openAI is coming for grok and Jev transcript

All right. This is my first time live streaming in a long, long time. I'm not even sure if this is working or not. Hey, hey, can uh everyone hear me? First time in a long time. Feels good to be back. So, OpenAI just had their big dev day. Um didn't invite me. Open AAI, but um some cool things were announced. Um and hey, it's been a while since we've actually been live and chatted, so I'm super excited to jump on here and just uh talk.

Uh, did you guys watch Dev Day? Let me know if you did. We're going to go over a few of the things that they kind of announced, what they might mean for us, and what am I excited about? Because it seems like they're just copying people. It seems like everyone's copying everyone. Um, and Shermo says, "What's Jev?" Good question. We're going to talk about that. I'm actually working on a Jev video today. What's funny is that OpenAI has pretty much copied Jev.

Everyone's copying Jev. What's up? What's up, guys? How's it going? Also, I used to live stream a lot, but I'm very rusty. It's my first time in a long time. And real quick, can you tell me if you can hear me? Okay, I would love to know that. And do you have your coffee ready? Cool. All right. So, just how we're going to do this live stream today. Um, first I'm going to go over some OpenAI stuff. I will be looking at your comments and trying to find some good questions.

I will be doing a bit of a Q&A after we go over some of the OpenAI stuff. And then towards the end, we'll do some prayer requests and some prayer. If you're like, "What the heck is that, Chuck?" Uh, well, this is a new thing I've been doing on my channel at the end of my videos. Um, I like to pray for you, my audience. And also, I want to make sure that my stream health is going okay because my uh YouTube's like, "Oh, wait.

We're not sure if we like this or not." I want to change my streaming. I wonder if I can change it live to a lower Oh, I can't. It's just going to be uh It might hurt. Let me know if I'm um going low quality or anything or if it looks okay. Everything looks stable. Okay, cool. Cool. All right. So, the first thing big thing that they uh announced, actually, I'll just share my screen here. So, here we go. You should be able to see my screen right now, and you should be able to see my marker right here.

Dev Day 2026 recap. Um, and what what cracks me up, right, is like they pretty much just copied Grock. They copied um Hermes. They're they're copying everyone, which is fine. I mean, everyone copies everything, but I'd never played with Grockbot. And uh and I'll go into why I didn't hear in a second, but it's just interesting that OpenAI is coming out with their their own version. It's called Dot Dot. Uh which is a cute cutesy name.

Um is this muted? Yeah. Uh, by the way, Sam Alman, he did a good job with his presentation, but I could definitely tell he was a a little bit nervous. All right, biggest one yet. They had 20 major announcements. I could tell they were getting tired up there. They tried to do a lots of demos and it kind of failed midstream. Um, and when I say kind of failed, it actually for real failed. But anyways, dots really, what can you say about it?

They're remarkably capable, always on agents. They can do this and that. They can um look at your calendar, your emails, they can do all this. And I'm like, I'm trying to figure out what it's doing that I'm not already doing. How many of you have Hermes agents right now? Like, say it in the chat. How many have Hermes agents? And I'm looking at this and I'm going, "Okay, I see it. But my Hermes agent can already do this.

I'm already doing this now. I fully understand." Yes. See, everyone's got one. Everyone has one. I fully understand they're making this to appeal to a larger audience, right? Like not everyone's going to be running things like we do. We're not going to install Hermes. Not everyone is ready for that. Um, Tino has 10 agents. That's what I'm talking about. We need lots of agents. So, anyways, looking at this, it looks fine.

Like, I I'm not super stoked about it, but I do want to try it. like I'm excited to try it because I I think and the big advertisement for it, right, is that it will keep context. It'll learn you over time. Uh which I think is a neat idea. It will be able to run things in the background. Did Did it say that it's not going to use tokens or like go against your usage when you're talking to it? It'll I don't know. That's kind of what I heard.

Let's go to the main page. They're always on. Uh let's see. takes important work off your plate so you can get more of your time and attention back. Blah blah blah blah blah blah. Connects to 4,000 apps. Everything does. And they I mean again it sounds like everything I'm doing right now with Hermes I can text my Hermes agents. Heck, I'm texting my Claude code right now which is my main AI agent. I haven't actually got access to dot just yet.

They didn't give me advanced access. Um, I don't think it's Has anyone gotten access yet? Like I know it's like fresh, but they said it's going to launch today. And the Hermes bots is um is a thing now. Honestly, I don't use Hermes bots a lot. Uh, I play with it, but it's not really, again, I I' I've already like pushed Hermes to the limit with what I'm doing right now. This is not my thing. Uh, connect to other devices, blah blah blah blah blah.

I'm I'm open to the idea of it being cool. Now, what I'm actually interested in is the spaces thing they did. How many of you watched the paperclip video that we uh launched last week? A lot of you did. I think we just hit a million views, so thank you for helping us get there. Um, that video was fun. Let me know what you guys think of that video. They came out with something called spaces. Uh, did they talk about spaces at some point in here?

Goodness, they talk about a lot of things in this article. They're gonna have dot specialist which I don't think is out yet. Right now they're starting with just one dot and they said everything else is coming after that. Where's the spaces thing? Maybe I have it open here already. Tibo talked about the pro subscription. Let me search chat gbt spaces. Did I just miss it in there? No, I didn't see it. Weird. Okay. Little coffee break here.

