How To Start A YouTube Channel & Make Money From Day 1 (Step by Step) transcript

I've got a Channel with 38 subscribers that has made me $5,000 seems impossible and I know that seems crazy but it's actually extremely doable to make money on YouTube from day one with very little experience if you do it correctly and in this video I'm going to show you how to do it correctly so you want to find a profitable Niche if you want to actually make money on YouTube you can't just make whatever you want to make you got to treat it like a business because you don't deserve to make any money first off we have my friend David M Jr he started YouTube 2 years ago and within a year he quit his full-time job as a VP of a company and just did this and is making more money than he was doing that all from Simply reviewing High ticket products so for him he mostly does cold plunges saunas things like that and for multiple cold plunge companies he is the number one affiliate in the entire company because there's very little competition in this space and each of these products are expensive things they're like a $1,000 products so if you get 10% of that you get $100 every time somebody buys one with your link while he wasn't specifically targeting this he kind of just fell into it you can look for niches like this that are very underserved and have high ticket things that you can be an affiliate for or create your own product to fill a niche in the market he only has 48,000 subscribers he makes an insane amount of money and his videos that get about 1,000 views are generally worth more than mine that get 100,000 views just because each of those views converts into money so you don't have to have a huge Channel you can make one video and start making money from day one that's what I did with my uh kind of test Channel where I review reviewed a couple of products in this Niche and made a few th000 on the first video on a brand new channel and on that channel I've made about $5,000 while posting four videos there's also a growth hack that I want to show you in this channel but mainly it's looking for a profitable Niche so one of them is going to be anything that has high ticket things that you can be an affiliate for another one might be Finance but you want to have a good background in that if you're going to start talking about things like that another good example of building long-term income with Affiliates is this channel called Central media who's run by uh Nat Bren and his brother this is pretty much all search-based content with affiliate marketing for instance like Shopify versus Etsy what platform should you sell on well this has 2,000 views but if we click on this video the first link is for Shopify so they're going to get affiliate Revenue every time somebody signs up for Shopify with that link and since this is something that people would search Shopify versus Etsy which one should I start a store on they're probably going to make money from this video for the next 5 years or something even if it doesn't get a ton of views every person who is searching this specific thing is most likely going to open a Shopify and if they haven't done one yet because they're still trying to decide they're most likely going to open one with them now I don't know how much you make off that but they also have links for Squarespace and a ton of other things and this is for the most part search based content so you can make this video once and start making income immediately but also if it shows up in search you're going to make income for a really long time they could shut down this Channel and still be making really good money for the next 5 10 years as long as this stuff stays at the the top or mid of search this is a really really good strategy this this channel is really blown up fast but like I just showed you if you can find a good Niche it works the same way with a million subscriber Channel or 50k or my like 38 subscribers when it comes to affiliate marketing the number one question I get is like well how do you know I get these links in order to promote them first off if you go to almost any website whether it's a dog food company which I know somebody who made one video reviewing a dog food company and made $188,000 it was literally just a review of dog food you can go to their website you generally scroll down to the bottom and see if they have a marketing person an affiliate program create a department something like that and almost every website and major product that you're going to want to promote is going to have a a marketing department they're going to have an affiliate program and you just need to go to their website go down to the bottom apply or if there's an email address try emailing them you might need to reach out a couple times I generally have to reach out like to 10 companies to get a couple to answer back so if you just do one or two and you give up it's it's probably not going to work but that's one really good way to do it if you just type in whatever product or service you're interested in so like if I just type in Shopify affiliate program go in here you can just apply to become a shop ify affiliate or how I got a free sweat tent on a brand new channel was just simply sending this message hey I was wondering if there was anybody I could talk to about working with you and your affiliate program I've literally sent that to like 50 different companies that exact thing and most of them just send back an application that you can fill out or an email address that you can contact and then you explain to them hey I'm a small Channel but since you're not paying me I would love to just get a link and I'll will promote you for free and if I sell anything you make money and if I don't it doesn't cost you any money so it's like a win-win sometimes there's products for free that are involved but that is a a great great way to get started all right the next way to make money from day one is to have a product now I know if you don't have an audience it's going to seem you know kind of silly to have a product and most likely you're not going to sell a bunch of them however if you can find one of those niches that we talked about or just go into a large Niche but have a product from day one even if you only get 100 views on a video and one person buys your $100 product you can make money on the first video on a brand new channel now in order to scale that if it's not a search-based video meaning people are typing into Google or the search bar you know how to start making money how to declutter my home how to open a Shopify whatever they're they're typing in if it's not a search-based video it's going to be much harder to grow as a small Channel especially make money right off the bat unless you have a more viral Style video so that's why it's great to have a product right from the get-go and hyperfocus the people who will be buying that product if you have a product on how to declutter your home well don't make cooking videos make videos on how to declutter your home from scratch in 24 and 2025 whatever it is just do how to declutter X and do every room in your house how to