket. None of it worked. So, he bought a four-story building, made a room in the center, and surrounded it with soundproof walls. He called that a pretty solid solution. Yanho laughed and said that if you keep fighting insomnia while living a normal life, eventually you learn to control your feelings, and it gets easier. Or you could go train in the mountains for 3 years.
Guangai thought it must have been really hard for his father to learn that control, because for him, it came as naturally as breathing. Controlling feelings was like moving his muscles, like perking up his ears or tightening part of his back. Yanho said he figured all the boys would be very sensitive, so he needed a plan. When the protagonist asked what plan, his father cut him off and said enough. Have some shame. Then the protagonist turned to Gam and after greeting him asked if this was their third meeting.
Gam asked if he knew him. He thought they'd already met twice with their own eyes and that alone made him click his tongue. He reminded him they'd met at the test, the interview, and now here. The other guy turned away and said this was the first time he'd seen him. He thought, "Father, forget first impressions." After one talk, it's obvious this prince clearly had memory problems. Shameless jerk, so he dropped the prince and decided to greet the girl behind him instead.
He noticed she was blonde, too, though she didn't seem like a pure blood. He said he was glad to meet her. She asked if he was a half breed, and he said, "Wasn't that obvious from how he looked?" She said he was immortal on his father's side. His senses were dull and he grew up spoiled. He didn't even know where they were going. According to her, he saw the good terms and rushed to sign. He thought, "No, that wasn't it." He had huge dreams about this company.
So they had not just a prince here, but a princess too. Her highness the detective. Then he asked who she was talking about. She said his observation skills were trash too. Immortals are very sensitive and everyone sat away from the window because even the sunlight slipping through the curtain was irritating for them. Just moving his tongue to talk was one long headache. She knew because she was just as sensitive. Only the half breeds could sit there calmly eating chips and chatting.
Then she told him to shut up. He instantly wanted to hit her. He almost forgot his parents' advice and wanted to show this detective what he could do. Then again, she had a point. If he remembered right, his father's nickname in relationships was basically Thorne, and that was after his father had already learned to use his abilities and gotten used to them. So, the people on this bus had it 100 times worse right now.
Still, that didn't excuse them being rude. The ride to orientation had turned into a funeral wagon. Open a bag of chips and you became public enemy number one. Good thing he'd eaten a big breakfast. Then he felt the gas creeping up and almost greeting him like it was introducing itself as a mix of nitrogen, methane, carbon dioxide, hydrogen, and other lovely ingredients. Ready to enter their world, he thought, "Why now?
But if those gases wanted freedom, maybe he should aim them at that girl." The very next second, the bus filled with gas. Miho quickly pinched her nose and snapped. What a bastard. That was revenge with zero control. Complete and immediate. Hours later, after the gas attack, they finally arrived. He grabbed his suitcase and looked around thinking, "What is this place? Had they rented some hotel nearby?" Then two cadets walked over to him.
Get said hi and asked what he'd eaten that morning. Han asked if he was constipated or something. He guessed they were the same half breeds from the back of the bus who had already become friends. He turned to them and said it was just a natural process. They introduced themselves and the protagonist told Hen he was the one who'd really needed to let it out. Then he introduced himself too. Gite said, "Seriously, age doesn't matter here." He asked why.
It was just a company orientation. His new buddy said he really didn't know anything. This was a training center. Then near the entrance, Jung Mo shouted for everyone to line up in five rows and hurry up. He wondered how many people they'd picked. Seeing everyone panting, he also wondered why they were already so exhausted. When he looked at the mentor, he recognized the bald examiner. Looking at the others, he spotted the candle guy and the bob-haired nuna, too.
Jong Mo said that for the next month, they'd be working their asses off for endless progress. First though, he said they'd already disappointed him badly. With stamina this pathetic, what could they even do? Back at their age, he was nothing like this. Then he told them to turn around. Did they see those three trees? The first 15 to reach them would win. A second later, the cadets took off toward the trees. He glanced around.
Yoan was there, too. He wasn't trying to brag, but he could have made it halfway on one leg. After all the ridiculous stuff he'd already been through, he stayed calm as ever. He decided to come in 14th. Everything he'd gone through had made it easy to adjust to this. so-called physical training. He remembered his mother warning him that no one could find out he was a werewolf, too. He asked what would happen if they did.
She said it would bring a lot of trouble. In the eyes of normal people, what does a werewolf look like? A ticking bomb, a near criminal, a walking threat. So, he understood he absolutely could not get exposed. In the present, he finished and thought, perfect, 14th place. His acting was flawless. Jang Mo said this wouldn't work. They should all just go home. How were they supposed to do anything later if they couldn't even handle the basics?
Was he wrong? Then he ordered everyone to get down on the ground. Push-ups. Go. On one, they had to say me. On two, idiot. Guangik thought they'd picked a real lunatic. He remembered how people at big companies talked about orientation like it was fun. Games, flirting, easy stuff. This was nothing like that, and he quickly lost count. Darham walked over and asked if he couldn't keep the rhythm. The MC felt thankful for the support.
One cadet cursed, and Jung Mo made everyone stop. He went up to the guy and asked if kids these days really swore at an instructor on day one. The guy panicked and yelled, "No." The instructor got in his face and told the half breed to shut it. Was he trying to burst Purebred's eardrums or make fun of everyone? Around here, people speak quietly. That was basic stuff. And the protagonist thought immortals were seriously weak.
