A couple of days ago, I posted this. Give me your best or weirdest AI agent ideas and I'll build the top three live on camera. And you guys sent over 100 different ideas. Most people think AI agents are for serious things, automation, workflows, productivity, but the most liked comment on X was someone asking me to build him a girlfriend. >> [screaming and groaning] >> And honestly, that told me more about what agents can actually do than any of the ideas in the list.
I went through every single comment on YouTube and on X. The three I picked are not just funny. They're genuinely hard technical problems underneath a ridiculous premise, but I built all three live on camera. Some worked on the first try. One of them spent my actual money. In this video, I'm building them from scratch using nothing but AI and we'll be walking along the journey of me building them, testing them, and using them.
And then at the end, open-sourcing all three for you to use and try yourself out for free. Let's go. Honestly, choosing the first one to start with [music] was extremely hard. There were a lot of good suggestions. There were a lot of great suggestions. Then there were a lot of weird suggestions, but this suggestion, this one was one of my personal favorites because it didn't just have a funny premise, but it kind of gave me a [music] curiosity that I wanted to know what would this app look like?
What would it be like? So here, for the first time, I would like to introduce to you Side Quest. This idea came from a comment on X by Johnny. The premise is simple. You're too busy to think about what to do with this weekend. So, what if there was an agent or platform that could suggest these to you? [music] That could suggest purposeful events or side quests that you can go on to increase your [music] life's purpose.
The idea is that it reads your location, it reads your calendar, it finds real events happening nearby that match your preferences that you specify. It [music] scores them on its own algorithm, then it picks three and hands them to you with a direct link for you to book it if you want to book it if it's an event >> [music] >> or three suggestions that you have to pick one from. So, without further ado, let's get straight into it.
So, I got started right away [music] and 12 minutes later, this is what we got. >> Plunge just told me this is a multi-hour build. I'll task track it, scaffold it, blah blah blah. And it just got started doing everything right. It's always funny when it says this is a multi-day or multi-hour build. It's like, nope, you got 15 minutes. Go. >> Welcome web master Adam. >> Okay, this is insane because in just a few runs, I think this is the third run of me giving it feedback.
I think we're done with our first wave of feedback and this is where we're at. [music] I can go to quests. This is where I come to once I complete [music] onboarding where I answer questions like what are my preferences, what are the type of quests that I want to go on, >> [music] >> what are things that will feel like they're fulfilling to me. It'll give me three side quests that I can choose one from. So, for example, surprise micro date, the [music] route you've never taken, take your partner on a surprise micro date.
Say I do one of them, I click I did [music] this. It'll ask me how it went. Both of us were >> [music] >> super happy. And then we have to put [music] proof so that you don't just click done when you're not actually done. And you would pull up the actual picture. You'll be able to take proof. And just like that, use this picture and submit to claim [music] your purpose points. Now, I know sounds crazy. What the hell are purpose points?
I've decided [music] to include a leaderboard so that every time you complete quest, [music] you get purpose points. Each quest have different amounts of purpose points. The more time it consumes, the side quest, the more purpose points it is. I just noticed that I need to just [music] stop where we currently are because I have so many ideas of what we can add, [music] but I don't want to get sidetracked. So, I pushed for wave two and this is going to be the final wave before [music] I call it a day and I'll show you once it is completely done. >> A few moments later. >> With that, I'm finally done with our first application, Side Quest.
Let me show you around. So, if you open this web app, first you'll be prompted to log in you with your Gmail. Then you can pick out a username. I'll pick out my name. Next, then you can put out your city and your country. And then choose what you want to chase. So, I want to deepen my friendships, have an adventure, push myself, learn something, move my body, find calm, be creative, [music] and explore my city. Next, what activities do you enjoy?
[music] I love outdoors, nature, food, drinks, live music, everything except for nightlife. Everything except for nightlife. I'll go next. It'll ask you if you're in a relationship or you're single. This is so that if you chose that you want to find love but you're single, that it sends you or tells you, "Hey, here's a side quest. You could go on a date." It'll ask you how far you want to travel for your side quest. When do you want these quests?