Let me see if I can uh can I Oh, wait. Can I make things pop up? Oh, no. I lost my chat as I said that. I made it disappear. How do I get it back? I have no idea. Wow, I'm a chat noob now. All right, we'll just keep moving. I'll figure out the chat here in a moment.

Okay, so you're supposed to be able to text your dot, which I think is a neat idea. Now, right now, I text my Hermes agents. I've got it set up via Photon, which I think is really fun. iMessage with your agents is awesome. Um, but texting is on a limited beta weight list right now.

Uh, one dot per person. You create your dot on the desktop app or the desktop browser, not your phone just yet, which is kind of lame. Um, and OpenAI writes it's a lowercase dots. Now, what's really funny, did you guys see this? Um, I think Elon did this. If you go to dot.com Yeah, dot.com. Elon bought that, it redirects to Grockpot. That's m That's a masterclass. I love that. Um, that is so stinking funny. Now I'm gonna try and get my chat back.

I I seriously on my YouTube studio made my chat disappear. And I think I just killed my live stream. Oh no, there it goes. It's live. It's still good, I think. Goodness. All right, cool. So yeah, it just it cracks me up that uh they just redirected that um masterclass move, which makes me wonder, you know, as these companies are making all these new products. They have to be like they have to have some moles in there, right?

They have to have people in there just feeding information to each other and they have they've got to have AI talking to each other all the time and like figuring things out. Are we ever going to get sleep from Flo Kley, thank you for the super chat. Um, and yeah, honestly, when I saw that they were having dev day today, I my first reaction was not excitement, which is odd because I I I want to be excited about the new stuff.

Don't you? But I'm tired. I'm tired. Last week we had Oh, no. Earlier, I don't even know what day is it. We had Sonnet 5.5 come out. We had Opus 5.5. I think Grock 4.7 came out. And then we have GBT6 Soul came out. And then today GBT6.1 Soul. And I'm at the point where I'm like, I I want to use everything. I want to use the best models. I want to do the best things, but which ones are the best? I don't know. It's all vibe based.

You You use it and you just kind of feel how it is. It's stressful. So when they announced Dev Day, I'm like, am I just going to skip it? Maybe I should go into the woods and just play with leaves or something. I I don't know. But I couldn't skip it because I'm addicted like everyone else. Also, I keep telling myself this and I think we have to tell ourselves this, too. And I I I was talking with my family. They were they came over the other day, my extended family, and they're like, "Oh, yeah.

We don't we don't pay for a chatbt sub. We don't pay for anthropic or we don't pay for both or whatever." And I'm like, "Right now is a pretty unique time in history, right? Like we haven't seen this. No one has. This is the moon landing. This is bigger than the moon landing. This is huge. We've never seen something like this happen. And we're part of it. We're part of AI coming. Now, I know we're going to have people, and you're maybe one of them.

I'm I'm one of them every other day where I'm like, "Stop it. Stop the AI." I if we if I had the choice, if I had the power to turn off the AI switch and go back to how things were, I might do it. I might do it because I think we were happier. On the flip side, we're having a lot of fun. And what may be discovered with AI, what may be cured or or solved or something will probably be a better net good than anything else.

But I miss like I I I didn't program before, but my heart goes out to programmers because that's essentially a uh a job of the past and now I can develop anything. I actually I'm working on a development project. Oh my gosh, it's so stinking cool. My kids are loving it. But anyways, yeah, I'm tired, but I still watch the OpenAI dev day. I think it's very fun. Getting back to Grockbot. Not Grockbot. I got Grockbot in the brain because Elon did this and that's so stinking funny.

So, dots, it's going to be a thing. Um, I think we covered pretty much everything. I think the the plan usage that gets it is going to be the 100 plan, the 200 plan, and the new 500 plan. Uh, which is pretty intense. And business premium and enterprise. Uh, although I haven't seen it yet. I'm getting the not available in your region popup. Has anyone gotten it yet? Has anyone tried Grockbot yet? Gosh, Grockbot, I can't get it out of my head.

Has anyone tried bot dot dot, I got a a super chat from Neotech. Love your videos. First time seeing live stream. Just uh set up my local hindsight and configured my Hermes team to use it. Hey, hindsight's good. I've been using holographic, too. I set up an agent for my church, and this is pretty dang good. Um it it does really well with uh uh keeping the the data of like what what the context of your your company. So like for example, it's my church.

So it knows my church very well. It knows everything we do. It's very very good. What is the best LLM for locally run AI? Um I would say that local AI right now, the Quinn 27B model, the 3.7 is like the most efficient one. Um but we'll see. We'll see. Now, if you're just tuning in, I will be discussing a bit of the Dev Day stuff, OpenAI things. I'll go into questions after that because this is the first time I've live streamed in forever.

And I miss you guys. And if you've never been on a live stream with me, welcome. I'm so happy you're here. I literally just had the idea, came over here, I brewed some coffee, and I sat down. And um this is fun. And then at the end, we will do some prayer requests. Uh 404 Nikesh said, "Should I use AI for labs or not?" And I'm assuming when you say labs, you're probably talking about your learning experience as you're going for your CCNA when you're trying to uh learn Linux or something.

The answer is yes, but not immediately. First, do it yourself. Like you want to know, you want to actually learn the thing, but then also embrace the reality that you're going to be using AI for these things. So learn how to use AI efficiently for that lab. How would you connect AI to that lab? Would you would you use computer use? Would you use an MCP? Would you use um just SSH? Like how would you actually have your AI agent interact with that lab?