Then the instructor said that in his day, someone like that would have been kicked out right away, but now things were softer, so he gave him a choice, leave or take punishment. The cadet chose punishment and the instructor approved. A second later, he made a move and then a scream of pain rang out. The protagonist wondered what happened. From the sound of it, it had to be a broken bone. Curious, he twisted around to get a better look, but Djang Mo barked at him to shut up.
The MC thought this guy had broken someone's arm and told another person to be quiet at the same time. What kind of generation talk was that? Then the instructor explained that breaking rules starts with fractures. Swearing was nine points and screaming made it 18. fighting without permission was five more. They could learn the rest during punishment. Then he leaned toward the protagonist and asked if the show was fun, he thought, not even a little.
Heading back to the stairs, the instructor muttered that they were completely out of control. Nothing like this happened in his day. Then he told everyone to get up and made it clear the first 15 weren't getting a pass either. He introduced himself and said he was their instructor now, Yang Mo. Darham pointed to him and explained that he'd handle basic endurance training since it was tied to an immortal's recovery. Right now, they were still chicks, but once they joined the company, they'd need to restore their base.
That's what this orientation was for, building the basics. The main character figured that if some instructors were monsters and some were normal, then Nuna was probably one of the normal ones. She introduced herself as their techniques instructor. Then, the third instructor stepped up and introduced himself. He said he would kill them. Darham quickly said they got the wrong idea. Instructor Kim Han would simply teach them how to control their immortal bodies.
The protagonist didn't buy that at all. His face clearly said he wanted them dead. Jung Mo stepped forward and said anyone who wanted to run back to their mother could leave. He'd be glad if the place emptied out. The MC thought they just had to survive one month. After that, life would be sweet. The key thing was not getting shot in the head, even if immortals could shrug off a lot. Did the bald guy really think anyone would quit?
Then the instructor said the choice was made. Welcome to hell. Later, the cadets were assigned to their room. The instructor said 10 people would share it and once they changed into uniforms, they had to wait. The protagonist thought it was just a dorm, not some horror set. Yoan looked at his roommate and complained that his whole body felt sticky with sweat. He wanted a shower. The protagonist was glad they ended up in the same room.
He just hoped that Prince and Princess weren't there, too. Then he noticed the chubby guy beside him, breathing hard, and asked if it was rough. The guy said he was fine. Guangkick figured not every immortal was built like a stick. There was even one guy built like Mansur. Those two were probably siblings. They looked alike. In his head, he tagged them poodle and white. The last one seemed like a pretty plain girl, so it was seven guys and three girls.
He knew nothing about the other rooms. At least there should have been separate changing rooms. Then he noticed the writing on the wall and understood. Miho turned to him and warned him not to peek into the locker room. He said that hurt. She gave him a suspicious look anyway. He thought it was crazy. They already treated him like some pervert before he'd done anything. One cadet said everyone had to get along and follow a lot of rules.
Gum added that they needed to handle their body issues outside the room. Break the rules and you're dead. Miho raised her hand and said she agreed. The others followed. The protagonist wondered why they were all looking at him. Gam reminded them not to forget brushing their teeth. Cleanliness came first. The others agreed again. Like it or not, they were stuck living together for a whole month. The protagonist thought that since they were all stuck on the same boat, he might as well go along.
So, he raised his hand and agreed too. Then the cadets headed to the dining hall. While they ate, the instructor explained that each dorm had 10 people. This was one room. Rooms 1 through 10 were organized by room number. The protagonist thought the food was maybe a C. The instructor added that after eating, each room needed to pick a leader. Without hesitation, Miho said Genom should lead. He asked why. Poodle answered that it was because of his bloodline.
Gite backed them up. The protagonist raised his hand and said Genom seemed to have a bad personality. Shouldn't a leader be someone open, someone who can bring people together? The always annoyed Bimbo shot back that if he thought he was leader material, he was way off. here. Nothing mattered more than blood purity, so the smart move was to ignore him. The leader was decided. The MC thought their little detective would make a great traffic cop and wanted to toss it into the middle of Gangnam's eighth lane.
Yoan looked at him and asked why he always had to act up. He thought, "Whatever, let them do what they want." He expected training after lunch, but instead they got clothes, cheap boots, and a few other supplies. Time disappeared in the crowd of a hundred cadets. After a shower and a short break, they ate dinner, and night came before he knew it. passing a classroom packed with cadetses. The instructor announced lights out after a short lecture and told everyone to watch the screen.
The instructor on it asked if they all knew the company's name. The main character leaned to his roommate and asked what the company was called. The guy stared at him and asked if he knew anything at all. He answered that he knew he was awesome. Wasn't that enough? The cadet asked if he was insane. He thought people here were seriously nuts. Then the instructor on the screen said the name information and communications quarum.
The training's goal was to pick official company employees. The company was backed by the government. They weren't civil servants, but they still worked for the state. The protagonist realized his father had called the exam a civil service test to keep the truth from his mother. The instructor added that because of that, the standards had become too soft. Back in his day, he said, "Nobody could even dream of joining Vim unless they could dodge knives while running." The protagonist wondered how many times he'd heard back in my day already.
