I hope you don't mind if we have a little bit of a chitchat about Pokemon well someone who isn't normally to complain and just crack on with the world I have a lot of controversy about Pokémon and well most of the switch titles now hold up all I've ever done on my side hustle let's say is play Pokemon on the Nintendo switch from playing as Champions and reds to becoming the best cat and dog and other animal trainers and even defea my first ever Nuzlocke with the help a friend but I'm sorry I'm either nostalgic or I'm getting really old so let's just dive down into my brain and just digest just as why those games are no longer fitting the Bild for me while the Pokémon franchise has been a source of joy for Generations the switch era has seen a decline in quality Innovation and overall player experience I mean there are definitely positive such as the charm in let's go the open worlds in Legends archus an amazing multiplay player experiences in the Dynamax Adventures for sword and shield but over the past few years these future titles that were're so excited about just leads to disappointment and frustration and believe me when I say it some of the biggest games tend to be the worst ones so in this video prepared to dive deep into the disappointing world of Pokémon the switch era we dissect the flaws the missed opportunities and the broken promises now bear in mind this is just my own opinion so let me know Down Below in the comments on what you guys think and also just for clarity I'm not going to go over some of the games like Cafe remix Quest and Pokémon unite mainly because they're all games for the mobile and well I'm not going to count them just because for that they're just switch ports at the end of the day with that all said let's dive into the very first Pokémon game let's go Pikachu we need these two beloved games take the new generation of players back in time to red and blue but has the quality of life improvements and th makes the original games worse off I'm not saying that's traditionally a bad thing though let's not forget they were the first ever Pokémon games to ever come out and see to our eyes now obviously the remakes had that quality of life Improvement but the battle mechanics didn't get fixed until Generation 4 so this game technically plays better overall I mean let's take Flareon for example it has an incredible attack stat at 130 and while it's still not great now it was absolutely horrendous due to the fact that fire was special up until Generation 3 Let's Go gave Pokemon Yellow not only a fresh liquor paint but a full white wash stripped back and Polished over Ryan where are you going with this I thought you said these are bad well if I'm honest this is the Pokémon game that actually brought me back to the series I wasn't so Keen at the time of Pokémon X and Y never played Generation 7 which I'm going to soon so if you want to see that hit the Subscribe button while you're there and just look at this graph I know it's stff that I'm having to show you guys I find it cringy but when I talk about it it does help so if you do want to support the channel do me a favor but back to let's go and I frankly had no ISS shoes at the moment it was great experiencing Kanto for the very first time I was too young to actually experience generation one I wasn't even around and Generation 3 I didn't have a Nintendo Game Boy or an advance okay my first game was Platinum for the DSi okay despite this I do have a couple of issues with the game but the main thing is it's just too easy your starters either Pikachu or Eevee are a lot stronger than the normal encounters but also have exclusive moves too Zippy zap being an electric quick attack which also crates an eeve set can be completely broken with either status or health regen and every move being 90 damage and 100% hit accuracy that is insane but hey I guess they're more usable than Fat Pikachu from Pokemon Yellow I miss Fat Pikachu you're still only limited to the original 151 Pokémon which I don't like personally in any po Pokémon game however these ones have the addition of Mega Evolutions but again you don't need to because this game is a breeze to get through Charming you're not challenging minor little things including some parts of the world I'm me this area with all the fencing looks weird but in terms of scaling works well and is somewhat accurate to the one toone square tiles from previous generations the story although nostalgic doesn't seem right having older versions of red and blue while still playing out their events again and the wild encounter battles swapped out for the catching mechanics from go were as Cluny as anything well the title obviously suggests this and well I can't blame them for that because Pokémon go at the time was the biggest thing going but I think my biggest pet peeve of them all for these generation of the games was actually trying to complete the Pokedex for one specific Pokémon Mew yes you were able to buy the Pokeball accessory for 50 quids and that's even if you got it I've seen them on eBay for 50 Quid and you don't even get them they used it now hold up I hate