hi gamer here in this video we'll do importing of your Houdini generated City to inreal and join this will take four steps that we will see in details Step 1 Project setup and configuration Step 2 importing the city data into and real and join 5. step 3 preparing an open world level and finally step 4 running the rule processor generation finishing these steps you will have your Houdini generated City imported into unreal before going further thanks and welcome for all the newcomers to the Channel please make sure to subscribe and activate the notification button on step 1. before you can use your own cities data you generated while following our last videos on the playlist you will need first to open and set up a few things in in real enjoying 5. first open the city sample project with Enrique and join 5. in the content browser under the content City create a folder with this exact same name as the city you created in Houdini for example the sample Houdini City file we created in the last video was named ct77 therefore I named the folder I created in the content browser ct77 choose yours as my city if this is the name you've chosen I'll use anyway the name my city in the remaining of this lecture now open your name at city folder and create two new subfolders named geometry and PBC the city sample project includes the Houdini engine plugin which is already enabled from the main menu open the Houdini engine drop down menu and select create session at this point you have opened the city sample project and created folder location to import the data you generated in Houdini for your own City you have a new folder named for your city and two folders within it name it geometry and PVC step 2. importing the city data into in real enjoying 5. with your own City folders created and Houdini engine session started in the previous steps you can now import your data into in real enjoying 5. in windows open the file location where you save the origini city data in our first video of the playlist we set the folder path as the city sample project my city inside the windows my city folder open the PVC folder in Android and join use the content browser to open the City My City PBC folder select all the files in the PVC folder in Windows and drag them to the PBC folder in Arena join once the import process completes your PBC folder should look like what you see in the video with the imported Point cloud data generated by Houdini inside the windows my city folder open the export folder in a real and join use the content browser to open the City My City geometry folder select all the files in the export folder in Windows and drag them to the geometry folder in a real and join this video has been sped up to show the full import process of ct77 the tiny City I created in Houdini in our last video being imported the import process takes some time depending on the size of your city for example the cities include in the city sample project can take less than 10 minutes for the small City to import and upwards of 40 minutes for the big city to import these two statistics vary according to your PC setup as fast as your PC goes this process will be faster use the file menu to save all at this point you should see all your geometry and point cloud data files have been imported and saved as asset in the folders you created in this first step of this lecture these assets are used in the steps that follow to start generating your city step 3. preparing an open world level in this step you will create a new level from a templated city open World level this template level provides a starting point for creating your own City like the one from City sample with its own lighting and Skybox setup and blueprint spawners used to populate data using the file menu select new level choose City open world empty from the available templates and click create once the new level has been created use the file menu to save current level as save the map in the content maps folder and enter the name of your city into the text field save in the save level as window you can now have you now have a level that you can use to generate and build your city step 4 running the rule processor Generation all the data needed to start generating your city has been imported into the enjoy and you have a map with which to load and save it in this step you'll use the rules processor of the city and freeway Point cloud data you import it into the engine the rules processor Maps the generated Point cloud data from Houdini engine to rules.tell and really enjoying how to use that data to populate the word first from the main menu use window rule processor to open rule processity this opens the window where the files you generated in Houdini will be used to generate the city in any real engine in the rule processor City window replies the point Cloud columns signed asset with ones of the same name from the city your name City PBC folder in the rule processor City window click run rules to process your imported City file a pop-up window asks you to confirm the processing when ready click ok the time it takes to generate your city can vary based on the size of your city and your PC setup it can take 15 minutes to an hour or more to finish processing in a decent machine repeat the process for the freeway PVC files located in the PBC folder from the main menu use window rule processor to open role processor freeway replace the point Cloud columns assets with the ones of the same name from the city your name City PVC in the rule processor freeway window click run rules to process your imported freeway files a pop-up menu asks you to confirm the processing when ready click OK finally in the word partition panel left click and drag to select the cells in the word partition map right click and select load selected cells using the raw processor of the city and freeway Point cloud data provides and really enjoin with the information to generate your city-based onsets of rules this lets the enjoy plus the assets to build out the seat once the rule processor has completed processing the data the city can be loaded into the level viewport using the word partition editor once loaded you can finally flow out and inspect your city congratulations you finally have your own City in unreal and join this is it okay this is probably the last video in the playlist unfortunately my current specs makes it really painful to go further in experimentation about the city generation and I will probably also take a break from the channel for the next month this is of course not a definitive leave as I'm waiting for a better specs PC hopefully by the end of the month to make better videos about level design in Houdini and in ring join my two preferred 3D software so feel free to re-watch all the videos in the playlist as well as my other playlists and don't forget to subscribe to the channel as I'm always preparing some interesting content if you liked it hit the like button spread the word about my work and feel free to contact me in the comment section about the issues you found I'll try to help as soon as possible with my Buzzy schedule thanks and see you hopefully soon foreign