And how would you do that in the most efficient way? Because like right now you can pretty much have AI manage anything, but it's going to be very inefficient if you just have AI managing your Proxmox servers via the guey. No, don't do that. They have an API. Figure that stuff out. coffee break. All right, back to OpenAI stuff. Um, so your first dot is included in the plan. Um, oh yeah, and chatting with it doesn't count against your usage for the first month.

Okay, first month work, it starts in codeex or chatbt um does count and then usage terms will come after that. So, it sounds like they're just trying to get us in the door. Uh, by the way, I do love OpenAI. Like, I I think they're an amazing company. Uh, this stream is not sponsored by them, by the way. I have been sponsored by them in the past, but I was in a dev day today, so whatever. But, uh, they I think it's so cool how they do the resets, which is so fun for us.

Um, there'll be so many times I'm like, "Ah, I'm running out, man. Reset." Tibo announces a reset and it's so exciting. We did a live resa on the uh live the the live stream today. That was super fun. But okay. And then dots versus Grockbot. I kind of have like a run of show I'm going off here. Um I haven't used Grockbot, so I don't know. So um is anyone right now in the chat, are you using Grockbot on a daily basis?

I've seen people using it. I just it's one of those things where I know it's probably cool, but I'm already doing something cool. I already like I already have Hermes agents in my Slack. I when I wake up in the morning and I'm on my walk the first I I do a walk every morning. This is how I kind of clear my head in the day. And at the beginning of the day, I like to get sunlight hitting my eyeballs first thing. Reset that circadian rhythm kind of thing.

And the first mile of my walk, I am just driving agents to do all the things in my company, get my day set up, check my emails, make sure nothing's on fire. And I I'm watching the promises of all these companies and I'm like, I'm already doing that. And you know what? I like being in control of what my agents do. For example, Hermes, um, I can change it from JHPT to claude to Grock to local whenever I want to. I can change exactly what auxiliary models they use for any given task.

I like that. I like having control over that. I understand the convenience of all these bots is going to feel pretty good. Um, and and maybe one day open eye open AI will have it in such a way where it's it's like her from that movie and you just can't say no because it's so stinking good. Right now my stuff is stuff is awesome. Uh, we got a super chat from Adam Sandltd. Now, can I can I make this pop up on the screen?

I don't know. I don't know. I don't think I can. I'll have to figure out how to do that later. Again, haven't live streamed a long time. He says, "Your end of uh video prayers always keep me close to God in a world where people pretend AI is more than rocks that were taught to think. We didn't make the rocks." Thank you. Uh thank you for that, Adam. And uh yeah, the the prayers, they um they mean a lot to me, and I'm so glad that me they mean a lot to you guys as well. um is a thing that I just felt led to do and I didn't know it was going to happen, but I think most people enjoy them and that's that's that makes me happy.

Even if people didn't enjoy them, I was still going to do it. It just warms my heart that they are a net good in the world right now. Okay, so GP6 GPT6.1 soul. What's good about that? Let me go to the uh page and we'll do some drawing here. By the way, OpenAI probably has the sickest art right now in the way like I'm a sucker for good branding. And isn't this just awesome? Um, their asked to release. So, actually, I went to their offices.

Oo, look at the mouse thing. Okay. I went to their offices when I went to the Apple event a few weeks ago and it's pretty sick. They had some cool setups. I was just there to meet a friend from the team. It's got near Astra intelligence for a fifth of the price. Now, if you've not used GBT6 Astra, it's a special model. Like, it really is. It's very, very good. And I've used it to do some amazing things. 3D modeling. I created a game.

Um, can I can I show you this game? I'm going to show you the game. Um, I'm probably not supposed to show you this game, but I'm going to get logged into my uh family portal. It's a game I made for my family. And uh it is super fun. I'm not I'm not sharing my screen right now because I'm trying to protect myself from letting my data get out there. Goodness, I have so many things going on with my stuff that Oh, there it is.

Okay, so you got to check this out. Oh, come on. Something's like frozen. Don't freeze on me. Don't let me down. Okay, get ready for this. This right here is my my house and I have a short coming out on this soon. But I I was like, Astra sounds cool. I think it's powerful. I saw people using Blender and things to make it. And what I did is I just went to my house. I got out my phone and I started taking a video. And I videoed every room in my house.

I videoed every little knickknack and things. And I said, "Astra, let's make a game out of this." And so, right right now, you can see it. This is this is me. I'm in the game. This is legit what the inside of my house looks like. And uh it is so sick. And it's also multiplayer. I think I can play with my dogs. My My dogs are uh programmed to roam around. Where' they go? Did you see my dogs earlier? Where are they at?

Is Mochi under the table? Yeah, he is. I think I can play fetch with him. Let me see. Yes. Oh, he's he's trying to get up the stair. Oh, it's there's a bug. But anyways, that's what I did with Astra. It's a very powerful model. So, knowing that this has near Astro intelligence for the a fifth of the price is actually pretty exciting. I haven't tested it yet. I think Theo's already put a video out testing it. Um, but I will say GBT6 soul was kind of hot garbage.

