Show the finished result in the app, on screen, doing the thing the viewer wants.
"In this video I will [OUTCOME] in [SOFTWARE], and I will show every click."
State the version number on screen so nobody follows an outdated interface.

[WHAT YOU NEED - 0:20 to 0:50 | about 91 words]
"To follow along you need [ACCOUNT TYPE], [PLAN TIER], and about [BLOCK OF TIME]."
If a paid tier is required, say so now rather than at step four.

[SETUP - 0:50 to 1:30 | about 121 words]
Show the starting state: the empty project, the default settings, the file you begin from.
"[SETTING] starts on [DEFAULT]. Change it to [VALUE] before we begin, or step two will not work."

[STEP ONE - 1:30 to 3:00 | about 272 words]
"Step one: [MENU] > [ITEM]."
Perform the clicks on screen while you say the path, then pause on the result.
"You should now see [EXPECTED STATE] on your screen. If you see [WRONG STATE], you are on the wrong [TAB or LAYER]."
Explain why the step exists in one sentence, then move on.

[STEP TWO - 3:00 to 4:30 | about 272 words]

Zoom in on the control you are clicking.

This is usually the step people get wrong, so slow down and repeat the path twice.