Then Jang Mo wrapped it up by saying that if they didn't want to die, they'd better use both their muscles and their brains. Lecture over. Dar asked if that wasn't enough, then wondered what else there was to say. Everyone already knew the basics. She moved closer to the camera and said Vim had one clear goal, to help them use immortality the right way. She hoped they'd remember that. Afterward, the cadets were told to get ready for lights out.
Lying in bed, the MC closed his eyes and thought that after washing up and finally laying down, he felt pretty comfortable. Sleep should have come easy, but the noises from his roommates kept going. He cursed them in his head as a bunch of whiners. Yan turned and whispered for him not to breathe. He asked if he was supposed to die. Yan told him to be a friend. Go outside and die there. The protagonist remembered his father saying it would take at least 3 years to control hypersensitivity.
But Ge, the oldest one here, was only 23, so everyone's senses had probably peaked by now. Yoan said he wouldn't be sleeping tonight either. The MC asked how he even lived like that. He said he used an extreme method. He asked if that meant cutting his own throat. His roommate said basically yes. Passing out worked too. They were immortals, so there were no lasting problems. Then the MC sat up and asked if he wanted help sleeping.
Yoan turned away and said not everyone knew how to knock out an immortal. If someone used too much force, he might not wake up for 2 days. But before he could finish, the MC snapped his neck and told him, "Sweet dreams. He'd better dream about him." Gite stared in shock and asked if he was some kind of sleep expert. Guke asked if he could get a dream about him, too. His roommate said yes, and then his neck got snapped, too.
Watching this, the others all sat up in bed. The protagonist asked who else wanted help. Every hand shot up, and after a while, the MC thought he'd sent everyone straight to the land of sleep. Only the prince and princess were still awake. Miho said everyone had their own talent, so he should help her, too. He asked why. She shot back, "Why not? They were roommates. He could help her now, and she'd help him later." He thought that was practical enough, but he still wasn't very eager.
Then he smiled and said, "Fine, it was happening now." With one quick chop, he struck her neck. She dropped out cold and he figured that wasn't violence, just a fast, effective way to help her sleep. Then he looked at Janomam and asked if he wanted the same. Janom just turned away without a word. The protagonist thought, "Fine, forget him. Time to sleep." That night, everyone in the third team slept great except one person, the protagonist.
All he could think about was waiting for the next night. Day two was chaos from the start. First class came with the old school instructor. Jong- Mo ordered them to run and mocked them for acting like this was hell. To him, it was only a warm-up, basic stamina work with running and strength training. The second lesson was about immortal weak spots, and one of the big ones was the chin. His partner said he had wrestling experience, and he wondered if this guy was serious.
The guy charged in, yelling that there'd be no hard feelings if he hit him. Then he slammed his body into him, trying to drive him forward. The protagonist immediately recognized it, a tackle. So he answered with a punch to the face. The hit nearly sent the guy down. The third lesson was hand-to-hand combat. Then came the old immortal tradition, running over knives, while the others stared in horror. The protagonist thought these blades were only 4 cm.
His teacher used to make him run on 15 cm ones. To make it look believable, he let a few cut into him and did his best to act weak. A week later, he walked into the room and wondered if the prince would refuse again tonight. He figured he'd ask a couple more times, then sleep. The annoyed way he always turned away was honestly funny, but when he saw the others sitting up on their beds, he knew something was off. He asked what happened.
Did the detective tell everyone to keep quiet again? Yoan explained that last night their leader left the room because he couldn't sleep. He ran into some guys from another room who were awake, too, got into a fight and beat them up. Since then, people had been giving them dirty looks all day. Then the protagonist heard several people coming. Their leader said it was his problem, and he'd handle it himself. The protagonist thought nobody else was going to fix this for him.
A few guys who clearly hadn't slept in days walked into their room. The one in front asked which one of them was Guangik. The protagonist raised his hand and said it was him. He guessed their leader had let his name slip. The guy said he wanted to dream about him, too. The MC's eyes went wide. He quickly said he liked girls, but the guy just shouted that he wanted to be knocked out, too. He'd heard everyone here was sleeping like babies, and his group was about to die from lack of sleep.
They needed help. The protagonist asked how they even heard about him. The guy said rumors were already all over the place. Didn't he know Yan couldn't keep his mouth shut? So, the MC said if they asked properly, he'd do it. It wouldn't take long. That night, the guys from the first team all got the same neck strike. The next morning at breakfast, the first team's leader sat down with him. He said, "Those hands were magic, and last night felt like heaven." The protagonist told him to word that better before people got the wrong idea.
Training kept going. While they ran, Jung Mo complained that they were dying from a warm-up and asked if they plan to improve at all. In his day, things were very different. He looked over at the chubby guy and sneered that immortals these days couldn't even manage their own weight. Was it laziness or some kind of protest? Anyone who couldn't keep up should have pushed harder. The protagonist watched the chubby guy stagger to a tree and throw up from the strain.
He asked if he was okay, but the cadet told him to ignore him and keep running. The protagonist asked what about him sitting by the tree. The chubby guy said he wouldn't finish anyway. The protagonist asked if he'd read signature throw. The hero in it said, "A real man never gives up on a friend." The cadet still said he was staying there. So, the protagonist grabbed his jacket and told him if he was going to quit. He never should have started.
He said he'd help him finish today. Then he pulled him along and told him to control his breathing and stop dragging his feet or he'd burn out even faster. If it got too hard, a quick pace was better, but just as they neared the finish, the instructor called time. Both of them lost five points. The chubby guy asked if he was insane, and the protagonist shot back that maybe he should apologize instead of questioning his sanity.
