Breaking news, a major shootout erupts prompting police to lock down the surrounding blocks. Witnesses say Valenti family boss died in the gunfire. Residents are urged to avoid the area. >> Drive. >> No. My car's flooded, it won't start. >> Less talk, drive. >> See, I'm not lying. >> [sighs] >> Then I'll need your cooperation, prosecutor. >> Dante Valenti can't be far. Search the right side. >> You are Dante Valenti? >> [ __ ] let's go. >> [gasps] >> They're gone.

You can leave now. Mind giving me a ride, prosecutor? >> [gasps] >> Prosecutor Hayes, aren't you coming in? I promise I'll take very good care of you. Get me everything on this prosecutor Hayes. >> He caught your eye, boss? >> I'd call it love at first sight. >> Darling fiance, I'm out drinking with friends. I might be home a little late. Don't wait up. >> When are you calling off your wedding with Elliot? >> Soon. >> PROSECUTOR, HEY!

You ruined me. I'LL TEAR YOU APART! >> [screaming] >> MORNING, PROSECUTOR. >> WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE? >> Isn't that Dante Valenti? >> The don of the Valenti family? Why is he handing dirty money to Prosecutor Hayes? >> What do you mean? >> This is to thank you for saving my life yesterday. Just a small token. >> You should know that bribing a federal prosecutor is a federal felony. Under Section 201B of Title 18 of the United States Code, the offense carries up to 15 years in federal prison, a $250,000 fine, or three times the bribe amount.

So, you'd better take your dirty money and get lost before I press charges against you. >> This is my office. Please leave. >> You left something on me, Prosecutor. >> I don't know what you're implying. I couldn't have left anything on you. Stop harassing me and leave immediately. >> Your ID badge, Prosecutor. Thought you might want it back. >> Thank you for returning my ID badge, Mr. Valenti, but you're the don of a crime family and I'm a prosecutor.

I'd appreciate it if you kept your distance. Please get out of my office. In that case, I'll decide for you. Just wanted to say thank you. I have a fiance and we're getting married soon. Cut out your nonsense. Getting married to her? You investigated me? I'm warning you, stay away from her or I'll make sure you spend the rest of your life behind bars. Look over there. Seems like your fiance has other plans. You bastard.

You're so much more fun. Elliot's boring, broke. I don't even want him touching. Then let's go back to my place. Elliot? What are you doing here? Elliot, listen to me. I asked Gavin to help pick a restaurant. I just wanted to surprise you. Don't bother. I'll call the church and call off the wedding. Elliot! How could you do this? Don't you trust me? I trust my own eyes. >> Don't follow me. Get lost. >> Anyway, what you did back there was pretty impressive, clean and decisive. >> [snorts] >> She doesn't deserve you.

But I I know how to take care of you. >> I'm straight. >> How would you know if you've never tried? >> Fine. Just stay away from me. >> Trust me, you don't want to find out what happens if you keep refusing me. >> What the hell did you bring me here for? >> I've got something to show you. Might help you figure out what you really want. That's the man I set my sights on. What a hit. Listen carefully. I've officially opened an investigation into the Valenti family's arms smuggling operation. >> Are you threatening me? >> It's a warning.

Show up in front of me like this again and I'll personally seek a warrant for your arrest for obstruction of justice. >> Keep your distance, Valenti. >> Boss, should I have someone bring him back? >> No. He called off his wedding. Which means the place beside him at the altar is mine. >> Prosecutor Hayes, your coffee. >> I didn't order it. Never mind, just leave it on the desk. >> Wasting coffee is a bad habit. >> So is wasting your life. >> [snorts] >> [ __ ] Why the hell did I dream about him? >> Elliot, this is all my fault, but please come to the church.

Let's just go through with the wedding, even if it's just for my grandmother's sake. She doesn't have much time left. I'm begging you. >> That way he'll know I'm straight and drop those stupid ideas. Fine. But it ends at the wedding. After that, there's nothing between us. You won't be my wife. I won't be your husband. >> Thank you, Elliot. >> After tomorrow, he'll be the laughing stock of the whole town. >> Mr. Hayes, should we wait for the bride? >> Give her a little longer. >> It's been an hour.

