here are 10 facts you did not know about YouTube YouTube was actually founded by three former PayPal employees they uh decided to leave PayPal and start their own website and when they sold YouTube Shin got $310 million Hurley got $330 million and then karum got $60 million so it appears that he got jipped when his two friends got 300 million and he only got 60 million and by the way I don't know if I pronounced that right but his name is spelled k a r i m so I think that's km um carum I don't know but he only got 60 million while the other two got 300 million when they sold YouTube so he got jipped YouTube is the second largest search engine second only to Google and to me that's not surprising cuz I hate being in Yahoo but that's just me in 2007 YouTube used more bandwidth than the entire internet did in 2000 YouTube by itself used more bandwidth than all of the internet in 2000 that's pretty cool someone was actually arrested for doing graffiti and posting it to you YouTube now that's pretty funny to me how they made a legitimate arrest based off of a YouTube video I know that's probably not that interesting or surprising to you but I've never really thought about that how YouTube could help um help you know stop crime or you could get arrested for what you put on YouTube I don't know it's just kind of cool to think about the first video to get a million views was actually a Nike ad um by Cristiano Ronaldo uh hopefully I said that right he uh uploaded a video or not he Nike uploaded a video called Golden Touch it was an ad with him in it and it was the first video to reach a million views on YouTube Every second 46,000 videos are being viewed on YouTube so right now 46,000 different videos are being watched that is crazy over 4 billion hours of videos are watched each month HD didn't come out on YouTube Till 2009 and in the first days of YouTube when they first created the site they put a post on Craigslist offering $100 to girls that will to attractive girls that will post 10 videos to YouTube that's pretty funny um when they first made the site they put an offer on Craigslist saying if you upload 10 videos to YouTube and you're an attractive girl they will pay you $100 uh which I mean that is a good way to drive traffic to your site to be honest and there you go that is 10 facts you did not know about YouTube hopefully you enjoyed and I'll probably do a part two or maybe even make this a series where I just do 10 facts like every other day or something like that I enjoyed reading about it I um I'm actually really interested in statistics about YouTube I don't know that's just me and all these things are pretty cool to me so hopefully you enjoyed and let me know what you [Music] think a
