I want to have an honest conversation about what it actually means to take trading seriously because I can guarantee every single person that is watching this video right now, you want to make money with trading. You have a strong desire to become a consistently profitable trader. That's why you clicked on this video in the first place. That's why you're on YouTube watching trading education. You want to make money with this.
However, a very small percentage of the people that actually finish this video will go on and become consistently profitable traders. And that's because a very small percentage of people are actually willing to take this seriously and put themselves in a position to succeed. And one of the most common statistics that I see traders site is that, "Oh, 95% of traders don't find success." And that's exactly why I shouldn't pursue this seriously because most people don't find success with it.
And that is such a horrible perspective to have because you could essentially apply that same perspective towards any other career or profession in your life. Only really the top few percent of programmers out of school go on and work for quant firms and make half a million dollars right out of school. There are a lot of programmers that graduated from excellent institutions that are struggling to find work, especially now with the advent of AI.
Only really the top few percentage of doctors make millions of dollars per year. There's a lot of doctors that go to school, then to medical school. They spend 10 years of their life learning, you know, medicine and they have three, four, five hundred thousand dollars worth of debt and they graduate and they're only making 150 to 200,000, which is great, but when you consider you have you have to invest years of your life and hundreds of thousands of dollars, it's not as appealing.
Only really the top few percentage of lawyers end up starting their own practices and are wildly successful. You could apply that same statistic to every other field and profession out there because that's just the way life is. Only really the top few percentage of people in every possible career path or profession will find the ultimate success. So, instead of thinking about that, oh, 95% of traders fail, so, you know, I'm not going to take it seriously.
Instead, you should be asking yourself, what do I have to do to put myself into that top 5%? What are the habits that I need to implement? What do I need to do step-by-step to make sure I am that elite-level trader that is going to make money consistently. And I'll be completely straight up with you guys, trading is extremely difficult. This is not a get-rich-quick scheme. This is not free money falling from the sky because you learned how to read a price chart and click on a few keys on your keyboard.
That's what a lot of other YouTubers and people on Instagram make trading seem like, but trading will be one of the most psychologically taxing endeavors you will ever pursue in your life. This is going to be a process, and this is going to take time, and trading is an incredibly rewarding career path, but it's difficult. And the only way that you could find real success with this is if you go all in, and if you take this extremely seriously.
And I'm going to break down what that actually means and the steps that you could follow so you can take your own trading as seriously as possible. But first, I want to explain that most people are sort of in the middle, where they're not all in on their trading, but they're not completely out of it. They're putting in some effort, but it's not enough effort to actually, you know, get them over the finish line, and have them become consistently profitable traders.
Where people are showing up every day to trade, but they're not following their trading plan, or maybe they don't have a trading plan in the first place. They don't have rules. They're not following risk management. They're not journaling. They're not reviewing their trades. They're not backtesting, right? And if you're not willing to do those things, you're not going to find success with trading. People want to see real profit from their trading, but they treat it like a hobby.
And my father was my trading mentor. He's the one who taught me how to trade, but he's been a mentor in all parts of my life. And when I was a kid, my dad always stressed to me that if I'm going to do something, I have to become the best at it. And I've always had this all-in mentality with everything that I do. If I'm going to pursue something, I'm all-in. I'm going to become the best, and I have no other choice but to become successful.
And that's the way that I approached trading when I first started. I didn't have one foot out the door. I knew this was going to be my career. I'm all-in, and I'm willing to do whatever it takes to actually make that a reality. And I'd recommend that you have that same all-in mentality. If you're going to pursue trading, then you have to be all-in. You can't half-ass it. You can't have one foot out the door, right? It's either you do this and you take it seriously, or you don't.
And think about your current career. You know, what's currently making you money right now? Your current profession, whether you're a doctor, whether you're an engineer, or an entrepreneur, maybe you own a couple of businesses, or you're a programmer, or whatever the case is. Think about the amount of effort that you dedicated towards your current career path. It probably took you years to become really good at what's currently making you money.
So, why do you think that you can go into trading, do it for a couple of months, and boom, you're going to find instant success, right? There's people that dedicate I mean, I dedicated 4 years of my life, tens of thousands of dollars to get a college degree that nowadays doesn't even guarantee you a job. People are willing to dedicate 4 years of their life and go into debt, but they won't dedicate, you know, a couple of months, or let's say 3 to 6 months towards actually becoming a consistently profitable trader.