Is the bride even coming? >> Oh my god. is that the bride? >> Looks like your bride isn't coming. Dressing up won't change anything. Your fiance doesn't give a damn about marrying you. She's busy screwing another man right now. >> What? Mad because nobody wants you? >> [singing] >> Who said nobody wants me? I am here to pick up my bride. I warned you. Dear prosecutor, mad that I'm late? What are you here for? Get out. >> I'm sorry, but the wedding is off.

Please leave. >> Let them go. Bride isn't coming. >> I wouldn't mind letting them stay for our wedding. >> Fine, you can go. >> Father, begin the vows. >> Mr. Mr. >> Valenti. Dante Valenti. >> Mr. Hayes, do you take Mr. Valenti to be your lawful wedded husband? >> Or I'll be your bride. I don't care about the title. Wearing contacts without the glasses. Hold your fire. This heart can beat for you, or it can stop for you.

Did you really think I wouldn't pull the trigger? I admit I'm surprised. I thought our high and mighty prosecutor was all about due process. Never thought you'd take the law into your own hands. Stay away from me. Next time, I won't miss your heart. Want to know who the guy in those photos is? Me. Now I get it. You're not useless. You're just on the wrong You son of a You dare hit me? So I fight me over a woman? Shut your mouth.

You >> Oh, [screaming] [ __ ] >> Hang in there. >> Still breathing. >> Tough as ever, huh, prosecutor? >> [screaming] >> Elliot, I was wrong. I ran my mouth. Please, let me go. >> Enough, Dante. He almost got you killed. You still want to play saint? >> I'm not playing saint. I'm a prosecutor. He'll be charged, tried, and sentenced, not killed by you. >> DANTE VALORI, YOU DIE TONIGHT. >> MOVE. YOU'RE HIT. >> [sighs and gasps] >> Worried about me?

You're hit. Worried about me? Don't flatter yourself. Relax. I'm not dead yet. Ouch. That's rough. Trying to kill your future husband? >> Say one more word and I'll break your neck. >> I wasn't joking. >> What are you talking about? >> When I said I wanted to marry you I meant it. >> Boss. Area's clear. Are you >> Get out of my way. Get out of my way. >> Runs fast, doesn't he? >> When I said I wanted to marry you, I meant it. >> Psycho. >> Miss me, prosecutor? >> Who let you in?

Get out. >> I'm here to request protection from the DA. >> Get your head checked. The DA's office won't protect a mafia don. >> Patience. You'll find out soon enough. >> Elliot. >> Chief, sorry. I was just about to have this lunatic removed. >> I'm here to inform you that the higher-ups have approved Mr. Balani's protection request. You've been assigned as his sole liaison. >> Welcome home, my liaison. >> Listen carefully.

Since I'm stuck with you, we do this my way. >> Let's hear it. >> First, keep your distance. Second, don't touch my things. >> What if I do? >> I'll break your other arm. Third, don't cross the line. >> Then can my liaison change my bandage? >> I'm not a doctor. Do it yourself. >> [clears throat] >> You really are ruthless, prosecutor. >> Clear-headed now? >> Crystal. >> Try that again and I'll break your hand. >> [singing] >> There's only one bedroom here, you know. >> My job is keeping you alive, not comfortable.

Sleep wherever you want. I don't give a damn. >> [singing] >> Night, my prosecutor. >> Morning, prosecutor. Looks like you slept well. >> This is insane. >> My job as your liaison is over. I'm not living with a criminal. >> Elliot. The Rossi family found the safe house. Evacuate with Balani immediately. >> Prosecutor, looks like you're coming with me. Good. >> [sighs] >> It's only the third floor. Hold on tight. >> [sighs and gasps] >> Boss, I'm sorry I'm late.

Back to the Volante estate. Now. Done. Prosecutor Hayes doesn't have any external injuries. It's just a mild concussion caused by the fall. Get some good rest and he'll be fine. Boss. We caught Poly Rossi, the head of the Rossi family. Take him to the basement. I'll skin him alive myself. >> Is this where the T's home? >> Call the DA's office. >> Boss, this violates Omerta. Mafia business should always stay within the mafia.