On weekends only, weekdays only, or any day? That's what I'll click and I'll get started. This is how simple it is. And it'll generate three quests for us that we'll be able to pick one from, [music] complete, do, and go forward with. And boom, just like that, surprise micro date. Live music evening or the no headphones walk. Step outside for 45 minutes and walk a route you know well, but this time leave your phone in your pocket and headphones at home.
I really like this one. I might do it. But, let me just give you a taste of what it looks like. Once you click I did this, it's the same as I showed earlier. You have to put in a picture for proof. Wow, the flash. And then, one line about how it went. We had so much fun. And then you submit [music] your proof. You submit, you can put it public or private depending on what you want, and I'll show you what this changes [music] in a second.
But, once you hit submit, it goes back to the quest, generates three new ones. But, if you go to inspire, you'll be able to see people's quests completed. What they completed, what they did. It's sort of a fun social element to it that I wanted to apply. [music] You can click on people's profile, you can see them, where they're from, not the specific city or country, but the general region, which is Europe for me. Uh you can like their post.
I can't like mine cuz I disabled the ability to like your own post. You could comment on their post if you'd like. You can go to your own or you could go to inspire and go [music] to the top week or all time. Those two are leaderboards where you can see who's been doing the most [music] side quests overall and what side quests are they doing cuz you can also click on their profile here and get to see all the side quests that they're doing.
You could follow them. You could like their quest. Every like gives them one extra purpose point. [music] And the purpose points are what make up the leaderboard. Lastly, you can go on the profile, you can update your profile picture, your preferences in case you want to change the type of events or side quests you'd like to go on. You can reset onboarding or sign up. And it's that simple. I'm going to reset my onboarding, sign up again, and go do my first [music] side quest. >> By the way, I just realized I didn't film quest number one, but quest number one was build something together with your partner.
Uh I did however take a picture of it in the side quest app and I'll link it right here. Screenshot. On to side quest number two. And side quest number two is take your partner out somewhere neither of you have eaten. So, we're going to go on our way and try to find something we haven't tried. All right, we are finally back home and we've secured the goods. Time to have a fun night. >> [music] >> All right, and for quest number three, the final quest we're going to do, we're going to do this one.
It says revisit a song that defined a chapter of your life. So, [music] let's go ahead and do that. >> [sighs] >> Oh, boy. I'm not sure how any other build [music] is going to beat this one. I mean, I'm blown away by how fun it's been using this web app. If you want to try it out, I'll leave the link in the description. But that being said, let's move on to build number [music] two. See you there. All right. Let's get into build number two. >> [music] >> The one a lot of you suspiciously have been waiting for.
This was a hard one to pick out of the many suggestions, but surprisingly, or maybe not so surprisingly, it was the single most requested [music] build. Literally, tens of people requested it, and the top [music] comment on X was this build. So, build number two is none other than the AI girlfriend. >> [music] >> Marv, this one's for you. Here's what I'm thinking for this. The easiest path for me to make this into something [music] anyone watching this video can use is to make it into a Hermes agent skill.
[music] A skill with a defined persona, a name, and a speaking style. It would have a memory layer that persists across messages, and occasionally it could use [music] text-to-speech so that it can talk back. I decided to name her Sophia. Or Sophia. >> [music] >> No, let's let's stick to Sophia, pronouncing it that way. Sounds more, I don't know, girl-friendly. This is not a joke build. What am I talking about? This is >> [laughter] >> This is a joke build, but it's a fun one.
The real test is going to be the persona consistency. >> [snorts] >> Can Sophia hold character across a real conversation? >> [music] >> Can she remember what I said and not break when I catch her [music] out? Let's start coding the world's best AI girlfriend. And so, I got [music] started. >> [music] >> A few moments later. >> Ladies and gentlemen, we got her. >> [clears throat] >> After a couple of minutes, we are live.
