Other creators might tell you to do that, but if your goal is to make money and especially like evergreen income, don't start with that, please. I've seen it

[Music] Do you ever wonder how much YouTubers make? Well, I want to show you exactly how much money I made last year on YouTube with about half a million subscribers, how much individual videos made all the way up to the total that I got paid for 16.7 million long- form views. Let's dive into it. I'm going to go month by month so that we can see some of the extreme highs and lows that I've made. But I wanted to start off with just showing a couple videos because I've always wondered, you know, how much people actually make on their YouTube videos. And

And so, if you're wondering that as well, I'm just going to show you. One of my top videos last year was 50 easy habits that will change your life. It had 1.5 million views. It was 19 minutes long. The RPM was $1121, which is pretty high for me. This video alone also brought in $25,000 subscribers and made me a total of $16,800. Now, to be fair, that is continuing to today. Uh, but most of it made that money. And one of the cool things a lot of people maybe don't know about YouTube is not only does it have that initial bump, but it keeps having more and more bumps um where it's making more and more money.
Even like whatever this is like 280 days later, it had another bump where it started gaining views again. So that's one of the things I like about YouTube. It's like a long-term play. Now, another video that did really well last year got 1.1 million views, brought in about 18,000 subscribers, and made $5,600. And that's because it only had a $4.97 RPM. So, under half of what that other one was. And I think this just goes to show you why having like a good niche and what you talk about drastically changes how much money you're going to make.
It made less than half of what that other one made just because of the topic. And this also just goes to show that AdSense is not the best way to make money. And I really don't look at my stats that much because this is such like an up and down thing. Uh that relying on AdSense and and wondering what that is is generally pretty scary. This next one was 50 minimalist rules that changed my life. Very different than the other video.
Uh that brought in 6,000 subscribers and made about $6,000. That was coming in again over $11 RPM because it was a 23 minute long video. So you can see the longer the video also the more money that you're going to make. So a lot of like my students and stuff ask me what length video they should shoot for. 23 minutes is awesome, but honestly, if there's not enough content to get 23 minutes, do 5 minutes, do 8 minutes, do 12 minutes.
Obviously, you want to get past that 8 minute mark because you start making more money at that point. But the only reason I'm able to get to 23 minutes is because I have 50 points in these videos. And if I had 20 points, it just wouldn't be that long. It' probably be a 10-minute video. So, like, if you can do longer, that's awesome. But don't stretch things because the video is just not going to perform if you don't have enough good content in there and you're just fluff and talking and random crap. you got to like really deliver a lot of value.
This one got 273,000 views last year, brought in 3,000 subscribers from that and made $2500 at about a $9 RPM. So, that's pretty awesome. Now, this is again a video that's been around u for a while. So, if we look at lifetime on this, this video has had 1.1 million views and made about $12,000, which is awesome for one video. Now, I guess we'll just do one more real quick because I I I want to kind of show that uh these don't all make all that much money.
Let's see what's something lower here. For instance, this one got 90,000 views, which is still awesome. I'm thrilled to get 90,000 views, but that made uh $750. And if I'm paying an editor, maybe $250. I have other expenses. I buy camera gear. The time that goes into it, that doesn't really make all that much money. Even though you get 90,000 views, you think that's awesome. I didn't really make anything when I do one video a week.
And that's why having again multiple streams of income, super super important. I have eight ways to make money on YouTube course that is down below. It's totally free and it just kind of goes into some different ways to make money because AdSense super scary way to make money. Wonder what this is done lifetime. Yeah, lifetime. It's made like 800 bucks. All right, now let's jump into the month by month all the way and find out how much I actually made last year.
Now, in January, which generally like November, December, and January are going to be really good months, especially on my niche on YouTube for whatever reason, you just make a lot more money and then it goes down. And then when it goes down, you're like, "Oh no, everything's burning down. You're going to quit." So, if you just expect it to go in cycles, going to have a lot less stress. But we had 2 million views, got 32,000 subscribers, and made 14,248 on YouTube, uh, averaging in like the the $300 a day type range, which is awesome.
Very consistent here. Um, which is good to see. For February, we had 1.9 million views, 22,000 subscribers gained, and we made $15,528. I think that was because we had some of these longer videos doing well. So, even though the views were a little bit less, uh, we made a little bit more, which is pretty sweet. And the top day here was $94, which is awesome. Next up, we're staying pretty consistent. 1.7 million views, 17,000 subscribers, and made $15,500.
