YouTube Partner Program Eligibility Calculator (2027 Rules)

Enter your subscribers, watch hours and Shorts views to see whether the published YPP thresholds are met on any date you choose, through the watch-hours route or the Shorts route, and how far you are from each one. Covers the current rules and the rules that apply to new applicants from February 1, 2027, plus the fan-funding tier and the Shorts Creator Pool condition for channels already in the program.

Enter your subscriber count, watch hours and Shorts views to see where you stand against the published thresholds.

YouTube also reviews every channel against its policies. This calculator only checks the published numbers; it does not review your content and does not speak for YouTube.

The numbers are half of the picture. Once a script is drafted, run the free script check to see where it is likely to lose attention, or use the YouTube monetization checker to flag passages that read against the ad-suitability guidelines.

How the calculator works

The tool compares the numbers you enter against the thresholds YouTube publishes for the YouTube Partner Program. Until January 31, 2027, YPP entry needs 1,000 subscribers plus either 4,000 qualified public watch hours in the last 12 months or 10 million qualified Shorts views in the last 90 days (YouTube Help). From February 1, 2027, new applicants need 1,000 subscribers plus either 8,000 qualified watch hours in the last 365 days or 20 million qualified Shorts views in the last 90 days, and channels already in YPP are not impacted (YouTube Help, announcement of August 10, 2026). The date field picks which rule set applies, so you can check where a channel stands today or what it will need on or after February 1, 2027.

The two routes are parallel, not additive: qualified public watch hours and qualified Shorts views each carry their own threshold, and either one qualifies. Watch hours from Shorts viewed in the Shorts feed do not count toward the watch-hours threshold: enter your long-form watch time and your Shorts views as separate numbers. Below the entry tier, 500 subscribers with either 3,000 qualified watch hours in the last year or 3 million qualified Shorts views in the last 90 days is what unlocks fan funding, YouTube Creator Partnerships and YouTube Shopping, and that tier is unchanged by the 2027 update.

If your channel is already in the program, tick "already in YPP" and the entry thresholds stop gating anything. Under the 2027 rules the calculator then checks the Shorts Creator Pool condition instead: earning from the pool each month requires maintaining 10 million qualified Shorts views over the last 90 days, and below it the channel stays in YPP and keeps long-form earnings. Whatever your status, updated terms must be accepted in YouTube Studio by January 31, 2027 to keep earning from the associated features. YouTube also reviews every channel against its policies; this calculator only checks the published numbers.

Frequently asked questions

What are the YouTube Partner Program entry requirements until January 31, 2027?

Until January 31, 2027, a channel needs 1,000 subscribers plus either 4,000 qualified public watch hours in the last 12 months or 10 million qualified Shorts views in the last 90 days. A lower tier, 500 subscribers with 3,000 watch hours or 3 million Shorts views, unlocks fan funding, YouTube Creator Partnerships and YouTube Shopping rather than ad revenue. Watch hours from Shorts viewed in the Shorts feed do not count toward the watch-hours totals.

What changes for new applicants on February 1, 2027?

From February 1, 2027, new applicants need 1,000 subscribers plus either 8,000 qualified watch hours in the last 365 days or 20 million qualified Shorts views in the last 90 days. The subscriber minimum is unchanged, and channels already in YPP are not impacted. YouTube Help says a review typically takes about a month, so in our reading the last practical date to apply at the old thresholds is around the end of December 2026.

Do Shorts count toward the 4,000 or 8,000 watch hours?

No. Watch time from Shorts viewed in the Shorts feed is tracked separately and does not count toward the long-form qualified watch-hour threshold, per YouTube's Help Center. The two entry routes are parallel rather than additive: you qualify through qualified public watch hours or through qualified Shorts views, and progress on one does not contribute to the other. Enter your long-form watch hours and your 90-day Shorts views as separate numbers in the calculator.

I am already in the YouTube Partner Program. What do the 2027 changes mean for me?

The entry change does not apply: YouTube states the update will not impact creators already in YPP. Two things do apply from February 1, 2027. Earning from the Shorts Creator Pool each month requires maintaining 10 million qualified Shorts views over the last 90 days; below that, the channel stays in YPP and keeps long-form earnings, with Shorts revenue sharing resuming once it crosses 10 million again. Updated terms must also be accepted in YouTube Studio by January 31, 2027.

What does this calculator check, and what does it not check?

It compares the numbers you enter against the published thresholds for YPP entry, the fan-funding tier and the Shorts Creator Pool, and reports any shortfall per route. It does not review your content. YouTube also evaluates every channel against its policies, including the advertiser-friendly content guidelines and the inauthentic-content policy, and says an application review takes about a month. Clearing the numbers is necessary but not the whole application.