It doesn't make sense, and I think that's why a lot of traders don't find success. It's because they treat it like a hobby. They don't treat it like it's an actual profession. This is a long-term skill set that is difficult, but it's extremely rewarding. But, let's say you are all in. You want to take this seriously. You want this to actually be your long-term profession. What should you do? Well, right off the bat, obviously, you have to set yourself up for success.
You have to focus on the education. You have to build a foundation behind your trading in the first place. And if you need help with that, I have a free 10-plus-hour course that is genuinely better than most paid courses on the internet. It's going to teach you my systems. It's going to teach you my strategies, and it's going to help build that foundation for your trading success. It's 100% free. You can get free access to it directly below this video in the description.
Get started on it. It's going to build that foundation, and that's really the first step towards becoming a profitable trader. You have to focus on the education. Now, the next few steps that I'm going to talk about are extremely important, obviously. But, what's even more important is how consistent you are with these steps. And the best way that I can describe this is imagine you want to get a six-pack. You want six-pack abs.
And I would argue that the process of achieving a six-pack is actually relatively simple. What do you have to do? You have to be on a caloric deficit. You have to be burning calories. You have to do cardio. You have to eat healthy. And you have to go to the gym probably three to four days a week and you have to work out your abs. And if you do that for three to six months, you will be well on your way towards achieving a six-pack.
The process is pretty simple. It isn't complicated. But what makes achieving a six-pack so difficult is that you have to remain disciplined throughout those three to six months. You have to hold yourself accountable. You have to be patient. And that's why most people don't have a six-pack. It's because they're not disciplined enough to actually achieve it. And the same thing applies for trading. The steps towards becoming profitable are actually pretty simple.
The process isn't that complicated. But most people aren't willing to be disciplined. They're not willing to be patient throughout the entire process. And the next step is to have a structured routine every single day. And maybe just to give you some inspiration, I'll give you guys my routine every single morning. So, I wake up at around 6:45 7:00 a.m. Eastern. That's like 2 and 1/2 hours before the stock market opens.
I make myself a coffee. I kind of go and look out my balcony. Kind of get some fresh air. Sometimes I'll take a walk in the morning and then I'll go into my office and I'll begin creating my pre-market watch list and I'll begin kind of creating a game plan for the market open. So, I create my watch list, create a game plan, I mark out my support and resistance areas. And from there, I share, you know, my game plan with my students.
And then around 9:00 a.m. I will hop on the mic, go over the game plan. 9:30, that's when I begin actually live trading. And that's my routine. I wake up every single morning at the same time, I make my coffee at the same time, I begin my prep at the same time basically every day. And I will say around 8:30 to 9:00 a.m. I'll kind of finalize my watch list and really determine what I want to focus on. And then I'll be watching those watches until 9:30.
And then the market opens and I'll begin trading and I'll begin to execute on my game plan. Sometimes I don't trade in the first 15 to 30 minutes of the day, especially if the market open is really volatile. Sometimes I see an amazing opportunity in the first 5 minutes and I'll take that trade. Whatever comes to me essentially. I trade until 12:00, 12:15. I take a lunch break and then I come back on around 2:00, 2:15 and I'll see if there's any other opportunities and I'll oftentimes trade until like 3:00 or 4:00 p.m.
Eastern. And then after the market closes or later that evening, I will review every single one of my trades and I'll kind of journal my thoughts and I'll try to figure out what I could have done better or maybe I had a perfect trading day. You know, you can't really be perfect in trading but maybe it was an excellent day and I'm just journaling my positive emotions. Whatever the case is but I'll journal, I'll figure out what I need to do better the next day or what I need to maintain for the next day.
Whatever the case is. And that's my routine every single morning and every single day. I also go to the gym around 4:00 or 5:00 p.m. Eastern as well and I make these videos, you know, either on my non-gym days or after the gym. And that's my structured routine. And then at night I eat dinner at basically the same time every day, spend time with my girlfriend at the same time every day. The point is because I have such a consistent routine, it's become easy for me to maintain it.
If you have volatility throughout your day-to-day life, you're going to have volatility in the, you know, within the things that you pursue. And if you're pursuing trading, the last thing you want is volatility. You don't want emotional highs and lows in the other parts of your life while you're focusing on trading. So, you want a consistent routine every day. You want to make sure you're doing the same things at the same time every day.
And after that, you also want a written out trading plan. You have to know exactly which criteria are you focusing on? What types of stocks are you focusing on? How are you scanning for those stocks every single morning? What separates a high probability trade from a low probability trade? How are you managing your risk on those trades? What is your max risk? Once you're in a trade, how are you managing it? Are you scalping it for a quick move or are you going for a much bigger play?