We don't involve the police. The commission will never agree with this. >> This is my command. Prosecutor, I did what you asked. For you, I betrayed the code of Omerta that the Italian mafia has upheld for 300 years. So, what are you going to give me in return? >> What? Dante handed Rossi's boss over to the feds FOR SOME MALE COP? HE'S DRAGGING THE VALENTI name through the mud, breaking the code of silence, AND NOBODY STOPPED HIM? >> He's the Don.

Who's going to question him? Round up the commission. I'm dealing with Dante myself. >> Right away. >> Dante Valenti, this time I'll drag you down from the Godfather's throne. >> Rossi's boss is in custody. The threat is neutralized. I'm leaving. >> I gave up a Don for you. The least you can do is stick around and make it worth my while. >> I have no obligation to stay. The threat is neutralized. My assignment here is complete.

I will contact the prosecutor's office and revoke your protection order. Letting you go would be bad business. I expect to return. I truly like you. >> Did you just say Uncle Vincenzo demands that you report to the If not, he wants you to hand over the prosecutor. >> That old ba- Keep the prosecutor safe. Anyone who lays a hand on him, I'll have them torn apart. >> You're letting me go? >> Don't get the wrong idea. I just hate seeing the Eastern District's golden boy played for a fool by my cousin. >> What do you mean? >> The commission's voting.

Your life for Dante's seat. >> You really think he'd trade his you. >> Lead the way. >> Where are you going? >> I want to hear for myself what kind of man the Valenti Don really is. >> KILL HIM NOW! THEN PIN THE PROSECUTOR'S MURDER ON ROSSI. >> YOU ACTUALLY wanted Prosecutor Hayes dead? >> It's the only way to keep the Valenti name clean. No one can use omerta against us if the prosecutor's already dead. To keep Elliot alive, I need these old bastards to think I'm playing >> [laughter] >> Are you all really this stupid? >> He's the Eastern District DA office golden boy. >> If it means securing a valuable piece like Prosecutor Hayes, sacrificing Rossi is a small price to pay. >> A piece?

So, that's his game. Did you hear that, Prosecutor? This is the mafia. He just sees you as a tool. >> What do you want from me? >> Kill him. And you'll walk free. Kill Dante? I truly like you. Or did you miss me already? After just a few minutes. Done with the act? Acting? Why don't you tell me? What is in your hand? >> Boss, I brought Prosecutor Hayes. Thought the elders might want a word. >> Piss off. >> Have me kill you, the Volante Godfather?

I'm not that foolish. >> Get some men. Keep my prosecutor safe. >> The boss sent this for you. >> A gift for your lonely night. >> This Expect to be charged. Oops, my apologies. Sweet dreams my prosecutor. >> Prosecutor Hayes, something happened to Dante. >> Dante? >> Prosecutor Hayes, the boss took two bullets. He's bleeding out. He ain't going to make it. PLEASE COME SEE HIM ONE LAST TIME. >> I'll get changed. Wait for me downstairs. >> The number you are calling is unavailable. >> Could something really happen to Dante?

This is my location. I hope you're all right. This late? What could you possibly want my dear uncle? You'll stay here tonight. Once that prosecutor is dead, I'll let you go. You'll stay here tonight. Once that prosecutor is dead, I'll let you out. You really think this will work? The guards you sent to protect the prosecutor are already dead. Being taken to be executed. If a single hair on my prosecutor is harmed, you're all dead.

Dear uncle, you didn't think I'd be completely unprepared, did you? Even so, you won't be able to save that trouble-making prosecutor. >> Boss, perimeter is clear. But the guards protecting the prosecutor are dead. Elliot's been taken. >> Hello there, Prosecutor Hayes. >> Where's Dante? >> Don't worry. He's still alive, for now. Your own death is staring you in the face, and you're still worried about him? Looks like our high-and-mighty prosecutor really has fallen for him. >> Lock these old men in the dungeon.