Don't worry, it's going to get worse. Next up, we had March with 1.6 million views, 17,000 subscribers gained, and 12,581. uh top day of $868. I think one of the cool things about YouTube is like you build up uh a catalog. So, since I've been posting for like six or seven years now, even when I have a baby and I don't really post that much, a lot of the old videos still continue to carry and I still keep making money from those.
And it's kind of like compound interest where because of the work that I put in for the past 5 years, I still make money even uh if I'm just posting once a week and you know I'm not posting uh super consistently. But next month we had 1.6 million views and that brought in $11,600. So we're starting to go down. Generally happens in summer. Then we had June, 1.5 million views and $13,400. This is one of the first days.
I've had very few days that have ever passed $1,000, but I did have one of those here. Uh, which was really fun to see. And I think that was just because I had like posted one extra video, so it kind of like stacked on top of each other. Usually I do one a week, but occasionally I do a couple extra. But now we are back to reality. 1.1 million views, 9,000 subscribers gained, $7,900 uh brought in, which is still uh awesome.
However, I do have expenses when you come to this. So, I'm showing all this and it seems great and amazing. But you got to think about uh this is not just a one-man operation, although you know, technically it could be if I wanted to work a lot more, but I do have editors. Uh I do have help with different aspects of things. I do have software that I pay for and stuff like that. You know, you have to buy camera gear and laptops and that type of thing.
So, this is gross. It's not just profit. I also have to pay taxes on all of this as well. So, if you think about it, this is about half of what we were making just a couple months ago, which can be really scary again if this is your main source of income. And this is why I really started in the past couple years learning different ways to make money on YouTube. One of them being affiliates. I learned how to do uh affiliates.
I have another channel that has about 300 subscribers that I started last year and that made about $1,000 a month in affiliates um from that new channel. And that's also something that I'm adding to my main channel. It's finding different affiliates that work with what I talk about. See, next month we're under a million views, $6,700 brought in. I also have sponsorships. So, most of these uh are going to have about one to four sponsorships a month.
Uh I try to do about roughly every other video has a sponsorship in it. And that does help alleviate some of this volatility of going up and down and dropping in half and doubling and dropping to a quarter all the time. It's crazy. And so that kind of helps take the pressure off. You see next one here under a million views, 7,500 more or less brought in. But another thing that it's even more controllable than that that I started last year was building my own products.
So last year I spent a couple of these months building and then teaching my 5-hour YouTuber course, which is how I run my channel here. In about 5 hours a week, if I'm doing one video a week, you see 1.1 million views, 8,400. And that was like a huge unlock for me because now I had a system where even if I stop doing YouTube videos pretty much for the most part, I will still be able to make some income from doing that.
And it's also a lot more controllable. It doesn't rely on views. I no longer have to chase those. Instead, if you have your own products that you have built and you kind of control and your own audience that you can control, then as long as the product is good and makes a big impact on people's lives and actually makes a difference, then you shouldn't really have that many problems selling it and you can kind of do that.
And that's been something I've really been learning over the past year. So, now we're in uh November, 1.3 million views. Uh the ads are coming back up, thank goodness. 12,48. And we'll see how we end the year here. By the way, I am about to launch my fourth cohort of the five hour YouTuber. I am a firm believer that it is the best course out there, especially for the price. Just to be transparent, it is $1,000, but you have almost unlimited access to me for like 6 weeks.
Uh, while we go through this, I'm teaching you everything I've learned over the past like 6 years live. And any other cohort you pay for, um, unless it's like three to five times the price, uh, you're not going to have direct access to somebody who's been doing it for like 7 years. I don't want this to turn into like an ad for that, but I am a firm believer that it is the best course if you want to grow and monetize on YouTube.
I teach ton of different monetization strategies, but now we're here at 1.6 million views and 15, uh,400 made. If you see, it's like that cycle where at the beginning of the year, I was making a lot of money, the summer really died out, and then at the end of the year, we're making money again. That is the general cycle. And that's really why while you're making money on YouTube, it's kind of like being an athlete. you need to save that money because they're going to have years where your income literally drops in half or you're going to have, you know, months, six months, a year, probably going to be 50% less than the other six months out of the year.
And you have some control over that, but not a ton. And that's why AdSense, it's a scary way to make money, but save it while you're making it. In total for 2024, I had 16.7 million views, 1.1 million hours of watch time. I gained 177,000 subscribers. My highest day was $1,032. And that led me to making $136,96455. This was also the biggest tax bill of my life, which was super scary. So, if you enjoyed this video, got some value, drop a like so I can pay my taxes.