Where are you raising your stop loss to and how do you determine when to raise your stop loss? Right? Um do you have any rules within your plan that stop you from taking trades or that restrict you from trading if you give back too much profit on the day? Whatever the case is, you have to have a written out plan that will determine what you can and cannot do every single trading day. Your goal as a trader isn't even to trade and make money.
Your goal is to have an exceptional plan and to follow that plan every single day. And if that plan is really good and you're consistently following it, the money comes as a byproduct. The money is a result of your trading plan. And you're probably thinking to yourself, "Okay, well, if I'm a beginner trader, how am I supposed to already have a profitable trading plan?" And you won't. That's the point. Your plan in the beginning is going to suck.
And that's okay. Every beginner trading plan sucks. And the goal for you is to improve that plan through experience, through journaling, through back testing, and through reviewing your trades. And if you do that consistently, your plan will consistently improve with time, and as a result, you will become a profitable trader. And in the beginning, my greatest piece of advice is it's really hard to figure out what you're doing well within your trading.
Because if you're just taking your first few trades, you don't have a working strategy yet. You don't know your style of trading. But the best way to improve is to actually eliminate what clearly isn't working within your trading. For example, let's say you take 50 trades. And out of those 50 trades, you're noticing half of them are reversals. And out of all of those reversal trades, maybe only 10% of them actually made money, and the other 90% lost you money.
Well, that's important feedback, and that can help you refine your trading plan, so you're either way more selective with reversals, or you don't take reversals at all, and you cut that from your trading plan. And that's the best way to improve in the beginning is to essentially eliminate all of your obvious mistakes. Eliminate what obviously isn't working within your trading. And then over time, as you continue to trade, you'll begin to figure things out.
And your style of trading, the strategies that you gravitate towards, will become more and more apparent. And then once you figure out what you're doing really well at, you do more of that, and you continue eliminating what clearly isn't working within your trading. So, what I would do is number one, prepare your trading plan. And I have a lot of other videos on YouTube and in my free Ten Pull Strategy course that actually teach you how to do that step-by-step, so make sure you watch those.
But, once you prepare your trading plan, you execute it. You take 10 to 50 trades, and from there, you analyze them. You figure out what went well, what went wrong, you eliminate all of your mistakes, and from there, you refine your trading plan based off the data that you just collected. And once you refine it, you're sort of re-preparing it, then you execute it again, then you analyze what went well, what went wrong, then you refine it again.
And if you do multiple iterations of that over your first few months, you are 1,000% going to improve. And it all comes down to when are those improvements actually going to lead to tangible money. When are those improvements going to help you break through and finally become a profitable trader? And the last step, honestly, towards this process is your mindset. You have to take it seriously. You have to be all in. You cannot have one foot out the door.
It's either you are pursuing this and you're not going to give up, or you don't do it at all. Yes, trading is extremely difficult, but it's also rewarding because it gives you a skill set that nobody can take away from you. You are your own boss. You have the ultimate time freedom. You decide when you want to trade, and when you don't want to trade. You decide when you want to take off, and you are in control of your income.
You can directly scale your trading by improving and by scaling your risk. You are the one that holds your own fate. You decide your destiny as a trader, and that can lead to financial freedom, it can lead to time freedom, and it can lead to you living your best life, but it's difficult and it's time-consuming. And the only way that you could actually succeed with this is if you take it seriously. So, make sure you have the proper mindset.
Make sure you have the foundation behind your trading where you're not just trading randomly. You have strategies. You have criteria that you focus on. Build a structured routine and make sure you're consistent. Make sure you don't give up because you might be consistent for 1 or 2 months and you're you know, performing all the right habits, but you give up. And if you give up, then you're never going to succeed. Whereas if you stick with it for a month, 2 months, 3 months, then 4, 5, 6 months and you continue to stay relentless, that's how you're going to find success.
So, I hope you found tremendous value in this video. The message is take it seriously. And if you are someone who wants to take it seriously, you want to expedite the entire process, you want someone to hold your hand along the process, I do personally help scale and coach traders from zero to consistently profitable where I take my students under my wing and they learn how to trade by actually doing it with me on a daily basis.
And they honestly see life-changing results. This is for really serious students, but if you do want a hands-on mentor, you want to expedite the process and you want that structured framework behind your trading, you could also apply for my mentorship program and book a free consultation call also in the description under this video, but thank you so much for watching and make sure you leave a like.