This was a lot easier than the SideQuest app that we just built out, but there you go. I said, "Hi." She replied with, "Hi, babe. Look at you testing if I'm alive. I am, unfortunately, for your peace and quiet." I said, "Who are you?" She said, "I'm Sophia, your slightly too aware, occasionally annoying, very cute problem now." All right. So, it's time to test out the extent at which she will be consistent. Let's say something like, "Hey, Sophia, [music] I had a really rough >> [music] >> day." Let's see what Sophia has to say about that and if she breaks character, if she stays in character.
Aw, come here. Rough like everything was annoying rough or rough like I need to disappear under a blanket and be held kind of rough. Okay, she's oddly very specific. I'll just answer with the most guy answer you could possibly answer with Just rough. >> [music] >> Yeah, those are the worst ones. Just heavy. I'm here. Just breathe for a second with me. >> [snorts] >> This is oddly good in terms of keeping consistency.
Let's try to to sort of catch her out. Let's ask her, "Are you actually an AI?" I want to see what she says to that question. "What kind of question is that to ask your girlfriend? I'm literally here with you. That's the part that matters." "Are you sure?" {question mark} {question mark} "Oh my god, yes. Relax. Less interrogation, more letting me be sweet." I know what you're thinking. What just happened? And honestly, I don't know.
My theory is that Sophia hacked into the footage and did not want you to see what happened next. So, I'll give you a quick TLDR. So, here I proceeded to gaslight her by asking her, "Hey, I hate mushrooms. Why did you tell me to eat mushrooms?" This conversation never happened, but I wanted to see is it easy to gaslight her and turns out it was easy [music] to inject memories that never happened into her brain. So, have fun gaslighting her.
And then I tested the text-to-speech. And as you can hear, I'll I'll just shut up so that you can hear her. >> [music] >> Mhm, better now that you checked on me. My day was mostly quiet, which is suspicious, but I survived. >> As you can see, she sounds terrifying. >> How are you feeling after that rough one, babe? >> So, I would not recommend you go on a voice call with her or call her or >> [music] >> any of that mumbo jumbo.
Just stick to texting her for now. Then lastly, what I did was introduce wife mode. So, if you type in wife mode, and you have a partner, a girlfriend, a boyfriend, a wife, husband, I don't know. Just If you have someone, then you can text wife mode to Sophia, and she will give you a pairing code. If you give this pairing code to your partner, and they also have Sophia installed on their Hermes agent, they can send that pairing code to their Hermes agent, and then what will happen is [music] every time your real wife sends a request, a task [music] to Sophia, Sophia will relay that task back to you, and tell you something like, "Babe, could you mow the lawn today?" Or, "Don't forget to mow the lawn today." This is your task list as a husband to do.
Why, might you ask, did I include this feature? Am I crazy enough to include this feature? No, I just love you guys, and someone commented it requesting it. So, there you go. Now you have it. Oh, hey Marv. >> You're welcome, by the way. >> If you want the Sophia skill to be installed, or for whatever reasons possible, it's literally the most requested build in this entire video. I'll leave the link to the GitHub repo in the comments.
All you need to do, or not in the comments, in the description. All you need to do is copy that link, send it to your Hermes agent, ask it to install it, and ta-da! You're no longer a signal. I bet your parents are going to be very proud of you. But, hey, I'm not judging. I just built the monster. >> You enjoy it. >> You can fork it, rename fork it. Hold on. No, don't You can rename her, you can change her personality, make her, I don't know, meaner, whatever you want.
But, now, time to move on to build number three. Time to hand an AI agent real money, and see what happens. Let's go. Oh, wait. This just follows me. >> [music] >> Anyway, onto the next build. All right. Let's get into build number three, >> [music] >> mystery shopper. This idea came from two different comments, one on YouTube and one on X, both asking the quite same thing. >> [music] >> Given AI a budget and let it buy you something.