things that are behind pay walls anyway other then DLC but come on just to complete a Pokedex for your collection nah I'm not having that but that's about it I really don't have anything much to say for Pokémon let's go it's cute Charming brought in nice features for the future of Pokémon remember that for later but for now let's move on to the next Pokémon game sword and shield this generation of Pokémon I have spent a whole lot of time on and I mean a lot I spent most of my time working on my RX8 at the time and during my breaks I actually climbed up to the master tier Rank 2 with a light ball Pikachu I mean for me that was a pretty big achievement and yes the were improvements and new features such as separate TMS and TRS TRS being onetime use and TMS were unlimited some people like it I don't mind it some people don't like it it just comes down to you know how much do you want to grind but to be honest in this game grinding is actually fun as well as the roton bite games for whats to buy even more items and easy friendship grinds by making cor's at camps and building a deck specifically for that but from the launch there are a couple of lack losting issues that we just need to have a conversation about this was the first generation of Pokémon that actually limited the national decks down to 400 I mean going from you know 700 800 Pokemon to just half that was a bit of a shame yes I know the DLC sort of expanded on that and well that's another issue as a whole but there was just no option for a national decks like I think that's just a gimmick thing for all of Pokémon and to not get that is a bit of a shame it's something a lot of collectors love to do especially the shiny Hunters another major thing that really ticks me off is the story and I'm not even going to go through the post game I mean who the heck are swordward and shield but it's one of the worst written parts of Pokémon history I cringe when I see these two geers from poly RIS car is a God awful script a professor that's pretty much non-existent and has basically no interpretation in the player's journey I know we have Sonia as sort of like the middle ground as Magnolia goes through a retirement but I'm not going to count that with very little backstory and there's without a doubt not a single character I can develop a connection with well OB and Sonia if you uh catch my drift on top of that this is the first legendary Pokémon box set which is in the post game the entire game you literally learn about the history and the mythology of these two legendary beasts and you cannot use them at all in your playthrough and like I said the post game non-existent makes me cringe I wouldn't even want to go back to it even if you paid me overall there's just such a lack of creativity and input into this game most of the wild area was super blond and not much to it though a nice idea and would then develop into the overworlds of Pokémon we know today but as it was the environment's just lacked I mean at the end of the day it was just a field but I guess gar is set in the UK and as you can tell I'm British and well that's all we get nothing but Fields they would fix this with the first ever Pokémon DLC the idle of armor and then the crown Tundra now I actually don't have an issue personally with the DLC I just don't like the fact that once again is behind the pay wall whereas they fixed a lot of issues but they do add quite a bit more story to it which is actually quite good yes the character development is still pretty poor with either claraa for sword and Avery and shield as your new rival and yep there's still no development it's not like I don't like him because he does bad things and he picks on you he intimidates us but it's just executed badly mustard was a character I actually liked ground hundra very similar thing p is very enthusiastic but also a little bit annoying the second DLC I enjoyed more the story was written a little bit better but one thing for certain that I enjoyed the most was Dynamax Adventures this was the best multiplayer experience I've ever had on Pokemon period I mean the Dynamax forms the moves the dens were brilliant enough as it is and the DLC just added on to that with not only new terrains but also that multiplayer experience to get more legendaries I love this game mode it's so memorable for me despite repetitive I able to team up with three of my friends and Hunt legendaries together and the shiny yards on this is so good I can literally go on forever about this game mode but despite all of the issues with Generation 8 I actually could considered this to be one of my favorite Generations in Pokémon and that is solely due to the multiplayer experience yes I know this introduced a load of hacking but also just playing with friends the Dynamax in was awesome and included battle strategy which works and other than the story in the blandness I could fault this game whatsoever but this is where it would stop there or at least for the mainline game because I want to briefly talk about the next game Pokemon Mystery Dungeon the original once again I have never played although I did play