I was using it as a coding uh kind of coding brain. I was having um Opus 5.5 do a lot of thinking and then kicking off coding tasks to GPT6 Soul. It was okay. But 6.1, I'm excited about that. They said it's good. We'll see if it's good. But again, I'm getting so stinking tired of all the model updates. Getting tired. Oh, someone said, uh, Chris Krisco said they got Hermes or not Hermes. Goodness, they got the bot, but their stuff is better.

Yeah, I think a lot of the stuff we build ourselves is going to be better. A quick super chat from Papo U96H. Hey, I missed the reg uh regular deadline for CCNA course. Will there be a more programs in the future? Also got any advice on where to start for ne networking jobs. So if you're wondering what the junk that is, we have what's called at the network chuck academy my um we have the fall into CCNA program which is not like a regular CCNA course.

Um, it does have a regular CCNA content from um, a guy named Jeremy Charara, who's a guy who taught me, but it's actually more of a cohort where you join students like yourself and you're taken through the curriculum um, through like three months and they check in with you. Um, there's live streams to make sure you're on track. It's very cool. But the deadline has been missed for fall. I believe we will be doing one at the beginning of the year.

So, to answer your question, that's the answer. I need to refill my coffee. And by the way, thanks everyone for being here. This is uh really fun. And again, I'm a big Open AI fan. Uh I'm actually a general AI fan. Like I love Anthropic as well. But OpenAI has seemed to be doing some very cool things recently. So I haven't benchmarked uh 6.1 Soul yet, but I'm excited. And what I'm excited to use it for is um I'm going to replace the brain on a few of my Hermes agents to see if it can make them a bit better.

Right now I have them on Astra, which makes them a bit slower. And it looks like they're saying that get my pen out here. It's a new balance of capability and cost for important everyday t everyday work. substantial improvements over GBT6 soul, which is so stinking funny because did they they literally just released Soul for six, right? They're like, "This just came out, but there's a substantial improvement on it already." Just the rate of improvement right now is stress me out the AI is going to take over the world.

It already has. It stresses me out that I can't keep up with it. Like, I I want to I want to enjoy it. Can we slow down? It's it's it's like playing a video game too fast like or like eating too fast. No, I want to take it slow. I want to enjoy this. They're releasing things too fast. I can't like just sit there and do things. It's good at multi-step. Um and on several of these evaluations, it approaches GPT6 asterisk performance at substantially lower cost.

Now, I'm curious for you in the chat right now who use AI like me and your AI pil when do you use Fable and Astra right now? because right now we have some very very good models that are mid-tier and they they come pretty close to the greatest one. So, Opus 5.5. Let me let me uh actually haven't seen me do this yet. This is pretty fun. Watch this. Boom. Okay, so we've got Opus 5.5 and that is really good. And now we have GPT 6.1 soul.

And now apparently that's very good. I'll put it through its full paces. But I'm always confused of when to use Fable, which I think is on 5.1 right now, and Astra, which is just its own thing, whatever. Um, when do we use this? Because Opus 5.5 has been so good. And I kind of stopped using Fable for a while. And I was asking my AI group. I'm like, "When do you guys use this?" I'm like, "Oh, we still use Fable and Astra for a lot of things." I'm like, "Oh, but I want to save tokens and I don't have that kind of money." Like, it's kind of crazy.

So, when do you use Astra and Fable? I'm curious. Let me switch back to my camera here. I got a super chat from Eric Harrison. Thank you for the super chat. He said, "I would love to use agents in mine, my family's life to help organize our lives. How do you and your family use agents?" So, right now, uh, here, let me let me draw. I want to go over to I'll go to Photoshop again. There we go. And we're diving in. So, I for the most part went full Hermes.

And I don't I don't give my kids AI. You might have seen a post about that. I I I I'm not anti-AII with my kids, but I don't have a good way to give it to them yet that I I think won't replace their thinking. They have to learn how to think. Um and I it's hard for me to find the balance of using AI and and like going, "No, that task, that big thinking task needs to be for me. That writing task I need to sit with. I need to think about that.

I I shouldn't let the AI think for me in that moment. My kids aren't aren't going to have that ability to know that yet. But I have given um AI to my wife. So I my wife has a dedicated Hermes agent. Her name is Honey. And Honey's awesome. I did have Honey up in a hosting or cloudvp um but I actually ended up moving it down to a Proxmox VM. So Honey lives on her own Proxmox VM. She has her her own machine for security and just for her ability to access anything on her machine.

I think these AI agents live so well on Linux. I get so mad at my agents who live on a Mac because of permissions. I run into permissions problems all the time. Honey, she doesn't have any problems on Proxmox VM. Now, for Honey's memory, I haven't done a video on memory with AI, but I think I should because there's it's such a big world. For Honey, I've connected her memory to Hanjo. And what that means is, you know, an AI is going to have built-in memory, but then you can add additional memory to help it well remember things.

Honcho, if you saw my Hermes video, was it my Hermes video that I mentioned? Honcho. Honcho, it's kind of like it's kind of like a friend sitting next to the Hermes agent, like handing it post-it notes on what to remember as we're talking to it. So, it's constantly searching things that have been said. So my my wife might ask her her honey agent, hey create a a document for the kids homeschool and honcho might feed honey like oh hey by the way the oldest kid needs help with math so like you may remember that and and and do this like this is a terrible example but it's it's very cool.