Then he walked on and told him not to worry. he was fine and tomorrow they'd finish. The cadet asked why he helped him and he turned back and asked if helping really needed a reason. Without that sense of duty, he felt like he was nothing. You don't need a reason to help someone who's collapsed or is drowning. He believed the other guy would think the same, so a reason didn't matter. Later in the locker room, Yan asked if he was knocking out the first room again tonight.
He said he probably had to. Yan told him to put their leader to sleep, too. The bags under his eyes were almost down to his chin. The protagonist said he offered every night if he wanted it, but the guy always grimaced and turned away. Then he muttered that the two of them were something else and whispered about why Gite was acting so bitter. He said that at the buffet, Gite had picked up Miho's wallet and saw her name.
Since they'd already lived together for a week without even knowing each other's names, he introduced himself. She snatched it back and walked off, saying she didn't care. Ever since that, he'd been like this. The protagonist went over, put a hand on his shoulder, and told him not to get worked up over something so dumb. He already knew what kind of person she was, but Gu said her name was Miho, and it was a pretty name, too.
The protagonist thought he must have gotten hit too hard in training. Gadi admitted he liked her from the start. The MC told him to stop. She wasn't for him. Gadi asked what he knew about her, and he said he was just warning him. Then they headed back to the room and found a huge crowd of cadets. Someone shouted that Guangik was here. Another asked, "That tall guy, the one from the bus? He said he heard the protagonist's lullabi made you wake up fresh with no side effects." Then they all crowded around him and begged for help.
Yoan shouted, "What?" He'd only bragged about him a little. The MC wondered when he was supposed to find time to knock all these people out. A proper knockout meant adjusting the force to each person's condition. He figured it would take over an hour. Thanks to Yan's loose mouth, the night turned busy. He kept putting people to sleep one after another. One cadet asked if the dream had to be about him. He sighed and rolled his eyes, told her to dream about Kung Dong in one bin instead, then knocked her out, too.
And after that, day after day, he kept blessing the sleepless. Later, he came back to the room and said he was finally done. Even so, he didn't skip the last step of his routine. Looking at the leader, he asked if it was the usual answer tonight. The guy turned away again and told him to leave. Same reaction as always, he thought. That was exactly why he couldn't hate him. As time passed, he got better at his sleep trick.
And soon, there was a long line in the hall waiting for him. Half-dead cadets were being dragged back to their rooms. The instructors barely reacted, so more and more people ended up in Dreamland by his hand, and he became weirdly famous. People started calling him all kinds of names. In the end, they even twisted his nickname into Nakwanek, like they just stripped off the family name his parents gave him. After a while, the leader of the first team even offered him a bar.
And just like that, their training period came to an end. During a lecture, Jung Mo explained that aliens were monsters that came out of black holes. It had been 20 years since portals to another world first appeared. And in that time, countless different aliens had invaded through them. Their numbering system was used to track those creatures. It started at one, and the higher the number, the later that monster showed up.
He told them to study the pictures and methods for fighting aliens on their tablets. The monsters they saw most often were listed there. If you weren't careful, even an immortal could get wrecked. Stay alert and you'd avoid most problems. Still, some aliens were so dangerous that running was the best choice. He meant the ones with names. numbers marked a type, but the named ones had their own identities. He pointed at the screen and gave one example, the Blue Knight.
During a major black hole event, it cut down nearly 500 armed fighters. It had hovering engines on both legs and two steel wings on its back, could fly around 250 km per hour, and fought with two blue energy blades. During all these lessons, the protagonist realized something. Vim, part of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Security, was basically a company that sent people into black holes or dealt with aliens that came out.
Even when things seemed calm, everyone still lived with the fear of monsters attacking. That was why they always needed fighters, and Varm was one place that trained them. The MC was honestly glad not everyone got a huge salary there. At least that meant he had no reason to join the army or navy. The instructor warned them again. If they met a named creature, they should run. Those things were nightmares. The MC understood his own reasons for being here, but still wondered why his father had sent him.
Did his father really want to throw his own son into danger? When the instructor mentioned there'd be a test, the protagonist decided he should ask his father about it sometime. Around the middle of orientation, they got new classes. First came an alien lecture from their old school instructor. Then Nuna and Cara taught them useful stuff for immortal combat. In one lesson, she told them Bloody Jack was right in front of them.
In an emergency, they had to pop the cap and press the bottle into their hand. The tool would find a vein and pump in blood mixed with stimulants, sedatives, and crushed ginger leaves. If they pushed hard, the tip would pierce the skin with air pressure. the drug would kick in right away and boost their abilities. Most people just called it a combat potion, though its real name was BB-8. The protagonist thought, "Stimulants, sedatives, combat potion." Then the instructor warned that using too much leads to addiction.
It works on immortals, too, and if they go overboard, the withdrawal will haunt them for the rest of their lives. MC thought, could she stop saying terrifying stuff with a smile? She explained it was made in Germany and called either Bowen's blessing or Odin's blessing. One of the best mind cocktails. There were muscle cocktails too along with other kinds. MC thought this world was full of drug addicts. Last came weapons training with Kim Han.