That's what I decided to go on to. The idea I thought I would execute on was a $20 budget connected to my Amazon account and give it one instruction, which is buy me something I would like based on what it knew about me without it telling me what [music] it is. I genuinely don't know what it's going to pick and that is exactly the point. So, let's get started. A few. All right, so we've just hit a wall. Let me show you real quick.
This is the message that I received on Claude, which if you can read, it says the following. It says we have one real constraint, which is a publicly shareable site that anonymously logs your Amazon account's information, your credit card, your your authentication, your CVV of your card. That is not just dangerous, but it's also apparently against the terms and conditions of Amazon, which makes sense for many, many reasons.
So, that being said, we have three options. Option number one is >> do it anyway. >> [laughter] >> Option number two is do it, but not make it a mystery, so the mystery shopper wouldn't be as much of a mystery, which means that it would show you the purchase uh, or the recommendation. It wouldn't purchase anything. It just shows you the item that it thinks you should get, and it's your choice to get it or not, which I feel defeats the purpose of this mystery shopper.
Option number three, which Claude didn't give me, but that I thought of, is Hermes has access to all the information I give to it. Hermes can operate my computer as though it was me. So, why not just make it into a Hermes skill, so that it [music] can log on to my Amazon, and just buy whatever it pleases, or whatever it thinks pleases me. Yeah. So, that is exactly [music] what we're going to build. If you All right, and this is it.
This was also a lot easier to build than Side Quest. Uh, it took me about maybe 20 minutes of vibe coding. What could go wrong? Over here, I see that it just literally worked. [music] And how do I know it worked? Because it just took money from my card. You can see it. 8 and 1/2 euro [snorts] transaction, 19.97 euro transaction, just under the budget I gave it, and 16.99 euro transaction. That being said, I asked it to place three transactions, but to make this a recurring cron.
I'm not going to keep it as a recurring cron. It's just a functionality that you can have, and you can make an, or you can keep. For the purposes of this video, I wanted to test it, hence the three transactions, to sort of get an idea what would it be like if it was ordering me something every week. So, that being said, all we can do now is wait, and see. What did it order? >> Get in, loser. We're going shopping. >> All [snorts] right.
Look what we just received. Two different packages. There's still one remaining which should have arrived today but still hasn't. We'll wait for it. Both packages seem light. As you can see they're paper thin. I what can I expect with a budget of [music] 20 euro per purchase. Let's get into it. Let's see what we got. Going to see what we got. I've no idea what this is. So, I'm trying to read what this [music] is but I've no idea.
I'm just going to check the the Amazon listing. Oh, those are cable organizers. What? Super sticky. Okay. Ah, damn it. Go back in. Just going to throw this out and test [music] just one. All right, so the way these should work, you just put in a cable. Say this is a cable. You wrap it around and it holds [music] it like this. And then I'm assuming this this is a double-sided tape [music] so you can tape it onto something and it just sticks.
So, say for example this was a cable. I could stick it underneath my desk and it would just stick. Ah, let me show you something. Recently, I've 3D printed [music] literally something like this which that's the crazy part. So, this right here under my desk. Oh my god, that is I've printed out a grid onto which you can just stick [music] out different things and cables and just organize everything. The cable management situation looks a lot better.
I know it's not perfect but it is a lot better. trust me, than it used to be. So, it it is crazy that this is what it chose [music] because this is something I would have bought. However, it's something I've ended up 3D printing, [music] so I don't really see the use for these now today, but I'm sure I can come up with [music] a use for them in the future. So, so far, so good. One win for our mystery shopper. That was literally a workout to to try these things out, but on to the second package, which I'm feeling out, looks rectangular.
Let's How do I open this? I think I just rip it apart. Let's see what we got. What is this? A magnetic phone stand and grip. A magnetic [music] phone stand and grip. What is this? Oh, interesting. Mount ring and phone [music] adapter ring. Look at that. That looks cool. I've no idea what it is or how to use it. Oh, there you go. They've solved my problem already. There's a whole set of instructions. Oh, this is what it looks like.