So to answer your question I I give a dedicated Hermes agent to my wife. I do fully control that. Um, I can talk to it as well, but I don't usually talk to it. And I back up uh through Proxmox the VMs on a backup cycle every night. But anything else I don't give it to my Oh, no. I take that back. I do have a Hermes agent that's dedicated to my home assistant at my house. So, it is um just kind of sitting there uh chilling.

And I like So, for example, my daughter's birthday was recently uh happening or it was last week and she loves Stranger Things. So, I like just texted my Hermes agent for the house. Hey, make it Stranger Things. Turn on some music. Make it look nice. Boom. Like, that's so fun. Like, it just knew. It knew the house. It could do the thing. So, that's that's kind of what I've done so far. But then most of the things I do to help my family is not AI based.

It's it's creating programs and portals and dashboards that assist my family. Like, so more deterministic code. Um, and that's very fun. So, for example, I have an app. We call it the Burrow because I'm a Harry Potter nerd. And it has a bunch of things built in. Like I built my own Ani so my kids can memorize and and do things for school. We have shared Bible readings in there and we can actually make notes on the verses.

And we have like a shared family commentary. So sick. And it's not hard to make. That's like I I can tell you this and just with that description, I know that you can take any of these new AI models we have and you can build it yourself. Isn't that amazing? Like we live in a cool time. Anyways, I spent a long time on that question, but I I do enjoy questions like that. They're really fun. We'll make sure that I'm not talking to nobody.

Okay, everyone's here. Cool. Now, getting back to a little bit of what we originally were going to talk about here in this video. Now, one thing I thought was hilarious was their new uh deci decisions API, which I don't think there was a maybe a dedicated link on that. Um, how familiar are you guys? How familiar are you guys right now with Jev? That's JV. I'm going to draw again. Why do I keep going off that page anyway?

Here we go. Let's go. I'll look at you this way. So, we have Jev. Oh, why is that pen black? That's not doesn't look good here. We need white here. I'm going to erase all this. And bring up something new. So, Jev, that's that new model from Typesafe. And it's not an LLM. It doesn't really talk to you. It gives you answers. So, if I were to ask it, hey, is this YouTube comment spam? That's the type of question you would ask.

It would answer yes or no, but it would not output text. It would not sit there and think. And the reason that's powerful is it's very fast. Um, and it's taken the world by storm. There's a lot more to it, and that's what I'm going to put in my video. So, that's coming soon. But I was curious and I actually interviewed uh the founder of this this software um earlier this week or was it was Friday and I was going to ask like hey when do you think the frontier models are going to catch up to you because you know they are you know they're thinking about it you know they they saw all the the hype around it and they're like yeah we can do that we have the we have all the manpower.

So, OpenAI came out with the decisions API, which essentially we can assume is going to do the same thing. It's going to be very very quick to answer decision-based things. And what it means is not giving it like, hey, um, what do you think about this project? It's not these big open-ended questions. It's more like a question that you know could have like a yes or no answer or a multiple choice. So you might you might give it a YouTube comment like for example it might be like a comment saying sign up and I and we get these kind of things on YouTube all the time.

Sign up for my course at whatever.com. So you might send this YouTube comment to Jev or the new decisions API and say you might ask it a multiple questions. You might say, "Is this a an inspirational uh comment on the YouTube channel? Is it is it saying good things about Chuck?" Which that's what we'd ask it regarding me, right? Is it trying to sell something? Is it redirecting to a link? And so it would answer each of these questions and you would um it would be like true or false or yes or no.

And it's very very fast. Like it's extremely fast, which is why people are freaking out about it. again a lot more into it but it's so funny OpenAI is coming for it and also the creator of Jev um or at least one of the creators it's a company called Types Safe AI his name is Diego he was originally from the open AI team he was one of the original people who helped with the uh earlier chatbt models so he he left that to work on what he's doing now which is type safe that was a fun detour coffee break.

But we are at the point where when I do a lot of my tutorials, I'm going to think about, okay, do you need a big set of instructions, do you need me to walk you through everything or do I teach you the highle things about this tool, whatever it might be, and I provide a document for your AI agent to take the next steps. I think you do you need to know some things about whatever it is, right?

But you don't usually need to know everything and your AI agent can kind of take over. Not a bad idea though to to sell like a installer setup thing. Okay. Actually, I need your help audience. But Plex is just like Netflix, right? You go in, you sit there, and you try to choose what you want to watch, and it is exhausting. I hate choice. I really do. I hate having to choose things like when I'm relaxing, right? And I and I wanted to remove the choice.

And I thought, you know what? If what if I could create TV like I grew up with in the 90s in the in the early 2000s where you don't have a choice. Whatever was on is on. You're flipping channels, man. You go to a guide, you don't like, if Spongebob isn't on right now, you don't get to watch Spongebob. If Blueie isn't on right now, you don't get to watch Blueie. And that's what I wanted my kids to have. So, I made it.

I just made it. And I have an Apple TV. So, I made an Apple TV app. And it's called Keith TV. It's not like a thing you can go download. It's It's only installed locally, but I made my own TV. It is connected to Plex uses the Plex API, but it it schedules out shows and you just change the channel. You go to the guide, the kids just kind of and so it's nice like I have like my own channels. I have a parks and wreck channel, an office channel, a classic horror movie channel.