Watching the cadets, he said knowing something and actually doing it are two different things. After that, it was back to running, strength work, combat drills, and body hardening. He kept helping the chubby guy, and before long, others joined in. As everyone slowly got used to the routine, he ended up sending fewer and fewer people to the Kingdom of Dreams. Their stamina improved, so the morning run got a lot easier.
Even Puffy could finally finish it by himself. In that way, a month flew by. Jang Mo announced the training was over. Luckily, nobody got kicked out for penalty points, so he wanted to congratulate them all on becoming Warm Company interns. They had done well, and the boys cheered. Then, Kim Han called for quiet and said they would now hear the orientation results. The ranking was based on training progress and their written test scores.
Department placement would depend on that ranking. The top three would also get cash prizes. The protagonist thought nothing in the world was better than money. Then the instructor said they were starting. The protagonist already had a guess for first and second, but third place was a mystery. Then the instructor announced third place. Kin, he thought, "Who the hell is that?" The guy walked up and the instructor congratulated him.
If he applied to the department he wanted, they would look at him first. Kim Min said he wanted the public safety team. The instructor told him to handle that later. MC thought the guy looked pretty plain and had just gotten lucky with third place. Kim Han announced second place. Jong Gi Nam. The protagonist remembered asking his friends what was up with that bloodline. Yo Han had asked if he was really an immortal and the answer was that you could tell just by looking at him.
Guite said that somehow looking at him only made it more confusing. Yoan explained that Gam came from an elite pure blood family. The protagonist asked if that meant he was like a noble. His friends said it wasn't that simple. It depended on the blood he inherited. Pure bloods usually heal faster, sense more sharply, and control their bodies better. But the guy they called the prince was on another level. the purest among pure bloods.
He belonged to one of the top three bloodlines. Even with barely any sleep, he scored high in every training session and stayed fully focused in class. MC thought talent was talent, but to him it looked more like pure willpower. You could tell he was giving everything he had. The guy definitely annoyed him, but he still earned second place. Guite said if Gam wasn't first, then maybe it was him. MC told him he was insane.
His friend shot back and after that they still called themselves his friends. Then first place was announced and MC thought if Gam was second then first had to be Miho. He was right. When she came up he thought yeah of course she's like a detective zero sympathy and her way of talking is just awful. Still her brain worked perfectly. She figured out the orientation system fast and acted to match it. Miho would ditch teammates during group work if it didn't cost her points.
And if anyone tried getting close, she'd tell them to focus on training. No matter how you looked at it, she was terrible. Then everyone applauded. The three winners stood there and for some reason the protagonist thought he'd end up dealing with them again later. After that, the instructor told them to rest until tomorrow, more exactly until 2 p.m. Yan asked what they should do. MC suggested food and their friend asked if they sold alcohol there.
Then number 48 called him over and suggested they talk in the smoking room. Then he slipped him a paper with a phone number and told him to call once he got outside. Guite asked what happened. Yo Han asked what he had done and the protagonist asked why he had done that at all. He figured the guy had tried to recruit him into his department. From the start, one thing had been bothering him. Orientation was supposed to give future immortals basic knowledge and draw out their talents.
But was that really it? Did whoever set up the orientation have another goal? A little later, the leader of the first team came over with a smile and said that thanks to him, he could finally sleep normally. He had adjusted much faster. Yun Su gave him her number and said they should meet sometime. Hey Men also said they definitely had to keep in touch. A few more guys left their numbers, too. Waving back at them, MC thought there were a lot of them.
He could have taken first place, but he didn't need it. He had something more important, so orientation was a success. Yan asked if he'd met strangers on the way to the store, and why he'd taken so long. The protagonist sat on the bed and said it was the price of being popular. Then, a serious-l looking man came in and told everyone to pay attention. MC thought that even though they had all been relaxing, none of the first 10 immortals had noticed him coming, which meant he had hidden his energy.
The man told them to come this way. He'd heard there were a lot of promising talents this time. Then Harm Company director Namyong Jin entered and said he was glad to meet them. The man ordered everyone to stand and salute and the interns obeyed. The protagonist remembered reading about the director. Born in 1973, he had spent about 8 years on the emergency operations team, belonged to the first generation of immortals, lived through the hard years, and was one of the 10 immortals in the Korean branch of the old force.
The director told them to sit. He wasn't there to scold them. Instead, he asked whether training was fun. When they answered yes, he told them not to lie. What was fun about that? The protagonist thought GWIT was going to have a rough office life. Then the director said it was good that at least some of them were honest. In any case, they needed to work hard. Someday that effort would save their lives and they could trust him on that.
Then he called Gam who stood up at once and introduced himself. Mongjin shook his hand and said he had done well. Next, he called Miho. She stood up right away and introduced herself. He said he had high hopes for her and she thanked him. MC wondered why he was really here to greet everyone or just to see Gam and Miho. Maybe being director didn't actually mean much. Then the director called him over. The protagonist jumped up and introduced himself.
The director asked if he was a half breed. He said yes and Mong Jin replied that it wasn't bad. Then he asked if he was 20. After hearing yes, he asked if he had a girlfriend. The protagonist said no. That made the director happy. At that age, he said it was perfect to focus on work. The protagonist thought it was not perfect at all. He actually wanted a girlfriend. As he headed toward the exit, Mongjin winked and said he'd see him at the office.
