discovering botanica transcript

hey it's Vic welcome to the video over the last few months I've spent a lot of time learning about Botanica and I put together this video to help you find your way around the space with great artists tutorials sample packs and streamers there's plenty out there it's just not always easy to find and on top of that I did some fancy editing like this [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] there are two sides to Botanica on one hand you have pop music like Porter Robinson's nurture album and on the other hand you have producers like Gian and a who are using extremely exper Al techniques with textures and Foley like this but before I get too far ahead of myself I want to show you how it all began for me I stumbled across this genre a few months ago and I was obsessed immediately obsessed something about it just made me look at music differently it made me feel differently [Music] and that's really where the obsession began for me and I may have watched a few videos on Botanica but I found some really cool things out there don't try to make remember darling don't look for me I'm just a Sor being let's prend Botanica gives me a sense of melancholic Nostalgia a disassociation from what we expect a type of music that rarely has words but can make you feel hopelessly lost and safe at the same time something about the genre brings me back count the risk of hurricanes in your area trim the trees around your house okay maybe not that far back but it brings you back to a childhood of late nights watching cartoons when I was supposed to be asleep a distant memory that I once cherished but now sits in the back of my mind sometimes people call A chmatic music as a cinema for the ears the cinema in which only the ears are active when you start combining sounds and inventing new sounds you don't have any more clear references and you start imagining situations worlds uh different ways of what's Happening you it's a more I always say it's a more active listening [Music] and at some point along the timeline we went from somewhere around here to [Music] here when Daniel truji says acousmatic is Cinema for the ears he does a great job of putting a purpose behind the music and when you put these two genres side by side it's clear where the inspiration for Botanica comes from but now after that history lesson I kind of just want to show you around the space and let you see if Botanica is something you could be interested in I would like to preface that these are my takes and you might feel differently if you want bangers some just absolutely good Botanica Tunes there's a bunch in the description of some of the leading artists in the space if you want to start making Botanica I've got tutorials and Sample packs there too Botanica sample making definitely has a learning curve and it's helpful to get your foot in the door with some high quality samples made by some experienced Botanica producers you'll also find an entire section on Alexander panas a pioneer of many of the sound design techniques we use in Botanica today now with all this information I hope you feel inspired to make Botanica I'd like to take the time to thank all the people who helped me put this video together I couldn't have done it without your support see you
