just a few weeks ago Coca-Cola made worldwide headlines when it announced it was bottling a new taste for Coke after 99 years Coke was changing the formula that made it the international giant of the soft drink industry tonight the co awards are making headlines again as Koch announced it's bringing back the old formula with a new name it was a move that topped two of the network newscast and has old Coke lovers bubbling with excitement this is a story of big business enormous advertising and a company that found out the hard way if it ain't broke don't fix it the old Coke is coming back Coke calls this new marketing of their old Coke Coca-Cola classic but many beverage business analysts are saying it's Coke's marketing techniques that should be labeled classic Coke is so smooth that they will come out smelling like roses they will look great they will have some some brilliant reason for why they're doing this uh and and two it does point out that you know the people who have criticized him for changing the formula are saying nothing can replace coke coke coke is the best still other analysts say they're not at all surprised by the re-release of old Coke contrived uh Perhaps it is contrived it is uh in some ways probably pre-planned but whether it was a part of the original marketing scheme or just a costly option plan even industry Watchdogs find the return of old Coke an easy alternative to swallow I think Coke is responding to the outcry of an awful lot of people who are saying uh we really want uh our old friend back gay Mullins who organized the old Cola drinkers of America and planned Coke boycotts in legislation as far away as Australia says he'll drop his Coler strategies now that his freedom of choice has been restored I believe that they have hurt us and uh we have we what we did was to mobilize the consumers of uh of the Coca-Cola company and uh they were heard and they were protest was loud and clear and so Coca-Cola company has responded in a very efficient and uh and good way even the cola competition applauded the return of an old opponent the only thing would surprised me is it's taken them this long today a hand delivered statement at CO's Atlanta headquarters exclaimed everybody wins and they were right at closing the company's stock was up more than two points on Wall Street okay