explorers of Sky and I teared at that when I was little so to play Rescue Team DX is a whole new experience for me but normally you do a quiz from the GetGo answer them solely and truthfully which let's be honest who did and potentially get roasted with the starter you get given however now you aren't forced you could you can choose the starter you want but you still have to do the quiz now you may think what's the point and yes I agree but it actually also determines your nature which actually has a nice little hidden touch so if you didn't like Skitty I mean who wants to be Skitty anyways me oh so I was an Eevee and my partner was Pikachu I mean yes I may be boring but I cannot fault the typ in and move poles here any who this game from start to finish has again that huge quality of life upgrade and for those like myself who haven't playing Mystery Dungeon one what are you doing with your life and two because believe it or not this is one of the best stories I've ever seen I know it's been out for a very long time I'm not going to spoil it still and plus I am still playing through it myself cuz I haven't played that much of it but for what I've played so far I'm loving it I really don't have anything negative to say about this one then you have the new despite it coming out three years ago new Pokémon Snap compared to the first game 25 years ago obviously it has that huge Graphics Improvement every single Pokémon looking very bright and bold the scenes the environments they're all amazing but the charm of this game and just how cute most of the Pokemon art is really something out of this world in addition the aluminum phenomenon adds a magical touch to the game transforming familiar Pokemon into dazzling luminous creatures yes it may not be personally my cup of tea to Absolute binge through the game but it's actually quite enjoyable to just sit back enjoy relax and just get cozy playing a cozy game because that's what this game is it's also a really good way to be introduced to the world of Pocket Monsters I mean it worked when I'm at my fiance after all but even after all of the upsides these next two games are probably the bane of my existence brilliant diamond and Shining [Music] Pearl despite everything I have said so far it would be no surprise that I actually like all of the Pokémon games I've said in a nutshell but I really don't think the same can be said about these two titles oh boy where do I start my inner 10-year-old was so excited when this got announced and at the end of the day this is the generation that started my Pokemon Journey mine having said that there were issues with other games and well with remakes or remasters should I say they do have the quality of life Improvement to bring out the better quality in games better shiny ODS to just keep up with the modern day and the Fantastic underground mode finding unique hard to find Pokémon to add your rosters maybe except the grinding for the NPCs and the traders of course but the changes and may I say the lack of additions from Pokemon Platinum actually ruined these games made my experience lack compared to the old editions this is my childhood ruined let's start by saying that the original Diamond and Pearl games were no means perfect I mean they were rough a like loss in Pokedex with most of them being repeats from the first three generations and having extra Evolutions from older Pokémon that solely needed them although why are Regional Pokémon like mag morar or Mano swine only available after your playthrough this baffles me I couldn't even use eeve in my Main and First playthrough because again it was only available in post so leaon and on we're locked away and while I'm on topic of this deck tired to being the smallest Pokedex and unlike Cano where every Pokémon was new because you know they were the first games this decks offered repeats as I mentioned but even more so there were trainers who specialize in types now have very little Pokémon in that type chines the ice type gym leader uses a metam so it doesn't overlap another line Flint is the fire type user in the Elite Four and out of the five he only uses a raan monkey and a fire unicorn I mean he uses a furry a balloon and a Steelix no magm Mor no Arcanine no Ninetails no nothing like that the final gym leader vulner also only uses two Electric types A Ru and a luxray he actually bins pisu and uses an octopus and you may not even want to use most of the deck entry because they're all water and you picked piip blop asual starter this deck is awful what really pisses me off is that they remade the games exactly how they were 15 years ago and they didn't even have to make the same mistakes because as I said Platinum came out a year later and fixed them but no they didn't bother this time around they got lazy and although we were able to grabb ourselves some Platinum editions in the underground Houndoom Absol Altaria and Cipher for Sor we were still locked until the post game to grab ROM which once again Platinum didn't Platinum fix the availability for both the player and the trainers so every main trainer mentioned had new and revised teams