declutter a bathroom how to declutter a kitchen how to declutter whatever you need make enough videos about decluttering you're going to start showing up when people type that in when they're watching other decluttering videos now they watch your video they want to do more and they check out your product that's just a Rand example but I do know people with relatively small channels and from day one who do sell products that are hyperfocused on their audience and you can kind of do some some growth hack strategies for any of these like like when I launched my second Channel as a test I posted one one short saying day one of staying in the sauna for 1 second for every subscriber that I got that's where I actually got most of my subscribers hey I have 69 subscribers now when did that happen it's kind of funny but that first short on a brand new channel got 1,000 views and I could have continued to do that day two of staying in there day three of staying in there and if I actually wanted to turn this into a business I could have continued to grow Haack to get out in front of people who are interested in saunas and kind of grow that way but for now I'm just doing you know products that I kind of have around the house anyways and it's just for fun but it really works so if you are going to sell some type of product or service generally there is a a way to do it correctly obviously there's a bunch of different ways and I'm actually doing a monetization like a master class coming up so if you guys want to check that out it's totally free it'll be like an hour of just kind of explaining how to make more money on YouTube but generally there's a path where you're going to have some type of free lead magnet which is either seven steps to do whatever template on how to do something I've created ebooks before and the main idea with that is just to collect as many email addresses as possible from these people who might just watch one video of yours and then never see you again if you can collect their email address then you can stay in contact with them and hopefully sell them your product or service which is again hopefully going to actually help them and improve their lives so for instance my lead magnet is a free YouTube mini course so I spent a pretty good amount of time and I built a 7-Day free course where every day you you give your email address and you get sent a different lesson every single day on how to grow your channel especially on like your first thousand subscribers how you know I did it with 45 million views on my main Channel and whatever and the main thing is just to offer something really valuable for people in exchange for an email address and the main thing is if you can deliver quality information that is proven and backed up if you can do that you can give yourself permission to sell something that is kind of like the next level like this is a good Baseline but if you want to you know really take things to the next level instead of getting a few emails get like you know 15 hours worth of stuff then you're going to have to pay for that because that would take a lot of time to build and yes I do have a course on how to grow a YouTube channel but I really hate promoting it directly cuz I never want to take money for something unless I've proven that I can really help people for free and then really make sure that when I do have a product to sell it is 10 times better than what they are expecting to get and it's proven to give results and if it's not that it's going to be really hard to sell and that's actually kind of The Next Step so so you go ahead you built an email newsletter a free lead magnet whatever you have and then you can start selling people this product you can set up sequences so that once they sign up they can start getting emails to you know get sold the product you can just save those email addresses and then whenever you decide to launch something in the future if you haven't built it yet then you have you know 100 200 500 emails that you can go ahead and sell something to and if 10% of those convert it can be a pretty good amount of money I know people with very small under a thousand person email newsletters that make like over 10K a month because they're very valuable people because again it comes down to knowing and understanding profitable niches and really targeting those people the next thing to do is to post consistently I actually paid over $8,000 to learn which is mostly just cuz I went to vidsummit four time so yeah but pretty much if you want to make money on YouTube and be successful yeah yes you have to follow a lot of these principles and obviously talk about this forever there's so many different paths and ways that you can make money on YouTube that it it's like crazy but if you want to grow that into a sustainable business you can't just post one video I mean you can't but you want to post multiple videos over a long period of time you want to get better that they better videos you understand search better you understand how to make thumbnails titles better and as you continually post and if you stick with this for my general rule is like 3 years because it's it's almost guaranteed success but even if you stick with it for 6 months or a year and you continually post search-based content that is going to show up in a profitable Niche you pretty much will make money and yes especially when you're starting it's going to take some time there's going to be a pretty decent learning curve and that's why most people fail when it comes to YouTube is because they don't have encouragement accountability they don't know what to do next and that's all things that you need to either find other creators who are are kind of doing those same thing join communities that are doing that continue to watch educational content like this or other channels that talk a lot more about YouTube than I do and if you continually stick with this for a long time you can do something for 6 months or a year make a bunch of search based content about Affiliates or a program that you built and that stuff will continue to make you money for a really long time it's like building a passive income machine that will probably not make as much once you stop running it but if it's a search based content it'll still keep making money for a long time and even if it's not a ton what else can you do that that really does that like that's why I love YouTube so much I think it's a great great tool for kind of you know building a life that you really enjoy it's been great for me I've been able to travel I do this all over the world I have made some amazing friends friends doing this have helped a bunch of people which is honestly like shocking that like something that I make the struggles that I go through and and sharing those and lessons that I've learn can help other people the same way other people's content has helped me a large reason why I I talk about this YouTube stuff is because I think this is a great path for so many people I recommended it to so many friends and family and I really think this is a really cool strategy and I really think that if you stick
