Why I Bought the Fujifilm X100VI | How It Will Improve My Photography transcript

Hello guys and welcome back to the channel. And we're still on Holly Island. Uh the sun's up now. It's uh well and truly made an appearance today. Um that will have been the the previous video. So, if you haven't already seen that, head over. I'll leave a link in the description down below where you'll find that video cuz that yeah, it was pretty special. But [snorts] in 2020, Fuji released the X100V and it absolutely blew up on Tik Tok.

It nearly crashed the internet. It really did. In 2024, they released the X1006. Just when you think it couldn't get any better. Oh, it got better. All right. Um, trying to get your hands on one of those in 2024 was next to impossible. And if you were to get hold of one, even on pre-order, you had to wait up to a year to get your hands on it. after release they were selling on bidding bidding sites for way way over the odds.

I think there some of them were going for $25,000 maybe $3,000. The hysteria around this camera was absolutely phenomenal. It was crazy. Absolutely crazy. So, fast forward two years, 2026. I finally finally got my hands on the Fuji X1006. And in this video, I'll explain why I got this. But for now, I'm going to put you on top of the camera POV style. And let's have a little walk around Holy Island. And I will check back in with you soon with my thoughts on this camera.

Heat [music] up here. [music] >> [music] [music] >> So, why have I fell into the internet sensation trap? Why did I buy the X1006? Pretty simple really. It's the size, the ease of use, and I've been a Fuji shooter for a lot of years, so I kind of know the menu system inside out. But for me, like I say, it's the size and the weight. It's so compact. It's so small. You can just put it in a a coat pocket and off you go. call it my uh my EDC, my everyday carry, because more often than not when you're just out and about doing your daily stuff, you miss shots.

Now, yes, you have your phone and phones are brilliant this in this day and age, but to have this this amazing piece of kit on hand day in day out is going to improve my photography. I'm going to take more images. I'm going to enjoy more photography. And because it's so easy to use, so light, so nimble, it feels comfortable in the hand, it really really has sparked a a different feeling inside me for photography. It's hard to explain, but it's it's ignited the fire.

I never lost the love of photography. Every once in a while, like many of us do, we just get into a bit of a blip and we lose our creative spark. This for me, this really has, like I say, ignited that fire back in my stomach. Now, the main reason I bought it was for street photography, which I am going to do a lot more on this channel, although we are at a seascape location today. But that just shows the versatility of this camera.

It is renowned on the internet for a street photographers's camera. But the like I say the versatility that you get from it. Seascape, landscape, streets, architecture, product, portrait with a fixed lens of f2, image stabilizing and a 40 megapixel sensor all fit inside this little body. How they've managed to get all that crammed into this, I will never ever know. But by doing so, like I say, they've created an internet sensation and it just keeps blowing up week after week, week after week.

Fuji for me have completed it. They have absolutely smashed photography with this camera. [music] [music] >> [music] [music] >> So to summarize, if this camera is in your budget, I highly highly [snorts] recommend you do your best and try and invest in one because it is an investment. But what it does bring which money can't buy is that spark, that fire, and it's brought it back to me in abundance. It really has. So, uh there will be a lot more on this channel coming about this camera.
