you. So, I'm going to show you some examples. Now, speaking of this here, it makes the lighting look a little bit more 3D in a sense. It has a 3D glow around it. And you can change a few things to make it. You can really mess around with properties all you want. And there are some things you should or

first we are going to make this abandoned looking Hospital hallway go from scary to terrifying of course that's an exaggeration but it'll definitely have a major difference I promise as I mentioned earlier Kum actually going to have to select each light one by one I will make sure

do you want to be better at building but tutorials are not working well here these are five quick tips and tricks to instantly be a pro at building but first a disclaimer they don't exist but don't click off yet there really are five quick tips to get better at building but they are not what you'd expect as you can see we are back in this map and there are some slight changes like the bridge and this waterfall but that is not what we are covering this episode most of the tips in this video won't even be about Roblox Studio itself but some will so don't click off yet such as learning composition key binds and how to change your Roblox Graphics as well as where to find good cocktails wrong script something I hardly hear people explain is how composition affects your work and gameplay as composition is simply how you arrange things and how you have your camera set for still images keep in mind your composition is considered things like where the player will be viewing points of interest and I'd love to see developers have a better understanding on composition sorry rig you must die but we will replace you for our first example of composition and to start off this video we will talk about this bridge and how the items around it in case the scene a big point of composition is actually about where your camera is pointed you should always treat showcasing your work like a render let's take a look at some other work of developers like floor light sorry the AI might not pronounce the name correctly we we are actually going to go kind of in depth here so listen carefully this might look confusing at first so let me break it down a bit for you this will have four primary points such as point a which will serve as our indicator for the straight mark this shows us the 90° facing camera angle which allows us to identify Point C the camera viewing point this effectively makes a 3/4 camera angle facing the left side this is called 3/4 because we are slightly on the side diagonal 45° compared to a profile and frontal shot we can now introduce point B which stands as a sun point this one is pretty self-explanatory as it shows where the sun comes from and lastly we can introduce Point D which is the focal point meaning this is where you will mostly be looking as it is the center of the image now that we've briefly discussed composition how would you Analyze This scene what would be the focal point just kidding let's move on let's talk about bad comp position such as if we wanted to take a photo of this bridge we wouldn't want to do it from up here this is a better approach however if you take shots too far away You're overexposing your scene in the sense that you are no longer capturing a focal point you are just taking a Mindless screenshot you would be much better suited going a bit closer and using a composition technique called framing where you turn the environment around your screenshot into the photo frame here we are using rule of third slightly this might even be a bit too low angle so you want to lift your camera up a bit to give it a straighter more symmetrical look here you can see how rule of thirds can be applied to this scene where the tree and house in the background follow the vertical sections on the side leaving the Horizon to be lead by the bridge and giving us empty space also known as Dead Space rule of thirds has a general quote unquote trick behind it I bet you looked in the top left corner this is because the most prominent feature is there and it is a focal point making it a go to spot for your eyes my grd overlay is kind of scuffed so if you didn't look up there a blame it on that I urge you to not take my words as finality and do your own research on these things here we have got another section this Forest intersection has a lot going on and it's clear to see where the focal point is and for a rended style screenshot you might think to bring it down low but that's really not the most optimal idea here in my case we are overexposing our scene allowing background items to bleed into the frame this is poor frame retention having no clear outline of environment onment things instantly change once we bring it up to a higher point and you can frame your shot a lot easier and have better control over your scene as for here it follows the same rules for Roblox composition and screenshotting really use your head specifically your eyes not your brain if it looks good it most likely technically is good don't skimp out on your presentation it is quite literally the most important part of your build and with that I have taught you the basics of composition and and screenshotting images within Roblox Studio however there are many many more examples of compositional tones online and I can only fit so many here so please attempt to educate yourself with those and if you are bad at Googling just search up photo composition examples and I know you will forget so do it right now or else this next part is kind of different and there won't be much moving so you can close your eyes and imagine a scene here but a massive part of making a good art form such