which is a much needed Improvement this is why no one plays DP and just sticks with Platinum but bdsp ignored this oh yeah sure let's go back to the crappy Pokedex and just be lazy but they had another game to copy the fixes were there and they just didn't fix it I think out of all of this it's just the inconsistency to these decks is why would Mam fne and Glade fine in the main game but not rip perior which you can get in the ground underground post game items why could you get electri and mag Mor despite them being annoying but not get the Razer Fang for Glide score or the Reaper Cloth for dusclops it makes zero sense to me they just had to copy Platinum copy where the items were but no they changed it they used the original Diamond and Pearl but you couldn't use them they absolutely botched this game and I'm not even done with this modern Pokémon games now like sword and shield and let's go had TMS that were free to use with TRS available as rewards for dynamx battles a feature I personally didn't mind because it added challenge it added grind to build the best competitive team possible without restricting you and movey learning in those games were completely free but guess what they brought back the Move Free learner that needs Heart Scales where' you find them the grand underground are they rare of course they are TMS also break again in these games so guess what enjoy getting scammed at at the battle tower spending Battle Points on single use moves oh and remember the following Pokémon let's go well yeah that came back and I wish that never was the case because it's so bad it's not even laughable okay let's roll it back a little bit Pokemon Yellow literally just had the one Pikachu and that was it but match exactly what the player did the move speed it did and Heart Gold and soul silver follow me is pure gold Sprites look cute kept up to speed with the player so it actually worked and it's so Charming this game failed miserably the trainers have two different models one chibi style Sprite for the Overworld and two for the battles but the Pokemon on the other hand they didn't have Sprites and it's weird as anything it's pure laziness this game was pure laziness I know it was pretty much rushed than anything but it shouldn't be out I wish they never brought it back honestly just if you can just play luminescent Platinum it fixes the game so much you don't get terrible controls it's actually progressively tougher as you go through the game and as a result it's probably the most frustrating game going but I'm not done with so just yet because now it's time to transverse to a mysterious God of Almighty C to the Hui region in Legends archus and this is a much different Adventure compared to normal Pokémon games instead instead of battling against an evil team collecting gym badges and becoming the very best trainer in the region now we're getting into survey Expedition teams by none other than the prehistoric team of Team Galactic the Galaxy Expedition team helping to build a safe and procure Village for the people of the region and to live away from Pokémon alongside with other ancestors of existing Pokemon characters and collaborating side by side with the diamond and pearl Clans both following different mythologies and gods but again for the same reason to protect their people this game does showcase a lot of religion and politics and to me it's honestly such a unique story in fact it's completely different to the other Mainline games that we've had so far it's such a unique story with amazing mechanics that we would see further on one thing to not is that I'm not actually going to judge them very similar to the mainl Pokémon games because well they're not really main Pokémon games simply because it's different like Mystery Dungeon like Pokémon Snap and mainly to attract people who love open world games like the Legend of Zelda Calamity timeline breath of the wild and tears of the kingdom and sure there are things that I personally don't like I'm being picky but the areas don't link into one another so it's not fully open world though it would then become the better option further down the line I'm just not a fan of not being able to go further than what I possibly can more over to this just like bdsp Legends arus is just super inconsistent with the difficulty here from being stupid easy to almost insanely difficult not having a level cap in areas just mean it's quick to encounter tough Alphas but these are optional to take on and give life to the world environment and quite frankly a nice change to the root specified Pokémon now my initial problem is going through like the most simplest of trainers like aario or raay the the Bandit teams to then the ridiculously difficult Volo his team is basically a copy of cyia Team replacing gastron or myotic with hisu and Arcanine they're all grit trained and he doesn't even have six Pokemon no he has eight his full team plus both forms of gutina it's honestly a brutal battle let fight this I'm not mad in fact these games have some of the best battle mechanics I have ever seen from agile to Strong Style the Pokedex is