He had to leave, but he had brought them a gift and they shouldn't overdo it. Yoan asked if he was the director's secret son. Why else had he only talked to him and even winked? The protagonist said that was their first meeting. Then he joked, "Was he really the director's type? Was he even married?" His friend said he'd heard he had a daughter. He asked where they got that from since it wasn't even on the tablet. Then Darham nudged the box toward them with her foot and said they were lucky.
The truly wild ones would be left here tomorrow morning, so they should know when to stop. MC said, "No way. Booze! Nice." He was still annoyed there'd be no alcohol at the party. Just then, Gite went over to Miho to offer her something, but she cut him off and said no. He said it was the last day and maybe they could each have one. She answered that alcohol was bad for the brain and she didn't need it. The protagonist said he still couldn't get over it. and his friend replied, "16 tries, 16 losses, all by knockout." Then the chubby one checked the box and said it wasn't booze.
Liquid type blunt was the favorite mind cocktail of immortals. It numbed the senses and made the body heavy. It could even put an insomniac immortal to sleep. Gite handed a can to the protagonist and said there were exactly 10, one for each of them, probably. Their friend checked the tablet and said a single can cost 3 million one. MC said the director really didn't go cheap. Respect to the director. Then he noticed a bottle had fallen.
Jinim locked eyes with him and said he was an He thought, "What's with him now?" Then he dropped onto the bed. Go Thai said, "Jim usually wakes up at the tiniest sound, but this time he just leaned back and stayed down." The protagonist joked that he dropped like a bum, and his friend asked if he was mocking him. His friend pointed out that he even drags his slippers at night when he goes to the bathroom. MC said it became a habit after dealing with Ginim.
Then Miho came over, thanked him for helping her, and handed him a note. She said it was her way of thanking him and he absolutely couldn't show it to anyone. His friend instantly asked if it was what he thought it was, then reminded him he'd already said he should just give up. He told him to be realistic, but MC shot back that he wasn't quitting and walked off, asking if he'd looked in a mirror lately. Yoan cut in and told both of them to relax.
They were both ugly. His friend said his common sense couldn't take this anymore, then chugged the can. The protagonist read the note. It said, "The director sometimes picks out a few applicants and keeps watching them. If one of them passes his personal test, they can get special treatment. But if they fail to meet his expectations, life at the company gets rough. She warned him to stay careful and keep this secret.
He was surprised she shared something like that with him and wondered how she even knew. From the way she wrote, it seemed like she knew a lot more. She doesn't drink, but she still accepted the potion. Then he went over to his friend and said, "Congratulations." This wasn't what he thought. The guy replied that if that was true, then he should show him the note. The protagonist said he couldn't. His friend thanked him for the concern and he snapped that it wasn't concern.
Ga flopped onto the bed yelling that he hated him and Guangik down downed his blunt in one shot and passed out. At last, the first workday came. As he headed for external security team 3, he wondered if this was really the right place. Looking at Lie Chong Bong, he thought, "Is that the team leader?" He figured he should greet him first. Then he looked toward Lee Dong Hun. Right then, the man answered a call and barked, asking if they were serious.
An intern, he said they should know their own department by now. How many times did he have to say they needed experienced people or at least someone who placed first or second? He kept saying this wasn't acceptable. Then Kim Jong-un walked up and told him to sit down. He took the seat by the next computer and she went to Jun Bong to ask what they were supposed to do. He yelled that he didn't know. Then she turned to the Sunbay, but he said he didn't know either, so she decided she'd handle the training herself.
The protagonist figured there must have been some mixup in the personnel transfer. Then she called him over. He introduced himself and she said she'd explain what he would be doing. Tossing a folder onto the desk. She told him it was a list of important Him people and he had to memorize it by tomorrow. He wasn't allowed to leave his seat except for the bathroom or lunch. One phone was for special services. The other was normal.
If the work phone rang, he had to introduce himself and transfer the call right away. The instructions were written on the phone. If the regular phone rang, he could never talk about immortals, werewolves, or internal company matters. When he said he had no questions, she grabbed her jacket and said she was leaving. Later, he met his friends at a small restaurant, setting down his empty glass. MC asked if they had lost their minds.
They said no, and he asked what kind of joke this was. Yoan said he'd heard something, and another guy teased him as the intern news channel. He said people were saying the director stepped in on the assignment. The protagonist asked if that meant he personally placed him there. The answer was yes, and he added that the director usually listens when applicants ask for certain departments, so this wasn't the first time he'd interfered.
But the real issue was the department itself. External security team 3 from dispatch headquarters handled brutal work. People in external security were the best of the best, and the job was insanely hard. On top of that, team 3 had a terrible reputation. Gigi asked if they bullied interns, and he said they killed them. He added that the manager there was infamous. People even called him the butcher because he crushed every newcomer.
They also had a guy who looked like a panda. Basically, he ran things like a control tower. In the right circles, everybody knew him and other places tried to recruit him every year. MC said, "Really?" So, he wasn't the only one who thought the guy looked like a panda. Then he asked about the third one. Yon Han asked if he meant Yo Han. She was a superhum made with secret drugs. Ordinary humans created those drugs to control special species, giving people forbidden power.
From what he read on the tablet during orientation, secret drugs came from government experiments with magic and alchemy, but there was nothing about how many human tests had been done or how many awful things happened. He figured that Sunbe was one of those cases. His friend said her nickname was knife. They said she'd cut him down before the boss even got the chance. The protagonist muttered, "Avengers." The panda looking guy had told him he was the director's Avenger, but really they were the Avengers, not him.