as Roblox builds or any environment Al design it's always and I reiterate always important to have a healthy and calming workspace put on some calming music or even blast loud music if it fits your style get in the zone make yourself have an enjoyable work space wait till it's dark and calm or sit in a social space it's important to take breaks as a builder I understand that you feel like it can ruin your flow or you might forget your ideas so write them down and if you feel like your ideas will change good there's a reason you're taking this break and nine times out of 10 it's because your idea was out of your reach don't feel afraid to build something out of your comfort zone but always remember to recheck if it's too far when looking at a reference you want to form it into basic shapes in this build there's a lot going on and if you can view it in basic shapes it gets so much easier but first these textures are kind of in the way let's remove them remember that naming Your Parts correctly also allows for you to search for them and change them much much easier [Music] now we can view all the shapes a bit easier let's take a look at this pillar column my Bloom is too high whoops [Music] okay let's break this down into much easier shapes to digest here you can use wedges to create more complex shapes holes and structures as you can see the second I select them this becomes much more apparent what it is you can use Roblox rig head meshes to get unique shapes get them off the toolbox don't kill rigs [Music] here this back part is literally just six parts it's a bit of a different story down here as they aren't as easy to dissect however when making grates or vent holes with parts firstly I just recommend that you don't use a PBR decal besides that you want the x lines to be higher than the Y lines in this case the X line is the longest we've now gone over over two of the five tips to make you instantly better at building such as composition looking at detailed builds as blocks but let's talk about something that really sets in stone the definition between being good and bad let's bring back the trusty old key viewer this is because for our third tip we will briefly be going over the movement keybinds however I was recording this at 4:00 a.m. so forgive me but I forgot a lot please do go and read the online document from the Roblox Dev Forum I'll link it below for our first key bind you can press contrl D to duplicate you can hold control while selecting to click multiple parts and press controller to quickly rotate parts and contrl T to turn them vertically you can press control Zed to undo an action and contrl Y to redo an action the more you learn these key binds the faster you can be at building keep in mind I forget to go over some key binds in this video such as pressing 1 to four for Tool key binds and that holding shift and using the scroll wheel changes your camera speed here I am showing off the local and World access keybind this is contrl L it can also be toggled by right clicking the part and pressing local a world here you can see it in effect the local pivot will change change the movement to correspond with the parts orientation in this case 45 but World pivot will change it at the base 90° XY Z [Music] AIS let me show you a magic trick while it's gone this is done by pressing CR X this cuts the selection and puts it onto your clipboard from there you can press contrl P to reedit you can press crl C to copy and contrl V to paste if you want to select something but it's covered by a part you can press shift while dragging to use the select tool no matter what you can see here if I want to select something it keeps clicking the particle box I have but if I hold shift it negates that and allows me to use the select drag keybinds are important to learn as they help you get faster at building and make things more efficiently so far we can count up to four tips I've provided composition how to stay motivated treat Roblox building like an art form and take your time as well as looking at full builds in smaller shapes next up I will discuss simply how to make Roblox Studio look really good your studio tab might look something like this and if so you are not the only person this is the default lighting graphics on Roblox I'm not going to explain every single change in Roblox lighting however having a very low Graphics preset will automatically set you to voxal lighting and textures only render in 720p almost every single lighting feature is disabled we can open the settings tab by pressing alt s and then changing the studio editor quality in the render tab to 21 keep in mind this is only good for higher and PCs if you have a bad PC you should be turning this up when taking photos or presenting your work in realizing now the key viewer is blocking the view what I just did there was change the lighting technology in lighting properties to Future this greatly improves lighting quality here is a quick Showcase of the difference between level 1 and level 21 Graphics [Music] quality that has been five tips to instantly get better at building however not how you might have assumed they'd be these tips are definitely a sure way to get better and every other tutorial will give you bad advice like follow this course or whatnot but I'm here to encourage you to do your own research help you find the ways to make good things and I won't hand you the answers on a silver platter something else I would like to mention is coloring you want your colors to fit well and not have too much of a contrast which makes it harder to look at this is a form of composition I hope you enjoyed this video and learned something thank you [Music]
