Install THIS Driver Before You Play Switch Games on your AYN Thor! transcript

All right, guys. This is just a quick PSA video. >> Following is a public service announcement. >> Before running Switch games on your AYN Thor or any other console for that matter. When running Switch games on your AYN Thor, use an emulator called Eden. And Eden uses [music] Turnip drivers, right? >> We are Turnip. >> There's a new set of Turnip drivers or drivers in general >> [music] >> that Guys, I'll be honest, these are like the best drivers for the Switch that I've used so far.

So, if [snorts] I go into Eden and then my GPU driver manager, you can see that I've tried like a bunch here. I've tried Turnip Gen 8 V34. I've [snorts] tried Mr. Purple T29, Mr. Purple T23, Mesa Turnip drivers R7. And as you can see, the one I've got selected is the I don't know how to pronounce it. I'm just going to call it Apex. The [music] Apex version 2 ultimate drivers. Guys, I'll be honest. So, I've tried all these other ones, right?

And they've all kind of work with their own success rate or whatever. But [snorts] these ones here, the Apex drivers version 2, specifically for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. Guys, these drivers run every game so much smoother and with less fan noise and with less every like it just runs it how a Switch would run it. And even nicer than the Switch, honestly. Cuz I'd be running games like Pokémon Shield. And Pokémon Shield would like lag a little bit and with other drivers, but I'll be honest, with these drivers, guys, there's no lag.

There's no lag whatsoever. I'm just going to launch the game now and it does take slightly longer to build shaders, which is what I've noticed, but I'm more than happy for it to build shaders in the background and just launch into the game and run a lot more smoother. So, as you can see, it's locked into a 36 frames per second. And before I'd need to go into here, quick settings, right? And I'd need to like turn off the limit speed for it to be able to reach higher frame rates.

But even with the limit speed on, it's always locked in more than 30. It's at 36 right now. And it could even go higher. It's just so smooth the way it runs. And this is just Pokémon Shield. And the fans aren't even running as much anymore. As you can see, the temps are cool in the 50°. The fans are 34%. It just runs so good. And if I jump out of Shield for a second, we're just going to open Marika Deluxe. Again, it takes a bit extra time to build the shaders, but it's just so much quicker.

And even Marika 8, it's locked in at 60. Like, there's absolutely no lag when playing these games with these new drivers. I don't know what they did to the drivers, but they're just so good, guys. It's It's honestly, you can see there's absolutely no lag, no slowdown whatsoever with these drivers. They're just proper proper nice. Locked in 60 as well. It's like there's no frame dropping, nothing. And with the other drivers, there used to be like a few skips here and there, a few bits of lag here and there.

But these drivers have just sorted everything out. And I know the drivers are only going to improve as well. The fans are kicking in a little bit more, but it's not the worst in the sense of it still runs great. And it's worth a bit of fan noise, to be honest. You can see the fans are up to 45% now, and the temperatures have creeped up a bit as well. But it's still great, guys. It still runs fantastic. Locked in at 60.

This is just how Switch games are meant to be played. And the cool thing is, guys, this not only works with Switch, it works with a GameCube as well. So, for all these games that you have on your GameCube, will just run a lot smoother. So, if I go into the emulator, we go into Dolphin, we hit settings, we go to graphic settings, go all the way down until you get to GPU driver. And once you get to GPU driver, you basically just install the same driver.

So, as you can see, the Apex version 2 Snapdragon Gen 8. If I just show you guys, let me go into Cocoon cuz I like it better. If I just go into Mario Sunshine, this game is notoriously hard to emulate for whatever reason. It was just running like crap when I first tried to install it like like it was running at like 10 frames a second. I haven't actually gotten into just scale on this, so this is running at the native 1x, which is fine.

I don't I don't actually don't mind it. So, I'm going to hit start and we're going to go to our save. And guys, this just runs so good now. It's at It is at 30 frames per second. It's not like a cool casual 60, but at least it just runs smoother. It's not even at 30, it's at like 26, whatever. But, the main thing is it's not crashing all over the place. It was basically unplayable, but now using those drivers, it's actually playable now.

And I've actually never played Mario Sunshine growing up. I never had a GameCube, so which is why I'm also excited to play all these games now. And it's just so good, guys. Like I cannot wait to start playing all these games and just to see how they are. It just makes me want to actually play GameCube games now because I wasn't able to before. So, now I'm actually able to and I can't wait to play all these games. Yeah, guys, hope you enjoyed this little sort of PSA video.