Just then, Jonah walked up behind him and stopped. His friends stared her way in horror. When the protagonist turned around, she coolly told him he was supposed to memorize names, not dig into people's lives. Then she walked away. The waiter brought over a dish and said it was on the house. Looking at it, the protagonist thought he was done for. Online, people say that when life gets too hard, you should try hypnosis.
Office work was just his hobby. Actually, he was the prince of some oil rich country trying out middle-class life. Whether those three hated him or not, they were all still cute. Later, he got a call at the office. He answered and the caller said he was Park Wang Gicks Sue from the first cheerleading team and asked to be connected to Jonah. He said one moment then told her she had a call from Park the 1,00 100th soon, the assistant from the first support team.
She corrected him right away. Not Park the 1,00 100th soon, but Park the 1,00 100th Sue. And not an assistant, but a department head. He said he understood. Panda called him an idiot. The boss cursed and the protagonist could only think. Oil Prince, stay calm. Every day was the same. Memorize names and transfer calls. Still, while his teammates were gone, lots of employees chatted with him. One guy asked if he was the famous sleeper, and he admitted it.
Thanks to that, he learned about his team from every angle. Lie Jung Bong was the leader, a pure blood without the usual pure blood arrogance. The first word that came to mind was, "Damn." His trademark was being Huim's best at hand-to-hand combat. In both words and action, he was a top fighter and the first to reach S-class with his skill set. He also only seemed to say one thing. Damn. Immortal leader Lee Dong Yin was the assistant, a half breed.
He wasn't great at shooting or close combat. He stuck to what he knew. In any situation, he worked as the control tower. During work, he once said that someday he would blow this whole company apart. Knowing he had no talent for fighting, he chose work that needed brains instead. MC still had no clue where his genius really showed. But he had figured out one thing. The guy was an anime fan. Kim Jong was a regular employee, a drug-enhanced human.
Among the few civilians in Huim, she had amazing ability and had served in special forces. Her hand-to-hand rank was Aclass and shooting was B-class. By human standards, she was one of the absolute best. A real gem you could count on one hand, except for their team leader. Her voice carried no emotion at all. In one word, ice. Leaning back in his chair, the protagonist thought only elites made it in here. So, they really were the real deal, even if all three had awful personalities.
A week later, in the gravity load control room, a man turned and asked if they were team three from security. Jun Bong said, "Yes." The protagonist thought, "Sunglasses? That's the leader, Gay Nam." Then he introduced himself. Dong Hun pointed out that their other people weren't here. The man said they were out on business. Then a worker spoke into the mic and asked if he was warmed up. Then he asked if he was lifting.
The protagonist remembered hearing there would be some regular test and wondered what this was. The worker explained that the machine controlled gravity and was built from technology found beyond the gate. Panda raised a hand and said there was no need to keep explaining since everyone already knew this. The worker argued that they had an intern and he replied, "Fine, just keep it short." MC thought he actually wanted to hear it.
The worker went on saying that inside the room you could feel the pressure directly. The current record was 9G. All he had to do was a few simple exercises. Run in place 10 times, do 10 push-ups, then run three laps with one hand on the wall. Since the manager held the record, they'd skip him. Jonah said she had taken the test last week. Panda said he refused. The worker said that only the intern was left, then looked at the screen and said he was holding up well, so he'd raise it to 4G.
The manager said their genome could take 5G. The worker agreed and switched it to 5G. Genome struggled to endure it with everything he had. Seeing his face, the protagonist had to hold back a laugh. He barely kept it together as Gum fought not to collapse. Jonah glanced at him and said he looked like he was enjoying this too much, so he should shut up and watch. He said he got it. Then the intern passed out. The worker said he was out and the boss just shrugged.
What else could they do? Right then, Dong Hun gave the protagonist a shove from behind and still grinning, said it was his turn. Jung Bong pointed out that this was the guy supposed to join their team. As the protagonist stepped into the room, the worker asked the boss if they were pushing this too far. The boss snapped back, asking how many people he thought came back broken from real missions. Jonah added that an obedient dog was still better than useless trash.
Panda agreed, but said the kid knew nothing and would end up hating them later. The boss said fine. It wasn't like they were fools who brought in weaklings on purpose. Then the worker announced it was time to start. Jung Bong looked at the screen and said they should throw him out fast for everyone's sake. He even wondered if he was getting a kind of hidden sadism. It was a sickness only immortals had, a mental problem where they slowly lost the ability to feel what their body should.
Seeing someone else's pain reminded them of what they could no longer feel. An immortal driven mad by that was as dangerous as a werewolf lost to endless thirst. He was sure that once this was over, they'd stick him in information work or some back office job. Data work was safe, which made it perfect for a half breed who hadn't shown any talent for field since. So, what was the director thinking by throwing him in here?
Then the worker spoke up. Great. He was switching it to 4G. Dwan Han noticed he was still hanging on. Jonas said he hadn't blacked out, so that counted as a pass. Not bad for a rookie. The boss admitted he was a little more capable than before, but the team needed people who could work right away, not dead weight who needed babysitting. Watching the screen, he cursed under his breath. There was no change in his movements.
