A Cadillac heading west loses control, rides up over the median, crosses into the opposite lane, and slams head-on into a Hyundai coming the other way. That's one person. I mean, >> Alexis Andeloo Loausano, age 19, would be charged with vehicular homicide and vehicular assault for the death of the child and the injuries to the victim. He was released on $150,000 bail with electronic home monitoring. And in November of 2024, he pleaded not guilty to both counts. The case would shift in 2025. In July, he pleaded guilty to a vehicular homicide and vehicular assault charge.

And what matters is what the plea rested on. The way he was driving, the entire impairment angle that had dominated the scene fell outside the theory of the case. The file describes him driving 74 mph in a 60 zone in heavy rain, passing other vehicles on bald rear tires. Toxicology never publicly established consumption behind the wheel and the case moved forward on dangerous driving. In July of 2025, the King County Superior Court imposed a 30month prison sentence for the vehicular homicide within a range of 26 to 34 months with a vehicular assault count running concurrently.

The state had asked for 34 months and the defense for 26. The court landed between those two figures and with that the case that had begun with its sight set on closed on a decision made behind the wheel.