different to HT for points which boost your rank and shiny odds and the shiny hunts well they are the best they can be yes you can finally see Overworld shinies from Pokemon let's go and they added an awesome sound in Jingle had custom HUD Sprites for the shinies I love Legends arus and I may say this alongside Pokémon Platinum these these two games probably are my favorite Pokémon games it's different the art style is good and offers a challenge whilst offering a variety of ways to grind if you want to hump for shinies you go hump for shinies in outbreaks if you want to look for rocks you go look for rocks if you want to perfect your Pokedex you go do that it's so good and honestly the side quests are just a change of scenery I really don't have much to say about this game except the inconsistency and difficulty and the open world that they advertise which isn't really the open world it's just like big areas that you can explore in although I think I might be thankful for when they released Pokémon scarlet and Pokémon Violet can I have some water please again I felt a huge excitement for the original teaser for Pokemon scarlet and violet instantly fell in love with Violet well because I love the color violet and I love the futuristic theming I'm a huge fan Mass Effect Star Wars Tomorrowland at Disney I'm just astounded by the approach and the vision behind the future of the modern day but don't get me wrong I love the Paradox Pokemon of both the past and the future although I think they got a little bit lazy with the future forms ion this ion that come on we need some better names don't you think but to really break this game down we really have to digest this because there is a lot so bear with me here let's start with the story and I must say I was going in with super low expectations because of sword and shield I really did not enjoy the story of those just the multiplayer experiences and that's coming from someone who prefers sword and shield over scarlet and violet but boy oh boy I was wrong and I admit that the inconsistency again shows here when there are five yes five stories the game starts with you well already meeting your box legendary being either Kon or maridon Cool Cuts scene well you'd be fooled because 10 minutes into a ridiculously long intro that doesn't even need to be that long of an intro we meet the legendary Pokémon of the times past or present but it's useless there's no backstory to it either it's literally just a paradox version of cyoar that's it it's a bike okay the designs are wicked and they are cool to use them in battle as well but it's not for me they just don't make Fab Trio Legendary Pokémon like the teao trio the creation Trio The Weather Trio I mean yes you couldn't use zarian or zenter in generation 8 but in terms of history and mythology and mysteriousness of those dogs I think they got that pretty spot on the main story then breaks into three little side quests B road for the gym badges and become a champion no twinner say a champion not the champion and the champion is a laughing stock in fact your rival neona po boy she drives me nuts but even she has a better team than this then you have Team star yes I know the whole region references around students and team star are just rebellious teenagers who simply join the cause to have their voice heard and I guess it kind of works for this game but going from Pure Evil teams who steals Pokémon who wants to destroy the world to then this it's a bit sad and then probably the best written side quest of them all Arvin and his Titan Pokemon huntting for the ultimate Herber mysa to heal his dog on its deathbed mosti Arin went from one of the most hated to the most loved character in the series and it's clear to see why he was going in very rude of tough and close and personal when really he was just being very over detective over something that was just his life his childhood and it's all due to the neglect and dark challenges he meets in the final part of the main story the way home to meet Professor sardo oruro both are arin's parents with only artificial intelligence of their existence remaining due to an accident in the lab this was then later expanded to the DLC the teal mask and the Indigo disc a two-part story which added a lot more character a lot more emotion a real leg Legendary Trio though I must say is pretty forgetful and then some closure for the professor and its Spirit despite its flaws and the fact we didn't get a dragon type Evolution which was the perfect time okay I'm sorry I need to State this now penny has the hair colors for the dragon type typing once you defeat her she gives you the TM from Draco meia why could they not give us the community what we want for that zero out to worst Pokémon game ever otherwise the story is pretty spot on and that's where the good times end because the game play is probably the most experience I have ever experienced in a Pokemon game and even I SL to bdsp pretty badly but despite me going through a phase of nothing but scarlet and violet Animal theme videos I cannot St the game play the open world is plain boring lifeless the