Opening (first 30 seconds)
[Music] Grow a garden has been blowing up recently with over 1.5 million players, and I myself have been playing it. So, I wondered how well I can remake this game with as little time as possible. But first, I need a plan. So, I wrote down all the main things that I needed to do. So, let's get started with our one. First, I went in the game and looked at how everything looks, like the shops, the plots, and the whole map.

And then I made my own version of it. There was also the frame for the soil where you could plant the crops and each player would have this sign on their plot which would show their name. And I added the surface GUI with a text box to show your name. Now that I basically had a complete plot, I duplicated them and put six of them just like in the actual game. And that's pretty much it for the plots. Now I had to work on the shops.
I started with the seed shop which used like a blue and white color and of course I had to put my avatar as the shopkeeper and then I did the same thing for the selling shop and just recolored it as well as putting these signs. Now let's move on to our two. So the game had these three buttons at the top that allowed you to teleport. And I kind of made them just by taking a screenshot of the floor. Yeah, it's kind of a lazy way, but it worked.
And they looked kind of similar. But now I had to actually make them work. So I got to some intense scripting and now you could teleport to each place just by clicking on the buttons. Now the garden button didn't work yet because there wasn't a plot assigning system. So that's what I worked on next. And when I joined a two-player server, if you look in the output, it shows that each player has been assigned their own plot.
And the sign also changes based on the player's name. Now, as for the crops, I decided to make these five cuz it was going to take time to make all of them. I began by doing the carrot model, and I just made it in Roblox because it was fairly simple. I then made the blueberry one, the watermelon, bamboo, and finally the eggplant. I then made a seed for each one just by putting a block which was colored the same thing.
But now I needed a way to make it so you can get the seeds. I added dialogue for the shopkeeper and I made the UI of the shop once again by taking a screenshot of a wall and this is what it looks like. I then had to make a frame for each crop to show that you can buy it. So this is what the carrot seed looked like and there was also the timer for the shop reset. After some scripting, this is what it looks like. So every 5 minutes the shop is supposed to reset.
I then added a scrolling frame and duplicated the carrot seed UI for all the crops. And then I renamed them and changed all the prices. And I just realized after editing that I forgot to change the buy button price, but that's fine. Next, I used viewport frames to put seeds in each of the images. And when you hovered over each one, it would spin. And now let's move on to our I have no idea. Let's just say it's three to four.
My friend Arc helped me make a growing system. So you should go subscribe to him. And while he was doing that, I made the inventory system, which just used the Roblox one. And now when you go to the shopkeeper and talk to him, you could actually buy stuff. Or at least it's supposed to work. After some debugging, you could now buy as many carrot seeds as you want. And after the shop resets in 3 seconds, the stock would be set to a random amount depending on the crop.
So for carrots, it would be a high amount most of the time. Now that you could buy seeds, it was time to make it so you can actually grow them. So I gave each soil block a tag and I made this indicator for whenever you hovered your mouse over the soil. I did some scripting and now it shows where your mouse is. And I also made it only work on your plot, so you couldn't plant stuff in other people's places. And with Arc's growing system, it now pretty much worked.
And obviously, I sped it up just for the purpose of this video. Next was the rarity system so we could have gold and rainbow things. And it sort of worked, but I had some bug fixing to do. And I got a huge golden carrot. I wish I had this in game. And then there was also the rainbow variant, which constantly changed color, of course. Now I had to make it so when the crop was done growing, a prompt would show up and you could actually pick it up. and it sort of worked.
I forgot to weld it. So, I kind of got distracted by the actual game for this new animal update. But then I got back to scripting and it finally worked. You could hold this stuff and if you go to the selling place, you should be able to sell them or not. After getting distracted by the game once again, I went back to studio and I decided to add the other crops. So, here's what the bamboo looked like. And this is a huge one.
And hopefully I can pick it up properly. And yeah, it looks like it works completely fine. Anyways, I added the melon and now you could pick all of them up and you could actually sell them. So, I got 2 million coins here. Now I realized that the last two crops were infinitely regrowable. So they needed a new system. Now when the bush grows, it infinitely produces blueberries and you could collect them and sell them. Well, it was supposed to work.
Anyways, now you could also buy the eggplant seeds. And if I go to my garden and I try to plant it, that is also supposed to work. As you can see, I had a lot of bugs, but after spending some time, it finally worked. And if we wait, the eggplants should spawn. Yeah, I know they fall, but I suffered while making this.