I'll deal with them when I get back. >> [gasps] >> Boss, don't go in there alone. NO TIME. MOVE. ELLIOT, wait for me. >> Still trying to play Don't worry. He's still alive, for now. Your own death is staring you in the face, and you're still worried about him? Looks like our high-and-mighty prosecutor really has fallen for him. >> I'm just doing my duty. As his official liaison, I need to confirm whether he's alive or dead. >> Official liaison?

You reek of his cologne. >> Who's Dante's suit? >> What, you didn't notice? I don't know why you're still denying it. I hear Dante's coming in alone. Tell me, what do you think his face will look like when he watches you get turned into minced meat? >> [screaming] >> LET HIM DOWN. >> GET OUT OF HERE. >> STAY WHERE YOU ARE OR I'LL TWIST the prosecutor into mincemeat. >> YOU DARE? >> DON'T MIND ME. >> YOU TWO ARE REALLY CLOSE, aren't you?

Fine. Hand over the Don's seat. Between the Don's chair and Elliot, I'll choose Elliot every time. >> You said it. >> Let him down. >> [sighs and gasps] >> Don't die on me. I'm I'm warning you. >> Don't leave an empty. My prosecutor is really worried about me now. >> Stay focused. We're getting out of here alive. Cover me. >> GET IN THE CAR! [screaming] >> [sighs and gasps] >> STUNNED. >> Kill them both. >> That's surprising.

Didn't expect a prosecutor to drive so well. >> Shut up. Save your strength. I'm getting you to the hospital. >> Hold on! >> [gasps] >> We make a perfect team. >> DOCTOR! DOCTOR! [screaming] SOMEBODY! HELP! >> [gasps] [panting and sighs] >> PROSECUTOR HAYES, HOW'S the boss? Where were you? How could you leave him to face that alone? Do you even know how many bullets he took? I'm sorry. I was dealing with traitors in the council chamber.

I came too late. If he dies, you all die with him. I'm sorry. He lost too much blood. We did everything we could. What are you doing? Prosecutor Hayes, the boss is dead. WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? HE WAS SPEAKING TO ME IN THE CAR. HE CAN'T BE DEAD. PROSECUTOR HAYES, THE boss wanted us to deliver this to your office tomorrow. So, we're giving it to you now. D E Dante and Elliot, right? Boss said you got the wrong idea.

Thought you were just a pawn in his game for the East District. That you were still pissed at him. But that was a lie. He had no choice. He said it to stop the elders from killing you. I followed him for 10 years. Never once saw him love anyone. But for you, he gave up everything. And in the end, he lost his life. Dante Valenti, you damn liar. Dante Valenti, didn't you always want to try this with me? If you open your eyes, I'll marry you.

Okay? >> [snorts] >> He's breathing. Quick, prepare resuscitation. >> [laughter] [gasps] >> Save him. You have TO KEEP HIM ALIVE. PLEASE. >> Charge the defibrillator. CLEAR. IT'S A MIRACLE. A MEDICAL MIRACLE. He's alive. >> Prosecutor Hayes, Mr. Valenti has been in a coma for a full month. If he still doesn't wake up, he might never wake up. >> I see. I've taken a leave of absence from the prosecutor's office. I put you in danger.

I'll stay here. I'll wait until you wake up. >> Huh? You said you'd marry me. >> Boss, Vincenzo and Marco have been dealt with according to family rules. All remaining remnants of the old East District factions have also been completely wiped out. My dear prosecutor, I really do want to go legit. Will you help me? >> Why would you give up all those lucrative underground businesses? >> So I can stand in the light legally and stand right beside you.

Don't carry everything on your own anymore. Whatever happens, you have to tell me. If the prosecutor cares about me that much, can I have a little taste first? >> Uh he's awake, but he's No >> Long controversial East District powerhouse, the Valachi family, has fully legalized its empire, marking the end of the mafia era in the East District. I formally submitted my resignation to the DA's office. Starting today, I'm your chief legal advisor. >> Chief legal advisor?

And my spouse? >> Behave. [clears throat] >> You walked away from the underworld, and now every crime family's got eyes on you. I'm worried about you. >> Don't worry, with you here, I'll be fine. >> You may now kiss each other. >> I told you. This heart of mine can beat for you or stop for you. >> So can mine. >> [singing]
