UNIQUE Sound Design with this FREE Spectral Plugin Suite transcript

yo this free plug-in Suite allows for some really unique sound design blessed are we by one Andrew rean who's given us the spectral Suite each one of these seven plugins uses an fft algorithm which like I don't even know what that does yeah anyways I found these in a nle video which you should watch after this video and thought more people needed to see this so let's get into it bin Scrambler bin Scrambler is one of the most interesting plugins here I don't think I've seen anything like it in basic terms it's a frequency randomizer it takes the frequencies of your input sound and scrambles them according to a couple of controls the first one is scramble which represents the probability that any given frequency is randomized below that is scatter representing how far the frequency can be from its origin then there's the rate at which frequencies are scrambled you can make a pretty cool dissonant bell sound from this plugin just out of a saw wave just by the nature of it so if I get myself a bin Scrambler here and then put down literally any note doesn't really matter since the frequencies are going to get randomized and let that play through turning the scramble and Scatter all the way up and the rate all the way down you get this kind of sound which is of course Very metallic and then if I get myself serum effects and then put a volume envelope on this you can kind of hear what I'm talking about and I'll get a Reverb in here as well and probably reduce the rate of this I might change the wave table as well that a to do and then you can just resample individual bell sounds and use them as you wish this is definitely one of those kinds of plugins that can turn something relatively mundane like this into something a lot more complex I'm not going to go over this too much but basically I split the low mids and highs and put the bin Scrambler on the midband that's pretty much it and then obviously some extra processing after that once again with this plugin you're going to want to resample everything that you do because it's not going to play the same every time spectral gate spectral gate is probably my most used out of the bunch when applied it gives a sort of audio degradation type sound which can be pretty useful cutof off amplitude is the loudness any frequency has to be to pass through weak strong balance is pretty interesting the only way I can describe it is that when it's at one the plugin operates as expected but when at zero it does the exact opposite gate tilt is basically tolerance the higher the value the less frequencies get to pass through this can be toggled as well you can use this plugin as a sort of audio degradation type sound for example if I get a white noise from just 3x oscillator and run that through a spectral gate it works exactly as you might think you can also get the same effect with pretty much any other sound I believe I've made a video about something like this before but I will do it again anyways so if you get something pretty transient like a rain sample and put it through this plugin you can get a very bubbly kind of sound and putting this through something like a resonator with maybe an Ott and some delay gets you some really interesting pad likees [Music] sounds this sound really reminds me of like the the Spore cell stage uh character editor I don't know sounds pretty cool though frequency magnet I haven't used this one much yet but it's pretty interesting what it does is it drags frequencies in your input to a Target frequency which you can choose here width is how far away a frequency is allowed to be from the target with a width of zero being as close as possible width bias is the intensity of the plugin so the width slider does nothing when it's at zero and it's in full effect when at [Music] one some heavy bass sound design requires some slight tonality so using this plugin can be a more interesting way to get that than just using something like an EQ Peak this plugin can also be interesting when used in conjunction with a color-based plugin like for example this pitch map colors here [Music] frequency shifter it's just a frequency shifter with a bit of a different algorithm I don't think I need to explain this one but another dissonant bell sound you can make is by taking a sine wave in serum add a bunch of random harmonics which will give you that kind of sound and if you put notes all over the frequency spectrum in just the piano roll now that already sounds pretty good and dissonant but you can go a little further with it if you just put a frequency shifter on it and Bam you can change the tone of the sound and get a bunch of different variations and once again you can just resample these morph the x-axis is the starting frequency and the y- AIS is its Target you can add points and curve them to your liking the only issue here is that there's no units so you have to use its effect by ear rather than knowing which frequencies are being shifted to where I think this is really the only plug-in where I legitimately don't know where I would use it in a project but you know it's pretty cool I've got this vocal here so I'm just going to kind of mess around with it first of all when you start playing it it's not going to make any noise but you just got to kind of adjust this one up here a little bit and Bam it's back to normal so I'm just going to mess around with this for a second the only thing I don't really like is these kind of weird curves that it makes sometimes they can kind of just get in the way a little bit might even load a base sample into this sampler here so yeah you can definitely get some really interesting sounds with this one phas lock phase lock has a few more features than its eluded title of course it has the ability to lock the phase of every frequency in your sound which is done by clicking this box but it can do the same with frequencies in your sound only playing each frequency in the phases sampled when locked and or only playing the frequencies that were present in the sampled sound the sliders designate the mix of each below those is amplitude tracking which allows effective frequencies to retain the amplitude of the frequencies in your input and random phase which randomizes the phase of input frequencies more phase and frequency has provided descriptions but I can't seem to figure those out so you'll have to do some experimentation on your own I think this plugin has quite a bit of sound design utility as it does create a very unique sound if I take this patch that I made which is you know semi complicated here it's just vital with some Randomness this Argent compressor at the end which I bought recently and then just a whole bunch of filtering and whatnot but if I just take the sound that we have now and put the phase lock on it it's going to do exactly what it sounds like and lock all of the phases of every frequency in whatever phase it was at the time and that can create some pretty weird sound variations there's also a random phase knob I already I already talked about that but you know it's there makes it sound kind of noisy to be honest then you can also lock the frequencies that are being played and of course fade between those I think a locked on something pretty interesting right now actually you can also turn on the ampl tracking I already mentioned that but you know just trying to cature something interesting [Music] there once again very interesting sound I still don't really know what this does but it sure does something signus soal shaped filter this one is just a filter that looks like a sign wave you can change the frequency of this wave as well as its phase the narrowness is basically the cue of the filter it might not look like a S Wave on an EQ but that's only because eqs are skewed to Show Low frequencies more than high I think this plugin has a pretty good audio visualization I guess you would call it on white noise at zero Hertz is going to be kind of like a band pass and then once again as you increase the frequency you get more bands and you can change the phase of this unfortunately this only goes through one band so you can't like continuously shift this up unless you put an automation or something on this and of course once again you can put this on pretty much any sound I might even try putting an