So like when you're tired at the end of the day, you just kind of sit down and turn the TV on. I don't spend three hours on Netflix trying to figure out what I want to watch. I just turn the TV on and it's nice. I just and I didn't realize how much I hated picking things until I did that. And it's so stinking cool. I also did this commercials. I added commercials, but I added fun commercials. Like commercials from the 90s that make me have nostalgia and make my kids go, "What the junk were you watching back then, Dad?

That's so stinking weird." Uh, so I for Halloween, it's Halloween season, spooky season. I had it I had my AI agent go out and find all these classic 90s and early 2000s Halloween commercials and pull it in and it plays like every so often. Also, we can create our own commercials. So, I'll create commercials for things I want my kids to remember. Like, hey kids, remember this Bible verse? Here it is. Also, I'm This is a coming feature.

I haven't done this yet. I want to add quizzes in between shows instead of commercials that they have to like answer based on like the Bible or their home school or something to quiz them and engage their brain uh before they can continue watching TV. It's I mean we can just do anything now. But anyways, let me know if you want to see a video on that. I think the answer was probably yes. One day, these prices are not going to be here. One day, we're not going to be subsidized for what we're getting. meaning that this is a discount.

This is crazy good for what we're getting. We're not paying API prices. Have you paid an API price? It's ridiculous. It's dumb. Don't do it. This is a This is a steal. And we get ultraast included. We'll talk about ultra fast here in a moment. They demo actually Actually, I'll talk about it now. They demo it ultra fast. It's just a It's It's so funny they had this, by the way. It's uh you talk to Chat GBT, it'll go to a certain speed.

It'll respond to you in a certain speed. Apparently, you can turn that up. And that's what UltraFast is. So, you can talk to Astra. I think it's only Astra right now. You can talk to Astra, ask it to build things for you, and it will go wicked fast. They had a really fun demo. I'm not going to show it here. You can look it up where they built a rocket, and they had it side by side, but it's going to burn through tokens.

I think six times as fast. Man, I can wait a little bit. But I totally understand if you're a company and you're trying to ship features and you're competing with everyone else. Yeah. like it's it's you want to do that. For me, I don't mind moving a bit slower. I'm not going to go ultra fast, but I I I'll probably end up paying the 500 plan. So, let me know in the comments. I'm not going to show you, but it's using local models to to produce video and sound and it's doing images and posts. Like, it's really it's a neat idea. I'm just letting it run. I'm actually doing a um a panel at VidSummit on Thursday, which is like this big YouTuber conference and it's on like what should we give away to AI? What should AI do for us and what should we keep? Especially, you know, for me as a creator, how much AI is too much for you? Like if if I were to use AI to make my thumbnails, which we do sometimes, does that give you like do you hate that? If I use AI to write my videos, would you hate that?

If I use AI to edit my videos, would you hate that? Think about that for a second. We'll talk about it here in a moment. Like, really think about it because it's a technology like a computer. And uh Hermes is one of those main partners. So, it's now even easier to use ChadBt with your Hermes agents, which um by the way, did y'all see that? This is kind of big news. I feel like not enough people talked about this. You see that you can now log in with Claude again with your Hermes agent?

Yeah. Like they they solved it a little bit. It's you can it's a SDK plugin and you can log in with your Hermes agent and it will use your clawed tokens part of your plan, not pay as you go. It's it's in beta. It's experimental, I think, but I I've been using it. It works pretty well. But chat GBT is still kind of the goat, right? There's a meetings plugin. That space thing. Thank you for the super chat. Says, "With AI evolving, is an IT degree still worth it?" What a great question. And honestly, oh, it depends. I think right now the job market is still adapting to what's going on. Like right now, I'm in a bubble and you are in a bubble.

And by by that I mean most of the world has is not watching OpenAI dev day. Most of the world is not tuning into a Network Chuck live stream to talk about this kind of stuff. Most of the world has no idea what's happening. So, I think we are very very ahead. We are cutting edge. So, the world is still going to be slow and catching up. Um, go outside and talk to people. You, you know, like you'll talk to your family. They're like, I'm like, "Hey, have you guys heard about Jev?" And they're like, "Who's Jeff?" I'm like, "No, Jev." And then I try to explain what it is.

And I realize they don't even know enough about all the other AI to appreciate what Jeb is. So, it's a whole thing. Anyways, so to answer your question, it depends on where you're at, what kind of job you're looking for. Um, I think in the future, if if I'm going to look into a crystal ball, I think it degrees are going to become less and less needed. Like for me, I don't have a degree. I never needed one. Um, I went the certification route and I think that's that's you know what I don't think AI has anything to do with an IT degree right now.

I think that certifications and proving your knowledge and doing labs and having projects have always been better than a degree. Getting a degree is expensive. It's time consuming and usually the knowledge you gain in that is going to be outdated. That's most of the time. I can't speak for every single degree program and I bet someone in the chats gonna be like, "Oh, no. I'm going to WGU and they made me get my CCNA and that's that's cool.

However, I think right now you can learn stuff easier um on your own or through like a cohort like we have Network Chuck Academy." That's what we're trying to answer with my academy right now honestly is we're looking at the current state and what people need because people need purpose. People need jobs. People need the ability to provide for their families. And that's what we're trying to figure out and answer for for people at NetworkChuck Academy.

And I I didn't mean to turn this into a shill answer, but like it's it's a answer I'm passionate about I look at my kids and like what they're going to need to know. And I look at um kids in high school and people in college are like what do they need to know? What what is the stinking future? The honest answer is no one really stinking knows because every week we're surprised by what comes out, right? But the the practical answer right now is you can't control that.