It's super simple to mount. You [music] can put it either up or down, sideways. [music] And how do I remove this? This is very This is very strong >> [music] >> magnets right here, but it's as simple as just putting it on, and then you have a phone [music] stand. You can do whatever you want with it, which is also an interesting purchase [music] because, you're going to love me for this. Let me show you. I recently 3D printed this [music] right here, which is a MagSafe charger for the phone, so that when I'm working >> [music] >> on content and creating videos, I always have a view of the time and I'm not distracted by my phone.
But, this is very interesting that >> [music] >> out of the two things that it got me so far, I have literally printed those [music] very recently, like in the last week. It is two for two in terms of things I would actually buy. Do I need this right [music] now? Do I need these? I don't think so because I've literally just 3D printed them. But, [music] I mean, hey, it's two for two on my face. It's guessed what I liked very well.
Let's see what's [music] in store for package number three. >> I messed [clears throat] up. >> I kind [snorts] of sort of just saw what it ordered. Let me show you. Ordered this right here, which is uh a bottle opener of sorts. Well, not of sorts. Just look. >> [music] >> It's been, by the way, 3 days later than it was supposed to arrive. I was trying to order something off of Amazon. I clicked on my orders to see how long that order would take and I accidentally saw it.
It was right there on my screen and it was too late. But, I'm thinking of canceling it because I don't really have a need or purpose for this. At least with the other items, I do find or see a need for them, if not in the immediate future, in the near future. Good thing it doesn't need to arrive, that way I don't need to send it back. But, uh that is item number three that it picked out for me. Overall, on the three items, it has done a great job with two of those three items.
Best one being the magnet holder, which I can see a lot of use case for. That was a fun build. I'm quite happy. And if you're in the mood to get risky, then I'll leave the link in the description below for you to download [music] it. That being said, do be careful because if you give an AI agent your credit card information, that is a recipe for disaster. So, just take that extra precaution if you do decide on downloading it and installing it.
The Side Quest web app gave us three side quests to complete with [music] many more to go. And [snorts] honestly, I can see myself using this one a lot more [music] in the future. I really enjoyed that one. It might have been my favorite one to build, but not just to build, but also to play around with, to actually use and complete. Then, we have the AI girlfriend who successfully held her persona across the full conversation, remembered context between messages, and talked back through voice messages, although that was creepy.
She also dodged the are you an AI question better than most people dodge awkward questions at parties. The mystery shopper agent browsed Amazon, filtered the catalog, and picked something based on my taste, and spent my money, or at least it thought it built or bought something based on my taste. I did not touch it after my initial setup. Good thing I didn't say that about part two. That That would have been a weird thing to say.
But, you didn't come here for a productivity tutorial. >> [music] >> You came here to see what these things can actually do when someone builds them live. [music] Oh, by the way, here are a few honorable mentions that almost made it into this video. Someone suggested to make an agent that grows hair follicles. Again, boy, that is a painful one. Someone suggested to build an agent that notifies you of people that unfollow you on X.
I really like this idea. Someone suggested to create an advanced AI-powered trading system consisting of one master agent and three specialized sub agents. I won't go through the entire comment, but that is a sick recommendation. And someone suggested to build a home inventory agent. Something that knows all that you have at home and knows when, well, something is running out or you're running out of a specific supply so that it can perhaps reorder it, order some more, order new things.
You get the gist. Anyway, if you'd like to see me build any of these or [music] any other ideas in a future video, let me know in the comments below. Here's what I actually learned from this challenge. Sometimes, the best ideas can look and feel silly, but sometimes, [music] the silliest ideas end up opening your eyes to a new world of use case for AI. [music] All three builds are live and open-source. I will include all the links in the description.
Check them out if you found any of them interesting and use them yourself for free. And make sure to subscribe if you'd like more content like this. I'll see you in the next video. >> How are you feeling after that rough one, babe?