quality of life looks like it came out 15 years ago with jagging and painted draw distance as well as texture warping I don't even mind terrible looking games as long as they're fun and as long as they're playable oh wait the horrendous frame drops in lag make it so bad at times especially at lag tree ficket and the Castle Royal Lake and I haven't even taken into account of the multiple glitches I experienc these two titles have been slated as the worst in the series as a joke embarrassing I'm ashamed they shouldn't see the revenue and it annoys me that they are the bestselling Pokemon games of all time it's a joke I'm somewhere in the middle because I did have a lot of fun G with the multiplayer and the union circle from winning hide and seek with my brother because of a glitch and also enjoyed our Olympic special earlier this year with unplayable game modes with my amazing moderator Scarlet fairy I also have fun with other Pok tubers such as pixel 8 nolock Joe and more and yet after all of that said I'm not even done yet because the worst thing and my biggest dick of this game is talization I for one hate it actually I take that back personally I generally don't have an issue with it it is a cool mechanic on paper black and white it's a cool feature and allow to be creative with my team for example my water type Garchomp and grass type hisan Arcanine gets rid of major weaknesses retrospectively but brought a whole new competition into the rank battles of multiplayer I personally don't enjoy it I'm not really battle competitive anymore I don't really go off and play ranked battles or anything like that because I just get annoyed at them now and that's okay because it's not for me it's for other people but what isn't okay is the stupid Terror crystals in the Overworld they are so similar to Dynamax in in generation 8 but they have gone so far backwards and I mean yes the Dynamax battles were indeed slow but they worked super smoothly and it worked once again these game modes were rushed with lots of performance issues the unresponsive controls to where the target moves free times before you without you even doing anything unlike the rest of the group everyone moves together and if you run out of time that's it if it's not broken don't fix it scarlet and violet had so much potential it had the best written stories some of the best characters in the game but it was rushed badly scarleton VI had so much potential had some of the best written Stories the DLC was promising but playing these games were downright painful to me and again it come comes down to that one thing it's rushed if a game is rushed if they have issues it's just unacceptable and it just seems like they're not listening to us it's unacceptable how they even approved of this and even the little things of lack of customization I get we're students and supposed to have a uniform we were legit workers in Legend archus and we had a much bigger choice in customization than this state this game shouldn't have even been released I actually got burnt out playing this game that's having my pure rage edit today it's that bad I guess all we have to say is if we don't like what we asked for then maybe we shouldn't have asked for it at all last but not least and this will be the easiest one because I've actually never played this game it's Pokemon detective Pikachu returns and I don't think I will ever play this game well yes I think the concept behind it is cool and all but it doesn't entice me the Mysteries are apparently not really Hidden Mysteries the graphics looks like it's a PS2 game the voice acting is abysmal and I mean terrible why couldn't they just hire Ryo rolds in this why he was good in the movies why just not put him in the game it would have been much more funnier and entertaining I don't know that just the voice actor he sounds too manly for all favorite little rodents but for those of you who have actually played this game actually comment Down Below on what you think but also what your favorite games are for the switch and why I think the best thing to really summarizes that these games are just getting rushed and that's it there's no more love the magic is gone there's no more love being put into these I'm actually really worried about Zed we haven't heard about it at all in a year we may have heard rumors we may have heard leaks but we haven't heard anything official yes new Pokémon Snap is just as Charming as the original and likewise to remaster of Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Rescue Team it just seems odd that most of the games now if they aren't Mainline Pokemon games they're just unloved because they know they're going to sell well and I seriously hope for the next games that they have learned from their mistakes Legend Za generation 10 maybe the remakes for black and white and I think those games are the ones I'm worried about the most I think we're just going to have to wait and see thanks you so much for watching this video check these two videos out on screen now if you guys like challenges and playthroughs hit the Subscribe button but for now I'll see you all in