You can't be afraid because there's nothing you can do. Focus on what's inside your control right now. What can you control? You can control right now the ability to learn or you can control what you're devoting your time to right now and what you're going to learn. Are you going to learn? Are you going to get your CCNA? Are you going to get your security plus or whatever? Like fill in the blank. Are you going to spend time learning that and getting it to get that job? jobs are still looking for people with those skills.

Even with AI just going crazy. I know right now for me as someone who hires people, I still want people. AI is fun. Sure. I want people though. And even though AI does enable you to have less people, I still want people. I still want a person behind every role and job. Um, so if I think about an IT department, I still would want a network engineer. I want them to be using AI. They're going to become way more efficient, but I want them to use AI, but I still need them.

I still need them. So, I know a long-winded answer. I don't think an IT degree right now is worth it. But I think the knowledge you would learn in that and the knowledge you can learn on your own right now is worth it. And I in an IT job is certainly worth it right now. Yes, it is 100%. Anyways, that was a long answer. I apologize. All right. Uh, did we finish our lightning round on what happened with OpenAI? Uh, they're gonna have Oh, it's kind of cool.

They had Codeex. They had a demo where they raffled off um they had their little bot pick random members of the audience and then they awarded them uh tickets to next year's dev day, which I didn't know they that's how they did that. So, there's no hardware. um GPT6.1 Astra was held back actually over safety concerns. I heard about that a few days ago and like that that was it. I know some people I saw online were kind of bummed about the dev day like they were expecting more.

Uh either way, the pace of AI, you know, let me know in the chat. Is the pace of AI right now stressing you out? For me, yes. Yes. And and it comes and goes, right? So when I make those videos, it's more about a series. So what I'm saying is like you don't you shouldn't have to learn every AI tool right now, but you should, man, you should know what's going on. You should be aware. You should be trying to use it in your job. Think about how you can add value. And that's that's one thing I want you to take away from this. I know we kind of talked about jobs a bit and obviously all this AI stuff coming out is going to impact jobs and what you do.

What's never going to change is that companies the reason they hire you is they had a problem. They had a problem and they need they needed someone to solve it. Like their problem was there were too many IT issues and they needed someone to sit there and answer the phone and solve the problems when people had IT issues. Boom. You're a problem solver. Now that's that particular problem might be changing. that problem might be solved by AI.

It doesn't mean there's no more problems. It means we just got to figure out what the next problem is that we're going to solve. Because at the end of the day, us folks, we're problem solvers. That's what we do. We adapt. We figure out the next problem to solve. And that's exciting. So shift whatever you got in your brain right now that's making you go, "H, I don't know. I don't No, no. Stop it. AI is fun. It's exciting.

Don't be a doomer. We're in a We're in a great time. Embrace it all because there's no other choice, but also because it legit is fun when you get into it. Don't let it stress you out. Sure, I do have a script, but it's a script I wrote. And when I'm teaching you a technology, it's a technology I've wrestled with that I'm like, what is this doing? How do I get it to work? What if I did this? Can I do this? Like, I'm I wrestle with it before I teach it.

Uh, my issue with justifying the $500 plan is I built five amazing projects, but I have a problem with monetizing, marketing, deploying it. What's your advice? Uh, document your journey 100%. Um, I was uh driving home from Dallas the other day and I, you know, the company Lovable, I saw one of their signs and it said 1 million apps a week being created and I knew it was probably they obviously they put that that out there to make you want to join and that made me want to join less.

I'm like a million apps a week then how can anyone make an app that competes with anyone else? So I point that out to say like anyone can code now. Anybody anybody can take an idea and make it and put it out there. What's going to matter at the end of the day is the quality of that idea. Is it a really good idea? Like is it really good? And then two, marketing. How do people find out about it? And and I would add a number three and it's kind of it kind of plays into marketing, but like what's the story behind it?

Because people care about stories. So like they they need to understand like what problem are you solving? Why why are you like why are you uniquely positioned to to create the solution to that problem? Why tell that story? Tell the story of you building it. Um even with all the stuff with AI at the end of the day people want to hear from people. People care about people. Uh, so make it as personable as you can. Put put yourself out way out in front and make it as personable as possible and go out of your way to make it feel more real.

Like we saw with Opus 5.5 when it launched, everyone's doing these uh launch videos. And it's so good at making launch videos and they're like, "Wow, are launch videos dead?" They're not dead, but they're now easy. Do things that are hard. Do the hard thing. Handdraw. Do some claimation. Make a Lego set of your product. Like, I don't know. Do something hard. Because you know what people want to see? People want to see things that take time and take effort and that are really hard to do.

We don't watch the Olympics or the World Cup because we think it's easy. No, we we know it's hard. It's hard what they're doing. We don't watch Americans America's Galent or Britain's Got Talent or American Idol because it's it's easy for them to do that. No, it's hard. And now that anyone can make code, anyone can make a website, anyone can can create whatever, it's becoming more difficult for us to notice when someone is do like really putting in hard work and doing something unique.

So, I I had AI build a UI on top of the tools I would use to run metrics to make it look nice and and actually save my editors some time because you would not know the you don't know the amount of time they spend zooming into stuff and making it look pretty so you can read it on a video. Yes. Yes. Uh 100%. Which is why I still teach Linux, which is why I still use Linux myself and I still try to keep myself updated on on Linux because it's easy to like forget things. And um sure AI is going to eventually abstract more and more and more, but I think um where I've landed right now is I really love being in the terminal. I think the best tools, the best AI tooling is made for the terminal and I can do so much through it.