Then he asked what the speed was now. The worker answered 2G, and he ordered him to raise it. Little by little, it climbed to 8G. Everyone in the third department stared at the protagonist in shock. He still had no plan to quit. When the screen hit 10G, the worker asked if they really wanted to push it even higher. At the same time, the protagonist kept going through the exercises. The boss's words flashed through his mind, and he wondered why they were treating him like this.
What if he was better than Gum? Then he remembered Dong Hun<unk>s attitude and thought, "Panda better hope they never meet outside the office." His fists were already itching. Next came J's words, and he thought, "Ice princess, huh? At least she was a little better than the other two since she actually explained something. Still, she had to be human. They still needed to talk. Maybe grab a drink after work." Besides, he still didn't even know what their team did.
They were like some prince and princess. No, even worse. Then he felt the pressure climbing again and wondered how many G it was now. It felt close to the last stage of werewolf training. An immortal with a weak body wasn't much different from a normal person. So, this kind of force would feel like his insides were being crushed. No wonder Gum passed out. He was sure Yoan and Gate wouldn't last even a few seconds. So, how long were they going to keep this up?
He only wanted to rub it in their faces and prove he was better than their favorite. Then again, whatever. If he was going to impress them, he might as well go all the way. Then the worker asked, "What's 8* 9?" He thought, "Do they really think he doesn't know basic math?" Gum didn't even get this, so he answered, "72." Dong Hun said that was too easy. Since this guy scored high and did well in orientation, they should use double digits.
So, the worker asked 12 * 22. The protagonist answered 264. Jonah asked if he might be in some kind of trance. Panda said there were drug mixes that boosted both body and mind, but unless he was some third generation rich kid, getting them was impossible. The boss said they'd know after the drug test. Jonah asked, "What if it came back negative?" He said he didn't know. A little later, the worker announced the training was over.
The protagonist stretched and thought this gravity training was great. His body already felt lighter. He wished it had gone on longer, but he could already feel his strength and stamina improving. Most likely, that came from the way his immortal and werewolf blood mixed. The worker said he was opening the door and that he could come out. When he stepped out, Jonah handed him a handkerchief and told him he did well. He looked at her surprised.
The boss asked why he was still standing there. Since he was done, he should get back to work. Then he turned to the worker and said they should check the other interns results too since these were the last tests. The protagonist thought, "Where's his signature move? Damn it. Wouldn't it have been enough just to show he was a little better than Gum?" Panda said they had to go. The next second, the worker turned around and called out to Guangik.
He said he was listening. The worker introduced himself as part of the internal management team and said he handled the equipment here. The protagonist asked what he wanted and the worker told him to stop by Sam during solo training. Jung Bong couldn't hold back and shouted for him to play the recording. The protagonist thought the manager was showing a lot of interest in him and their leader had stayed behind to check the other interns results.
He must be feeling pretty proud now. This was exactly what he wanted. How much longer were they going to treat him like he was nobody? Jonah said he suddenly looked way too pleased with himself and needed to take off his crown. This wasn't school or kindergarten. It was work. He said he understood and could handle it. She wished him luck and he thought he'd finally been accepted as a real member of the team. Then Dong Hong asked why he was just standing there frozen.
He needed to work. The protagonist wondered if he would be trusted with something truly important now. The next moment, three thick folders dropped onto his desk. Panda told him to study them. He asked what they were. Panda said the first covered alien numbering, the second potion types, and the third the rules and structure of their equipment. He had to learn all of it. The protagonist asked up to what page and Panda said all of it.
He figured maybe he could manage in 3 months, but the assistant said he had 4 days. He thought Panda had to be out of his mind from lack of bamboo or something. Then he asked if any of this would actually help him. At that moment, the boss walked over and asked if their trainee really thought they were being unfair. He said numbers were the basics. How was he supposed to fight anything if he didn't know its traits? if he didn't want to end up in some monster's stomach and come out as crap, he had to learn.
Dong Hune added that for the second folder, he needed to know his own body to use potions in the right amount. If he wanted to fight without cocktails, that was like going to war without a weapon. Jonah said that without understanding how equipment was built, he wouldn't really be able to use it. Knowing the rules and understanding the weapon were two different things. He just had to do as told. He thought everyone sounded so smart, then said 4 days was still too much.
Panda replied, "It took him two." Jonah said three. the boss said one. The protagonist thought it was amazing they were sitting here instead of some mental ward. Dong Hun sat down and said the test would be in 4 days. Jung Bong added that it wouldn't be easy. For every wrong answer, he'd spend an hour in the training room. If he was too weak, then he deserved to fail. The protagonist picked up the folders and said he'd learn it.
At that moment, the gravity room worker remembered his talk with Jun Bong. Lee had said first place. The boss asked, "Which one?" He said he'd asked it 12 times already. Was he happy with the answer? The worker said, "Not at all. He just couldn't understand how someone could be that strong. He said the case was strange and the most likely answer was natural talent. He thought it was rare for immortals to be born with that kind of physical ability.
Even training had limits. Then he said that if they were still thinking of kicking the guy out, they should send him to their team. The boss turned away and said, "No chance." The worker thought Chief Jung Bong really planned to train this intern. Their butcher had clearly gone crazy. Why was it called a probation period? Because during that time, a person learns what they need for office work and checks if the job suits them.
That's how the internet explained an intern, a person still learning the job, right? That was supposed to be him. Instead, Harm buried him in a flood of information. Jonah asked what