I'm working on a video on a tool called Herder right now. Oh, such a great tool. It's changed everything for me and uh yeah, Linux is part of that. So, 100%. I'm sorry about the cough. Doable. Want to ditch Windows 11? Yeah, it's totally doable. Um, I still use my Omachi laptop even though right now I'm on a Windows machine for streaming. I use my Mac as my business computer. But when I'm at home or when I'm traveling or whatever, I take my my framework Omachi laptop and I'm I love it. It's great. I think it 100% is doable. I think right now with AI being like a first class citizen on Omachi that's one of the big biggest things about it.

You can drive and do a lot of things. You can solve a ton of problems without issue. So yeah. Yeah. Um it might take time to solve problems but that's the thing like normally back in the day right if you wanted to switch to Linux it meant that whatever problems were out there whatever thing you had to to do um you had to solve it yourself that meant spending hours on Stack Overflow or some kind of random Reddit thread or Linux forums and that was time that a lot of people just don't have and you get frustrated and you like you throw up your hands I'm done but now it's you just ask AI to fix it for you And in using Omachi, it's pretty much solved every problem I've thrown at it.

Like it hasn't and and when I've, you know, broken it myself, it can fix it. So, we're we're in a pretty cool time. All right. So, we're uh getting pretty close to where I am tired. I feel like I created a great app tool for software developers. um he hated switching between apps. And I totally understand if this prayer part is not for you. But if you're like, I don't know, and you're open to it, hey, you're not here by accident.

You didn't join this live stream by accident. You're here for a purpose. Uh, I think so. Anyways, uh I'm just gonna start praying and I'm going to just kind of look through the chat right now. So, let's pray together. This is kind of cool. All 1500 of us praying right now. God, I thank you for today. Thank you for this live stream. I thank you for this community of people and what we get to do to impact the world, to see the world changing, and to have the the tools you've been given right now. um give us wisdom and guidance on that and remove any stress or anxiety from us right now.

I ask in your name and as I'm praying for these people right now, Jesus um praying for Mo Jeep and he lost his or they lost their job. I pray that you would just provide them a job, Lord. that you would show them the path forward, that you would give them the skills they need, and that you would provide that next opportunity and let and just help them to not be discouraged, to um wake up each day knowing that today could be the day and to not lose that fire.

Um, let's see what else. And I'm calling out right now or I'm praying right now for everyone. Uh, let's see. We got Loi Bear. Uh, the church is going through a hard time, so prayer would be amazing just for peace and unity. Okay. So, let's pray right now for Yogi Bear. Um, we ask in your name that you be with our church. Um, church is hard. Church is a community of people who um are in different walks of life with different beliefs and it's putting all these people together with different personalities to try and force them to grow together and that's what makes them grow.

So God, I pray that through this time of time of um just hardness that you would give them peace, that you remind them that they are they belong to you and that you love each of them and that uh the Bible calls us to peace and unity to make peace at all cost and to um and to love each other like you loved us. So Lord, I pray that you just breathe that life into their church and uh let the outcome be something that honors you, Lord.

Okay, we got GP Rez wife is sick and really worried about her health. Lord, I ask that you be with GP Res's wife, that you would heal her body. You know what's going on. You know what's happening. Heal her, Lord. Uh give her health. Let her um just figure out what this is. bless uh the doctors that are in her life. Bless um everyone in her life. Let them be an encouragement to her. And just let whatever it is be healed through your um your power, God, through the the gift of of hospitals and doctors and and medical science.

We ask this in your name, Lord. All right. Trying to get through all the prayer requests here. And sorry if I if I do miss yours. Um the the uh stuff is going pretty through pretty quick. Uh we got Eric Harrison. Prayer for uh his family is going through a rough time right now. Okay, let's pray for that. Um God, be with Eric's family right now. Oh, family is a cornerstone. Family is everything. So Lord, just be with them.

Whatever it is that they're going through, you're right there with them. You're with them in that fire, in that stress. Let them be aware of that. Let them turn to you in this. Let them give it to you. And Lord, I ask that you deliver them from this this time of just hardness. Heal their family. Uh we have seasons and we know this. So Lord, teach them whatever they need to learn in this time and deliver them from whatever it is and just remind them of who you are.

Um, by the way, this is so cool. I love this. Oh, we got a super chat from Slinger Joe. Pray for house prices in Australia to go down. Okay, let's pray for that. God ask your name that uh you be with uh Slinger Joe and that you would We're probably not going to affect the housing market too much right now. praying for Australia. But I pray that you would provide them a house that you would provide a path to the a house that is affordable that will um house them and their family that would put them in the perfect area for them and just provides for them.

God, we ask this in your name. Shoot, if we pray for the Australian house market and it went and it went down, dude, that'd be cool. I don't know. All right, we got HyperVance just uh asking for prayer from Brazil. So, we're asking that you or Hyper Yeah, HyperVance. We're asking your name that whatever is going on with Hypervance um that you help them in their life that you would remind them of who you are that you would uh bless them in their career, bless them in what they're doing. just pray uh I pray for their life and their family that you give them peace and excitement in their life and a path forward.
